Discord's plan while Fluttershy was away with the Breezies did not turn out as he planned. Not only did he not get to have the satisfaction of ruining Twilight and Cadence's day, he's now sick as a dog and bedridden. But at least Fluttershy is there to care for him.

However, while Discord didn't know of a certain giant worm's presence, he also neglected to consider one crucial flaw in his plan: how Fluttershy would react to it.

This fic stemmed from me being kinda unhappy with Fluttershy's role in "Three's A Crowd". Not the 'she's busy with the Breezies,' I felt that was a decent way to keep her from upsetting the plot, since it sets up a future event, and Discord came in BECAUSE she left. I more am unhappy we didn't see her react more to what Discord did behind her back, thus this fic is kinda what I imagine happened once she and Discord were alone.

I imagine that Fluttershy has Discord pegged, as she had him pegged BEFORE getting to know him better. That's my perception anyway.

A very wonderful fanfic. To be fair though, Fluttershy needs to have a talk with the rest of her friends about their treatment of Discord. Because their refusal to even give him the benefit of the doubt is partially to blame for what Discord did in "Three's A Crowd".

Good to see this one. I like the conversation between Fluttershy and Discord, as well as his internal conversation, which got rather unusual after a while.

Still quite good.

A nice little tale, showing a scene that would have certainly been interesting to see. I wonder how something like this would have affected the season finale... It seems like having real remorse following "Three's a Crowd" might have kept him from betraying them all later.

Their refusal to give Discord the benefit of the doubt is because he constantly lied to them. They were right in the season opener... He was the one behind everything that was happening to Ponyville, and he lied when he said he wasn't. They didn't believe that he was really sick and needed to be cared for, or that he couldn't make the trip to get the cure himself, or any of it. And they were correct.

For that matter, I'm not clear on what lesson he was supposedly teaching Twilight in "Three's a crowd". At most, he was trying to get her to admit that they weren't really friends or ruin her time with Cadance in order to maintain the claim. He was visibly upset when he realized that he hadn't been successful in doing so.

So I really don't know how the others are to blame for not being more trusting of Discord.

5414601 Still, the way the episode was written seemed to imply that they could care less if Discord actually WAS sick or hurt, just because of what he was like in the past. All it would've taken was a few lines of dialogue to convey that at the very least they looked at him with something other than dispair.

I love this. You have them nailed. I hate how so many people assume Discord has Fluttershy duped because she's quiet. She has his number and that's why he caves into her because he respects that she isn't as easily manipulated as the others.

'Sorry, Discord, this is how having a conscience works,' replied Discord's conscience, which was strangely represented by a colt version of him in a tutu drinking tea, at least as far as his mind's eye seemed concerned.

A colt Discord, in a tutu, drinking tea. Seems legit.

“...Because I went behind your back and hurt your friends trying to have my cake and eat it tpo...and hurt you doing so.”

TOo, not tPo.

I really like this fic. I hope a sequel is planned for after Discord's betrayal with Tirek.:twilightsheepish:

Then TIrek happened...
