I'm a long time science fiction and animation fan who stumbled into My Little Pony fandom and got caught -- I guess I'm a Brony Forever now.

How Fuschia Blush and Lavender Lace perceive their friend The Great and Powerful Trixie, and how all three perceive the strange things that go on at Canterlot High School.

I spy an Anthropology reference:raritywink:

Oh yes. Also inspired by Chengar Qordath's Why Do I Like Horse Women?, though I doubt this Lyra's been that intimate with Flash.

So, Lavender Lace dreams of a world of purple prose. That feels alliteratively appropriate.
I am curious about the "glow" effect. It could be nothing, but this world's magic is a quiet, subtle thing. (Not to be confused with magic imported from Equestria, which likes doing things like using music as a catalyst for transmutation and summoning giant equine avatars of friendship. :derpytongue2:)

Your ideas about Marks in this universe are close to mine. (I really need to write that story...) Still, I don't think Lavender's own Mark was described.

Canterlot High as a scholastic apex? Interesting. I'm not buying it outside of this story, but an interesting idea.

I like the disciples of Illusion as you've characterized them. Lavender wants to focus on how things should be, rather than what they are. Fuschia pierces through the fog and can't help but see the reality. They are idealism and cynicism. I can think of no better minions for Trixie.

And Trixie. Oh, Trixie. I'm reminded of Sun Atoms. Aspects just seem to know on some instinctual level. I'm not overly fond of how Trixie's dissertation was split apart by such massive digressions, but I admit, it does work. A bit hard to keep track of the thread of her dissertation, but it works.

I take it from the skepticism that somehow, a thousand videos of the "horse angels" weren't uploaded to the Internet. That, or someone's been aggressively debunking them. Still, there were dozens of witnesses at the Fall Formal. Something is keeping this ludicrously under wraps...

I was not expecting Meganism to be a thing here. That comes as quite a bit of a surprise, especially the "horse angel" aspect. Is there some species-swapped version of the Hasbroverse somewhere in the multiverse? (What am I saying? Of course there is. It's the multiverse.)

In all, I'm definitely looking forward to more here. I haven't seen any characterization for these two before (though I will read Temptation Waits.) Looking forward to more.

I'm intrigued. however, I'm a bit worried about that 'sex' tag. Since it's only marked teen, I'm assuming it's nothing major, but I don't want to read this if it's going to contain r34. Is the tag just for sexual references, or what?

I do not envision any explicit in-story sex. OTOH, the characters include Cloud Kicker, who has already put on a perverted private puppet show with her cousin Lavender Lace's stuffed animals, such that Lavender can't respect them as much any more, so ...? And Trixie has a huge crush on Piercing Gaze ...

5170706 well, I'm understanding that as a maybe. Eh, good enough. If it's marked as teen and there's nothing explicit, than it's worth a try.

Im not 100% sure about this but I think that you are the first author writing a story about these two characters. In other words you are exploring uncharted territory. Thats awesome.:rainbowkiss:

which she wore on a charm around her neck, and which like everybody's Mark came to them in a significant dream right around puberty

Best. Headcanon. Ever! :pinkiegasp:

Your interpretation of Fuchsia was like the complete opposite of mine! XD

I updated my Notes to also credit First Flakes of Snow. You may tell her that these are perfect names for the characters -- they match the appearances and have enough ambiguity in them to support complex destinies.

Even her best friend Sweetie Drops

Really? cause from what i seen on piano that was slightly more than that (Though i guess there in denial i suppose). but seriously i see pony lyra actually saying that as well with her marefriend giving her an annoyed look.

and boy will fuschia be shock in hell when she proven all that stuff especially when she see THAT aura alicorn in the sky.

finally nice touch with the mark thing. good work.

btw the members derpy band are called Blueberry pie (Blue one) and Raspberry Fluff (Red one)

Above and beyond anything else, Lyra and Sweetie "Bon-Bon" Drops are best friends. Also keep in mind the POV character. Lavender Lace is a rather naive fifteen-year-old girl, and while Fuschia Blush is relatively very knowing (because of her Talent), this is relative to Lavender. Who, note, was seriously upset by a half-joking impromptu erotic puppet show put on by Cloud Kicker in the couse of a private conversation.

This I did not know!

True can't deny you there.

Well actually i think there fan name (I saw it on derpibooru so i could be wrong) so don't quote me on that. Also this also gives you the option to give them different names if you don't like those names.

0-0 Constants and variables.

Man . . . "beautiful". I really, really like that. Great story! These characters and their worldviews are really something to think on.

5234523

Yes, I do think Trixie's dreams are beautiful. She's just very, very bad at getting along with people in any context save as her audience. Note that she treats her friends as her audience, and her romantic attraction is toward the man who is teaching her to become a better performer.

Fantastic story! I feel like I'm in American Romanticism class, but without the professor's cynical attitude. Your take of Fuchsia and Lavender's personalities and traits are beautiful!

A job well done, good sir/ma'am. :moustache:

On the one hand this looks interesting, on the other, I have been hoping for more of your story where Spike is being pumped for information about Twilight by Luna. Oh well, I suppose you just have to write where the inspiration lies.

'Misunderstood geniuses' I love that phrase.
Tells you what you need to know about these girls.

And mark dream? Interesting!

I shall be writing a story including Trixie in it. Would it be an issue if I use the Piercing GazexTrixie hinted pairing and put them on a "secret" next level? Basically, Trixie will talk about her being with Piercing (he even pick her up from school) and her "secret" romance will be caught as she kisses Piercing by...someone (read at a later date to find out).

5484147

Oh, I'd be honored. Your story would probably be AU to mine anyway, so it's okay if you have things develop as you will.

They will not be the main couple, but shall be included in the story-can go more in depth in a PM if you would like me to. Thank you very much, mate, for allowing my usage of PG. I shall endeavor to have the qualities mentioned of him in your story to reflect in mine.

I like this one! It'll be interesting to see where Trixie's two "disciples" end up; hopefully not in deep, deep trouble when their not-as-clever-as-she-thinks leader meets the Dazzlings.

Trixie is expressing an ontological philosophy similar to that of Buddhism. Only Trixie doesn't want to renounce Maya so much as she wants to control it. Trixie would normally be severely self-deluded -- the great irony of this is that, given of what Trixie is truly an Aspect, she might be able to deliver on her promises.

Really? I knew her little speech was a reference to some sort of formal philosophy, but I thought it was Platonic with those remarks about the 'Archetypes'. Really, Trixie's occult hobby/obsession rather reminds me of myself at that age, fondly imagining myself to be a Great Mind rather than a clueless nerd.

Looking forward to the next chapter of this one. And I like the references to Cloud Kicker and Lyra.

This is STILL lovely. A good reminder this is not OUR earth. And showing this incarnation of Trixie.

I was looking for stories with Fuchsia, and weeeeeeell, turn out it's the only one.
I like this story, with nice headcanons. I hope other chapters are on the writting process, I want to take that ride.
Good job.

From what I’ve read, this doesn’t really seem to be Buddhism, but rather Platonism or Upanishadic Hinduism. From my understanding, Buddhism claims that the spiritual world and the physical world are both real, and neither has primacy over the other.

9282170

I never said Trixie wasn't confused. Yeah, she's a convenient person to blame it all on.

9282324
Possibly if the Humanoidverse has a religion similar to Buddhism.

Then she used smoke bombs to actually teleport in Forgotten Friendship.

9282808
Better than in many fictional settings were religion boils down to "jackass gods being jackasses to the defenseless mortals" or "con going on after the conman is dead."

9711752
Why, exactly? The first one is a pretty accurate description of Greek mythology, at least from what I’ve read, and I find it somewhat hard to believe that the second has never happened before in our own history.

9720856

Cause not everything is greek mythology.

9721210
If you’re saying the concept is something writers "default" to for a setting without any further thought, you might have a point, but the fact that it has a basis in real world beliefs shows that it’s, at the least, not completely invalid.

Thank you for everything!
