How hard must it be to describe something so simple as color to a blind pony?
Perhaps not as simple as you thought. For each color is a mix and a tumble of stories, of pasts, and presents and futures. We are all made of colors. We are all paintings.
How would we appear to a blind pony?
Snowdrop reflects upon what she has been told about color and what it means to her.

Snowdrop is from an animation from Silly Filly Studios.

did you know there are no words in the English language that can fully describe a color apart from a shade? its actually (so far) impossible to describe how the shade of red you see to another person because every human being sees red differently.

still, good story. short but sweet and may get me thinking for awhile.

you got a like, favorite and a follow!

Description: How hard must it be to describe something so simple as color to a blind pony?
Perhaps not as simple as you thought. For each color is a mix and a tumble of stories, of pasts, and presents and futures. We are all made of colors. We are all paintings.

Snowdrop reflects upon what she has been told about color and what it means to her.

Before: Snowdrop is somewhat infamous for being an emotionally manipulative character concept, but this short story's description sounds interesting enough. Let's see what happens.

After: This gets points from me right away for not playing the sympathy card; if anything, Snowdrop on the whole seems a bit blasé about being blind. The writing is solid; I didn't see (pun unintended) a single mistake. The content of the story itself is basically Snowdrop ruminating on what others have told her different colors are like, basically, taking the colors-as-emotions-and-metaphors thing and running with it. It's nice, but doesn't really go anywhere. Also, there wasn't anything in here particularly snowdrop-ish or even pony-ish; you could have easily substituted in Ray Charles and this story wouldn't have really read any differently. I would encourage the author to take their solid and clear writing style and apply it to bigger and bolder story ideas.

Verdict: Read if you like harmless blind pony fluff.

This is Super Trampoline's 1st review.

4618802 Thank you so much for doing this!! If you don't mind me asking, why did you pick my story for your first review? Just curious since other people had asked before I did.

4618840 It was short and didn't look like it would make me gouge my eyes out.

4618861 Oh, that makes sense. Kinda wondering what would make you want to gouge your eyes out though.

4618868 Somepony asked me to review THIS

4619076 Wow...that's terrible.

This was very interesting! I loved the concept, and some of your phrasing was memorable. ("White, the impossible color" is probably my favourite,) The biggest problem with the fic, as SuperTrampoline mentioned, is that the narrator really doesn't convince as Snowdrop: her character doesn't fit, even if this is supposed to be an older Snowdrop. If you'd made her an OC and fleshed out the story just slightly to give her a bit of depth, this could have been so much more.

A beautiful story. I really enjoyed it! :rainbowkiss:

There is another part of white. White is the color of the wind and snow. White is the color a fresh start like a blank piece of paper waiting to be drawn on. But the most important part of white is: it is the color of new friendships as they first appear.
