It had been nearly four score since the defeat of Triek, and the peace brought on by the Rainbows lasted for that whole time. Yet everypony knew, time was against them, and that war was inevitable. The many catastrophes Equestria had endured had led most Ponies to believe Celestia unfit to lead. She did everything she could to ensure she would remain in charge.

Luna would not stand for her treachery, and thus started the Great Lunar Rebellion. With the Elements of Harmony on her side, and even the Spirit of Chaos thanks to the Element of Kindness, she swiftly and decisively crushed Celestia's forces. The battle raged across the nation, but all paths lead to the final battle in Canterlot.
But what do the Elements find when they are tasked with putting an end to the rule of Celestia once and for all?

I would hope to clarify, it's not the same as Shindler's List in that Luna isn't ordering the complete eradication of the population of each city because she wants to, or is cruel or whatever, but because of the spell Celestia cast. The spell keeps those under it's affects loyal to Celestia and makes them fight until they win or die, even the little fillies. As such she has to either kill them all or lose the war. It's not because she wants to be evil, but because she just wants the war to end, and while Celestia and her 'mind-controlled army' are still alive, that won't happen...

The whole barbarism thing is that at the time, yes it was WAY to barbaric, especially since there was no trial or anything, just Chrysalis's death... but after that, war does things to you, right? It can change how you think, and some people are willing to do anything to win a war, even if it's just so the war will end, right?
