Well, that was fast. I only just got your message that you were posting this, and it's Already through moderation. Must be a slow day.

Anyway, I'd leave a more direct comment, but everything I can think to say is something we've already discussed in the pre-reading stage... so instead I'll jut wish you the best of luck.

The Road Not Taken

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
--Frost

What had she done?

You gave your double a much needed chewing out, that's what. You saw something wrong and kinda squicky and let loose.

Anyway, good start. I'm with L-Carrot Top, for the record.

Oh, there is tension. I was hoping for more of these.

I really wanted to see the Raindrops conversation. But Carrot is good to.

5433997
Beg pardon, but "squicky"?

You can't just go accusing M!CT of being in the "wrong" for simply having chosen to focus on a different career. If anything, L!CT is the one who's in the wrong for judging a pony who has led a different life, by the standards of her own -- and heck, it's not like L!CT can even boast that she made the choice better, seeing as while she kept the farm it's something that she's constantly struggling to keep afloat.

I mean, seriously, how would you feel if one day your own alternate reality counter part drop in out of nowhere and started ridiculing your own life choices?

Ditzy's encounter with her alternate went a LOT smoother than THIS.....a LOT smoother.

5434651 Yes, squicky. L-Carrot Top, she tried and made something of it. M-Carrot Top gave up. I will call her out on it and L-CT had every damned right to.

As for your hypothetical... well, maybe he's right. My life has not gone as well as it could've. Then again that's about as likely to happen as I am to like post-YJK series and the 1986 Transformers movie.

5434780
Sorry, but I think you're being far to quick to snap to a hasty judgment about a pony you scarcely know anything about. Which ironically, is pretty much the exact same mistake L!CT is making here. More to the point, however, if that's the kind of attitude you're bringing into this story, then as one of the proof readers I can honestly say I doubt you'll be all that satisfied with the rest of this story.

5434780

You don't like the 1986 transformers movie? Why ever not?

5434814

Well, imagine if when Hasbro released Equestria Girls, they flat out killed Princess Celestia and made Sunset Shimmer her replacement, elevating her to Alicorn Status.

Trixie dispatches Luna and steals her powers, making a never-ending battle between the Solars and the Lunars for control over Equestria, with the Main Six (or what's left of them, considering half of them... take your pick) get slain in the ensuing struggle stuck in the middle, all for the sake of selling new pony toys.

That would kind of be like Transformers the Movie.

5434802 Well, I might be, or I might not be satisfied. Time will tell. But I'm siding with L-Carrot Top and will be siding with her. Period.

5434814 Oh...

Short answer, go to here and start reading.

Long answer? The movie is a barely-coherent mess that doesn't seem to have a damned clue where it's going or how it got there. It's two movies in one, badly joined together. The deaths are bullshit of the highest order, while the introudctions of the new characters is so 'buy my toys' it makes the season two intros look subtle. It's all flash, almost no substance. And the flash isn't even all that flashy. It tosses away almost all the season one-two characters and the on-screen deaths are slaps to the face of their fans.

I mean the stuff it's credited with, like the Matrix and Unicron, aren't even handled well. What's the Matrix? Where the hell did it come from? Why does it destroy Unicron? What the hell is he?! Why does he wanna eat Cybertron? It's absolutely ridiculous. I mean at least in the 2007 movie we know enough about the Allspark to know why the Transformers want it.

The stuff it's also introduced have aged so damned poorly and have been so overused they're staler than year-old bread. The aforementioned Matrix and Unicron, and you can add Prime dying, Megatron becoming Galvatron and the massive overuse of the damned quotes.

There's a little bit of good. Some good action scenes, and the new characters are likeable enough. But overall the shine's long-gone. I saw this in theaters opening week in 1986, mind. And I unironically like the G1 TV series. The movie is an overhyped, overrated pile of mishmashed trash that has long worn out its welcome.

And no, it's NOT cool anymore. Rule of cool doesn't apply to it. I'm not sure it ever did.

5434881
Personally speaking, the original movie is one of the few things in G1 that I can still watch as an adult which fully lives up to ALL of the nostalgia my inner child demands. For me it's Seasons 1&2 that have aged poorly to the point where all but a few choice episodes are unwatchable.

...oh, and no I don't hold Season 3 to any special standard. Rather, I just barely even got to watch any of it as a child, so it doesn't feel as disappointing when it falls equally short as the other two.

5434966 And personally speaking the 1986 movie sucks worse than a black hole nowadays, while seasons one and two are a lot better than they had to be. And they actually did some things better than some of the later versions of the franchise.

5434878 You should make an epic 100k words fic out of it.

5434985
I'm not so sure that classic G1 can really be said to have done anything "better". More so it just did a lot of things "first", which only feels better because back than it was all still fresh and new -- not to mention most of us were younger and more naïve to boot. Pretty much everything since then (with the exception of the Bay films), has taken those original concepts and refined them into something well and above anything G1 was ever capable of.

Which is not to say G1 wasn't still great for it's time, and every new series owes it's entire existence to the original series -- and some of the recent comic book reimaginings of that era have been beyond great. None of that really changes the fact that most episodes back then were still barely coherent excuse plots, so focused on parading out one new toy after another that only a scant few characters got anything beyond the most generic mono-dimensional characterization.

5435038 It can. The Autobots felt like refugees from a dead world. The Decepticons could be truly menacing against humans and we felt pretty damned puny. There were some damned good quotes. The Autobot/human interaction was great, too.

And the 2007 Bay movie is about a thousand times better than the 1986 movie, simply because it was coherent and I knew what the stakes were.

5435066
The name "Michael Bay" and the word "coherent" don't really ever belong in the same sentence... and I say that having actually enjoyed most of his movies prior to the abominations masquerading as the new Transformers films.

These CarrotTops do not like what they see:

They both see themselves as lazy quitters. 1 sees the potential in herself, and the other sees herself that way.

5435238 :rainbowlaugh: Abominations 'masquerading'?! There are far worse things than even DOTM or AOE. Hell, the 2007 movie is actually genuinely good, and ROTF and DOTM at least have something good about them,.

No, just no. I'm so frigging done with this.

Nice little chapter... but M-Carrot Top just piping up like that doesn't sit well with me. Then again I've never cottoned to the fates of the Maneverse versions of the Lunaverse Six in 'this' Equestria. :ajbemused:

Stop being mean to Carrot, Carrot

The exchange with AmethystStar and the dye is funny because AmethystStar, SeaFoam, Lyra Heartstrings, Minuet, and many more are palette-swaps of each other.

there's no reason it's only the two of them, they should have asked someone else. And the joke about getting clawed? They're going to an area that has predators and one of them had been bleeding?

Uh oh. I don't think Luna-Carrot will like meeting this Zecora.

Meeting Zecora? This isn't gonna end well...

Also, chin up, M-Carrot Top! You've done a lot with yourself!

Okay brilliant move to let the L-verse Carrot Top meet M-verse Zecora. I'm curious how much info you can squish in there as well. Perhaps letting out a few subtle hints how Zecora might justify her counterpart actions. Those who read the entire L-verse know that Zecora is only working with the sun tyrant because of a certain vision she had.

5444706

You know now that you've said that, I really wish I'd done it, but I'm afraid to say it didn't occur to me to look into what M-Zecora would think of her L-verse twin. In my defence I did mostly plan for this to be a look at the two Carrots interacting. Also I have to say that including Zecora in the story was Emeral's idea rather than my own.

Darn it, Zecora. Don't explain the placebo effect. There is still the return trip.

5446840

You can still bring that talk later. Zecora of the M-Verse is a very wise being and she might even decide to confront Carrot herself about her suspicion. :raritywink:

5447234

Sorry this stories prewritten and I don't think I'd be able to fit something like that in now, still it is a very good idea.

Any chapter with Steven Magnet in it is

¡Fabulous!

Now I am starting to imagine there are dementors in the Everfree Forest.

5447322
I do sort of hate to harp on about old disputes, but this is again why I was never really thrilled about the way you monopolize the limited time frame of the crossover. Sure it's easy to say that no one else was using that time, but as exampled here, writing one story can inspire other spin-off ideas. Because of the way you structured events, however, there's just no room left to fit them in and that's a darn shame.

Still, I'm not trying to do anything more than suggest you think about that on future projects. I know you still want to do crossover stories for the rest of the L6, but maybe you should consider keeping them simpler, or at least confining events to a singular day so that there is still time left over for other ideas to be further explored.

Truffles? So that answers the question of why Equestrians raise pigs...

I hope we get more of these. I'd like to read Raindrops.

This was good though. Nice an focused.

Ah, an authentic earth pony homecoming.

¡The CarrotTops save the lives of the Beatrices LulaMoons!

5453241 That and exporting to the griffons.

What a great look at Carrot Top's character, and a fun adventure to boot. I like how both Carrot Tops are equally good at different things, rather than hero Carrot Top overshadowing her counterpart.

I also like that you managed to work in Zecora. I would love to have seen one of the Lunaverse ponies ask this world's Zecora what she thinks she would have done if it had been Celestia who had gone bad. I'm guessing Zebras worship the sun here too. I bet she'd have an interesting answer.

I can see why Carrot Top freaked out.
* Everything is off, but only by enough to be odd.
* They go to a different dimension and then just cool their heels, because its up to the Trixies and Twilights to make things right.
* When they get hurt, Carrot Top *still* can't do anything to help her friend.
* Throw in booze, enough to make her walk home, only to see the place you can 'always go back to', isn't there anymore.

Granted, she did fly off the handle and take everything out on herself kind of quickly. I chalk that up to the booze talking though.

Ditzy is going to have to have a long talk with her.

HA! I was right. :yay:
Even Carrot Top said I was right....or acted like it.

Maybe they should check with me before they do anything... :moustache:

A good story, I loved the character development of both Carrot Tops in this story. Zecora was also good used although sadly a big opportunity which we actually mentioned before was missed to indirectly flesh out Lunaverse Zecora and the main verse Zecora thoughts about her counterpart as a whole and perhaps hidden insights.

Then again perhaps it was wise it wasn't touched upon because the story Grogar had Zecora in it as well and Carrot tops would have perhaps handled things differently in that situation had see seen a different insight of her Zecora in the Lunaverse. :facehoof:

Overall good story and good passing as well. There wasn't a moment the story felled dragged or overstayed its welcome. The action scene was also dealt nicely long enough to show the boar was no pushover and yet not long enough that it was starting to get frustrating. Btw Lauren Faust had declared that all animals with a hoof in the MLP verse are sentient. Last time I checked boars have hooves. Guess you forgot or didn't know because never once did you reveal any sentient to the boar. But that is my only nitpick with this otherwise good story. :derpytongue2:

5470960

Maybe he just didn't feel like chatting? He can be sentient and decide to just squish them for no reason and then get distracted by his favourite food, he's just not be smart.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it :trixieshiftleft::pinkiesmile::trixieshiftright:

5446940 They can probably take it now they know what they're up against.

Nice, fun adventure, but what was up with Trixie near the end, there? Also, M-Carrot Top, buy back your family's farm and regain your honor!

5455136

I have idea's for all 5 of the crossed over ponies although I don't know if I'll ever write them up, I know some other authors have ideas. Mine for Raindrops is for M-Raindrops to ask L-Raindrops for assertiveness training.

5497651

Maybe Trixie still has a bit of brain damage from her coma? I wanted a fairly light hearted ending and Trixie seemed a good fall-mare for a few jokes, although I know you're not to keen on that characterisation.

Cool dude really cool! It sorta makes me think about all the ponies in my little pony and how they just have simple boring lives compared to the elements of harmony. For example, Carrot top p, A simple farmer, who in fact is a true hero since she basically feeds all of ponyville since she's... well... U know a farmer :D and yet she's still a farmer by the way I think Hasbro is making an epidemic based just on the minor back round ponies. U should watch life of a farmer made by minecraftcubezone. It's basically carrot tops life! :D :pinkiehappy:

Ugh my fucking iPad made some "minor" changes to my words apparently so some things might sound a little funny :ajbemused:
