Final Draft

All the world is indeed a stage, and we are merely players, performers, and portrayers; each anothers audience outside the gilded cage.

Though they had never met, the stallion hated the mare in apartment forty-two. All day, every day, he listened to her push her walker aimlessly around her apartment. The scraping noise it made on her floor echoed through the ceiling of his apartment, giving him no rest.

Then came the night he heard the thud, and the scuffling stopped...

Oooooh this is going to be interesting!

JLB

Perhaps the one problem I have with it is that... it's got precisely nothing to do with MLP. Matter of fact, it'd work much better as an unrelated story. Didn't have to be a piece of fan fiction, not even remotely. Absolutely nothing would have changed aside from the part about magic that barely matters.

Then again, that's pretty much the only problem, the rest is rather interesting and unusual.

This story has started off very well. I like how you almost completely defined your main character by what he thought of the old lady living above him. I will have to agree with JLB, this story has nothing to do with MLP, but I assume you're getting to that. Also, that old lady shoulda got Life Alert.

Well. Thats very depressing.

I understand this problem, and actually the story was supposed to be it's own work of fiction, but I couldn't get the words to flow without it being about ponies. I'm hopeless.

Your stuff's always Interesting, Final. This is no exception.
Very nice work.

That wasn't really a problem for me. I mean, sure there weren't any canon characters in it, but that doesn't make it not a part of the universe. A rather dark corner, but a part nonetheless. Plenty of pony stories could translate to regular fiction quite easily, and plenty of regular fiction could easily translate to pony.

5156501 Yes, but then it just loses the point of being on this site. The appropriate lexicon feels tacked on just for the bandwagon. You can replace them with human versions and remove that part about magic and bam. Nothing's changed. It's probably better.

Fan fiction, at the core, exists in order to make stories based on some fan source. This one isn't based on anything, it just happens to be in that universe, and even then it's the "human words replaced by puns" kind of universe. Feels cheap.

I will be watching this with great interest. Only fitting that we get a good horror story in time for Halloween.

What is especially scary about this fic so far is the painfully accurate depiction of resentment and outright frustration people get having to deal with the elderly. I'm ashamed to say that I and everyone in my family have felt this way on numerous occasions towards my great-grandmother after she no longer could take care of herself. Her situation is more upsetting because she has all these delusions. She hallucinates people coming into her room at night and taking her stuff (she's in a nursing home btw).

Wow, I loved this. I sincerely hope that you get the second chapter out post-haste!

I'm getting a very distinct 'silent hill' vibe of horror from this....and like a certain game critic in Australia,I quite bloody well like silent hill.
