Karach

Just a humble software developer who fell in love with ponies.

T

Because Celestia is a ruthless ruler... :trollestia:

Oh, and besides, I keep hearing some Halloween fella is coming... :pinkiecrazy: Wonder who could he be... :pinkiehappy:

Have you ever considered submitting this story to Equestria Daily? You can find out how to do so here. ...This is an "Evil Celestia" story, isn't it.

Frankly, I haven't. I've never considered my writing (in general) to be at the required level. :rainbowlaugh: Besides, it's just a short and simple idea I got during the Halloween season. :pinkiecrazy:

On the other hand, I might as well submit the story just for kicks. :rainbowkiss: It will get turned down, at most. :raritywink:

What a wonderfully creepy story.

I agree, you should submit it to EQ Daily!

Thank you. Might as well try, I suppose. :raritywink:

Scared the fuck out of me :applejackconfused: I've read stories about this fanon but this is, by far, the best one yet.

5188023
Thank you. It seems I did something right, then. :rainbowlaugh: In all seriousness, though, I haven't read a story set in a similar fanon, but I suspected it isn't anything too original. :twilightblush:

5188334 I think there's only a handful of stories that ever touched on this subject even if a lot of ponies already have fanon for it.

This is the first I've seen, (the statues history) and it was well done.

I can easily see Celestia turning ponies to stone, the years may have mellowed her somewhat. But how was she in the past? She didn't care enough about her own sister to notice what she was going through. Then sent her to the moon, without a seconds thought, and created and named a holiday, used to frighten children, after her.

Celestia is just as bad as Nightmare Moon.
Worse really.
She killed, or is torturing, the ponies turned to stone for her own amusement to this day.

Thank you.
Coincidentally, your opinion on Celestia is really close to mine. Who else but a heartless ruler would stay on the throne for more than a millennium? :trollestia:

I have to finish my two other stories and fast. One definitely expands on the ruthless ruler motion (but Celly isn't its protagonist). The other, on the other hoof, focuses on Celestia, but not as a ruthless ruler, but rather a star-fueled immortal consciousness. I wonder which you would like better. :pinkiehappy:

Oh, and thanks for the watch (not that I consider myself worthy :rainbowkiss:).

Coincidentally, your opinion on Celestia is really close to mine.

....'Great minds' and all that...:moustache: I'm happy I'm not the only one who isn't fooled by her act.

I *almost* got into an argument in another comment section about Celly The Terrible. And how the mane 6 were just as guilty of everything they gave Trixie hell for.

I say 'almost' because the bugger ran away. He said he'd be back in a couple of weeks to continue it. But I havent heard from him in more than a year I believe. :rainbowlaugh: I still say she owns at least half the blame for NMM.

Who else but a heartless ruler would stay on the throne for more than a millennium?

Well I might. But only to make sure things go well....and to make sure none of the Nobles walk off with the good china. As soon as that's safe, I'm outta there.....honest! :raritywink:
Kidding aside, that's dead on. I can't believe she couldn't figure out someway for the ponies to have more control over their own lives and future. Friggin tyrant.

NP on the follow. Without ppl like you plugging way, I wouldn't have any quality pony time between the seasons.
(Just how the hell did AK Yearling write with a 2 key typewriter anyway???)

I can't wait to read those. I hope Corona chokes on her damn tea. :pinkiehappy:

I've always thought those other statues contained other prisoners, and we just haven't been told about them yet. It's nice to see I'm not the only one.

This story was beautifully executed; I loved the tone. Nicely done! You know what you're doing.

I have also really struggled to see Celestia in a remotely positive light. She's always struck me as cold, uncaring, and (at the very least) completely incompetent. (Dumbledore seems to fall into the same category.) It's always a struggle to not make her a villain when writing stories. If the show's writers were trying to make a Gandalf character they failed pretty hard.

For what it's worth, I tried to get a friend of mine interested in MLP. He only watched a few episodes before bailing, but he did come away thinking Celestia was one of the villains - he just couldn't see her as a good character. I think he's right.

Thank you very much! :pinkiehappy:

You know what you're doing.

I don't think so myself, but hey, who am I to judge my own writing? :pinkiecrazy:

Dumbledore = Celestia is a pretty nifty comparison. Yeah, they both seem to have so much authority that they grow to think nothing can stand in their way. Dumbledore got what was coming to him (and hard :rainbowkiss:), we have yet to see Celestia reap what she's sown. Sadly, I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon (perhaps if Lauren was still in charge). A man can dream... And write. :pinkiehappy:

If the show's writers were trying to make a Gandalf character they failed pretty hard.

If they tried to make it out of Celestia, they have indeed failed. However, going by that comparison, I think they made one crafty wizard out of the friendly neighborhood zebra. :raritywink: Now, if someone were to make a Sauron (perhaps even Melkor)... :trollestia:

Ah, yes, Zecora! She's a fantastic character. I would be quite pleased if they got rid of Celestia altogether and started relying more heavily on Zecora for supplying Twilight with wisdom and insight. I could live with that.

I don't know if you have ever read any of the MLP comics, but I can say that Celestia is far more competent, kindhearted, and sympathetic in them than she is in the show. She also comes across in a fairly good light in The Journal of the Two Sisters. (If you haven't read any of the official MLP comics, I'd highly recommend "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Volume 5", which collects the "Reflections" mirror universe arc. It presents a very flawed Celestia who made some very poor decisions that came back to haunt her. I was impressed.)

I've read some of the comics, but don't quite remember how many. But yes, I remember Celestia being portrayed a little more detailedly in them. I also enjoyed what they did with Luna, even if their version has little to do with the one shown in the eps. :rainbowkiss:

Alright... it has a few tense hops, a few spelling mistakes, a few bad or wrong wordings here and there (especially at the beginning before the story begins its nightmarish flow).
Nothing a proofreader wouldn't have caught with none too much effort.

That doesn't in any way damage the evocative and powerful narrative though that creates a chilling atmosphere while compelling the reader to read on, seemingly faster and faster as the nightmare scape takes form.

Very good -could have been really great with a little proofread-polish- and very memorable.
Good work, have a fav.
And hopefully your story gets a little more recognition along the way. It may be a rough gem but it's still one of those little gems. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful opinion.

If some of what Luna was saying is true, then that would make Celestia quite ruthless indeed, even outright cruel, both because she turned some of these ponies to stone, and because she left them that way.

I mean, some of them you could get they had to be gotten rid of, but not all, and even for the former...*shudders*

Not to mention that Luna doesn't seem bothered by it.

7173135
I don't think she has much to say... She probably doesn't want to return to the moon right after coming home from a 1k year banishment. :raritywink:
Or maybe she's gotten used to it by now?

Who can really tell what's in that dark mind of hers? :rainbowderp:

717428 That would not excuse actively blocking their dreams.

One or two of the punishments might seem warranted, if extreme, but the others...

If we want to be more cerebral about it? They really are statues, and Luna is just messing with Twilight to get across to her that Celestia isn't morally immaculate, and has had to do hard things in her time on the throne.

This was a great story!! Great job
