I got a wicked The Dark Knight Returns vibe off of this one. If you're not familiar with it, it's a comic by Frank Miller in which an elderly Bruce Wayne returns to fighting crime as Batman and feels reborn/young again after putting the suit on.
This is a beautiful tale, and I think you captured what it is I find most appealing about Rainbow Dash: not her arrogance, not her jerky façade, but her unfettered determination to be the best there is.
