This story is a sequel to From Equestria with Love
The brightest flame casts the darkest shadow, and many wars are won and lost in darkness far from the light of day.
It could, perhaps, be understood why Celestia chose not to pursue justice against Queen Chrysalis, or free the captive ponies the changeling hive fed on. An enemy becomes all the more dangerous when cornered, and Celestia had no desire to initiate another outbreak of hostilities when the hostages were safe, after a fashion, and a peaceful solution was still possible.
Of course, not all ponies saw things that way, and many grew impatient as time dragged on. Something had to be done to end the changeling threat once and for all.
This story is a stand-alone sequel to From Equestria With Love. It is not necessary to have read the previous story.

All those artifacts now under lock and key in Canterlot Castle(or somewhere nearby)...it's like putting up a sign that says 'I'm right here, come steal me!' Though I guess they would beef up security for that.
Also, it's such a shame that Thunderball's cousins are being used as collateral in the game of politics.

The changelings were never a particularly common species before Chrysalis’ purge, and unless Equestria’s estimates of how many changelings still exist are at least an order of magnitude off then I doubt the changelings have enough genetic diversity left to survive as a species after this raid. 5,000 is the minimum needed for a species’ long‐term survival,¹ so Chrysalis’ plan to somehow breed with ponies had better come to fruition or the changelings are already extinct, they just don’t know it yet.
¹ The oft quoted 500 is good only for a few generations — less than a dozen and that’s being overly generous — whereas the less often quoted 50 is good only for a generation — two at tops.
