Shortly after Princess Luna's banishment, she requests that the bat-ponies of Hollow Shades venture out into Equestria in an effort to enforce a positive image of them in the public eye.
Enter Pinkie Pie, the most happy, friendly pony in all the land. It's up to her to help a half-reluctant bat-pony make friends in Ponyville.
(Written a long time ago because of some silly joke about Pinkie Pie and Speck's love of ponies being able to transcend time and space, causing them to meet.)

Gotta agree with Hat. Thestral sounds more proper, like Pegasus. Bat-pony sounds like a slang term, derogatory. We don't call Pegasi bird-ponies. They might not take kindly to that! So it'd be silly to have a race appropriately called by something that sounds insulting. "Homo Sapiens, better known as Ass-faced Monkeys."

I've been writing for bat-ponies for over a year. I was part of the whole thing that got them popular.
Thestral is a shitty term to use for them, it doesn't fit with the naming theme for pony species, and it's used to describe things that bat-ponies are not.
I'm ambivalent about the whole bat-pony vs thestral thing. It's really up to the tastes of the author, especially as to whether or not one name or the other is considered derogatory within the context of the setting. Without any official statement from the creators of the series, if there is one, I haven't heard about it, there isn't any real official name for them.
That said, the one thing that throws me with this fic is the use of second-person narrative for Pinkie Pie's perspective. I'm not sure if there's really a point to it. It feels a bit awkward to me and I think simply going first or third-person would have worked better. But maybe that's just me...
Otherwise, this was a nice story and I liked it overall.

I liked it. It's rare to find a well-done second person fic. Even rarer when the author uses Pinkie of all ponies. Very nice, very sweet.
