Not a bad idea for a story. My only criticism is that we aren't really given an idea on what happened. "Messing up a spell" doesn't really say it and just leaves me a bit annoyed we aren't given the answer. I'm sure Celestia or such would figure it out and tell Spike, leading to Spike eventually writing down what it was.
Also for the idea you were going for, a few more entries, dragging it out just slightly longer might have been good.
Nice. It could use a bit more of content, but I guess with the "journal entries" approach, you couldn't actually do much more.

the story was a good read. the rhythm and pacing was pretty even, though you would have to take into effect the periods between each posting. some people might complain about that, but it helps with the overall feel.
Hmph, well, that was certainly very sad, nicely paced and such... not much to say honestly, it was just genuinely sad.

Didn't really liked the story cuz of the ending...don't get me wrong...it was good and I'm sure you had good intentions but...it was kinda dark and deep. So Spike will be waiting forever? Where is twilight? What was the spell? Is Twilight dead? Are the Mane six gonna be dead before Twilight comes back?
Questions that will never be answered as you don't intend on making a sequel. You said that people are free to do a sequel on this story but it would still be incomplete as the original writer of the story didn't make the sequel...just like My Little Dashie...

I'm guessing that the spell really was some sort of teleportation spell, but something went wrong and she got disconnected from their dimension. Like, maybe now she isn't connected via the space and/or time dimensions and she's still "there", but she can't interact with anything and nobody can see/hear her.
If this is the case, then it's likely Spike will wait until he dies and the rest of the Mane 6 will die before she gets back, if she ever gets back at all. And if Twilight is an alicorn in this story (and I'm thinking she is) then she'll be stuck there until the end of the universe. Y'know, since she's immortal and all.
