Pascoite

I'm older than your average brony, but then I've always enjoyed cartoons. I'm an experienced reviewer, EqD pre-reader, and occasional author.

As many such things do, it all started with Discord trying to help. And now Fluttershy can't escape the apocalyptic proclamations. Next time, she'll try the trick of wishing for no wishes.

Written for an Equestria Daily pre-readers' prompt exchange. Stories here.

My prompt was: "A character is given a wish. What might they wish for, and what are the consequences of the wish?"

The conceit of the story was cleverly done! The twist felt natural, which I truly wasn't expecting to be able to say. I was waiting at the end for Gummy to have been talking about the apocalypse after all, but I don't feel cheated by that not having happened.

Yeah, I'm with Fluttershy, time to find some place far away from Gummy.

Ragnarok. Comedy. Gummy.
How can it not be good?

I knew there had to be a twist, but I never would have guessed what it was. A very enjoyable story for sure.

Brilliant. I'm handing out upvotes like candy today!

Don't strain something. You have to pace yourself.

This is how my new headcanon

Fuckin' brilliant. You have to write more comedy, it seems. :V The stick gag was awesome.

Best thing I've seen all day. I can so clearly hear a dark, distorted voice ranting over dead-still shots of Gummy's depthless stare. It will, in fact, be difficult from now on to watch any scene with Gummy in it without assuming that this is what's going on. Bravo! :pinkiehappy::heart:

(EDIT - FRIDGE THOUGHT) Okay, so now I have to know: what was Gummy saying during the "No, I love you more!" bit in Just For Sidekicks?

This might be the best thing I've read in the last week or so.

Okay, so now I have to know: what was Gummy saying during the "No, I love you more!" bit in Just For Sidekicks?

"Her eyes pierced and heart rent asunder as her cries and supplications rise before Him. And she shall receive due recompense for her deeds. He will gaze upon her with favour and lift her head from the mire and decay into which she has been trampled."

"No, I love you more!" :pinkiehappy:

I'm hearing Vincent Price as Gummy's voice now.
Well done.
now where are those Gummy emoticons? :duck::pinkiecrazy:

Close, but I hear him as Maurice LaMarche.

Lo, and there came a headcanon slouching up the path of laughter.

(and it was good)

EDIT:

So apparently googling "gummy mlp" is going to be the highlight of my week every week for the rest of eternity.

Thumbed up so hard. :pinkiecrazy:

This is genius! I love it for so many reasons!

I'm hearing Gozar from Ghostbusters.

Pas, this was funny. I approve.

Holy fack. That chilled me to my bones.:applecry: At least until Pinkie cleared it all up. :pinkiegasp::pinkiehappy:

That was hilarious!:rainbowlaugh: Headcanon!:pinkiehappy:

This is the most adorable story I've ever read.

Oh my god, the explanation was hilarious!

Then again, considering Gummy's life, it's understandable he'd be like that.

Gummy is best troll.

He speaks in metaphor!

So I guess he'd understand those alien dudes from that one Star Trek TNG episode that kept blabbering on about Darmok and Gilard at Tenagra.

Shaka. When the walls fell.

4853217 Temba, his arms wide.

That was brilliant. Dark comedy of exactly the right kind for a show like FiM. It kind of reminds me of Rainbownomicon, which I also read recently. Hard call which one I like more. I'm leaning a little more towards this one, because this one had Discord and my love of all things Discord is well-documented, but on the other hand, I find it a little odd that Fluttershy didn't try to explain to him what was going on with Gummy before she explained to Twilight. I mean, Discord did start the whole thing after all.

Either way, it was a very enjoyable read. Thank you, Pascoite. Thank you for this fic.

Or Ragnarok, from Horse mythology.

And thank you especially for this pun. This was wonderful in every way. If I could marry a pun, it would be this one.

This is brilliant.

Simply brilliant.

Okay, that was pretty grand.

That was Gummies best, I can see Twilight pounding her head over and over on her desk as Gummy talks & Pinkie translates:pinkiehappy::facehoof:

:trollestia:

Melvin Quackenbush,

Fluttershy: "Mel-vin Quack-en-bush?"

Pinkie: "No, that's not how you pronounce it."

Fluttershy: "Huh?"

Pinkie: "It might look like Mel-vin Quack-en-bush, but it's really Throatwobbler Mangrove."

LOL. That is adorable. I was really freaked out by some of the descriptions too ... yet they make so much sense. LOL melodramatic Gummy giving everything gruesome descriptions.

Brilliant! I love your portrayal of Pinkie. And Gummy. My only complaint is your use of "caustic" in reference to an acid. It's technically fine, but "corrosive" is more appropriate.

I accept this new headcanon, for it made me laugh tremendously! A well-executed dark comedy indeed. :pinkiehappy: Have my fave!

Did you predict episode 100 or something?:derpyderp1:

I'm having trouble finding words for how I feel about this.
On the one hand Gummy's inner metaphors are now my headcanon, what with 100th episode and all. And it's hilarious to boot.
But on the other hand, this just freaks me the fuck out. Who knew talking about the apocalypse can actually be a metaphor for eating a three-course? I sure didn't.

Well, adopting new terrifying headcanon and...done.

In all seriousness, this was amazing and hilarious, and I certainly didn't see the twist coming. Hell, I never even thought you could use

apocalyptic prophecies to describe food.

Although, the disturbing question is why the bloody hell he talks like that.

...

Regardless, I enjoyed this and it's definitely deserving of a like and a fav.

Who knew talking about the apocalypse can actually be a metaphor for eating a three-course?

I'm pretty sure Discworld had a bit of that going too, with the Rite of AshkEnte. The "bit of raw egg" mentioned as an ingredient is almost certainly a wizardly take on requiring an unborn child. Creepiest omelette recipe ever.

Plot Twist. Gummy is actually heralding the apocalypse, and Pinkie's covering for him.
