Ponyville’s not a very large town; most everypony knows everypony else, and one could walk from one end of the town to the other in a few hours at most. However, the town has a rather prominent train station, vital to the transfer and transport of supplies to all parts of Equestria. It’s due to this fact that many unfamiliar ponies can be seen scurrying about the peaceful town, both law-abiding and not.

In my opinion, Rarity is one of the hardest ponies to portray. You've written her out beautifully, from her kindly nature to her own self-preservation, and it all mixes together to form an excellent bittersweet smoothie of a story.
