Using Parchment in books? BIG no no, Given that Parchment is made from Calf Skin (Or sheep or goat). I know it Sounds like a Good replacemnt to make something seem old, But I honestly doubt anypont would be comfortable with the idea of anything written on Dead Children's skin. The same problem exists with Vellum, another Pre-paper Paper substitute.

This chapter reminds me of the scene in Eldest where Eragon is learning how to harness natural energy. I'm anxious to see what Sweetie does with this power.

You're using the tags "said, muttered, asked, etc." too much in your fic. Not every piece of dialogue needs to be followed by these tags. These help clarify who's speaking, but aren't really necessary if the reader can draw the conclusion them self. This sort of came to me after I had read the chapter, I'm guessing the reason I didn't see it at first was just from the excitement of the update. It looks like you put a lot of time into this chapter.

Thank you for the feedback, it's always appreciated, I'll keep it in mind as I keep writing.  I will keep updating it every two weeks; however, since I have started writing this story, my writing has been getting quicker.  Maybe in the near future I'll get them out every week, but what's most important is that people are enjoying it.

Well, there was one section where I was ready to punch my computer screen if I had to read the word magic one more time, but this was a pretty good chapter.

I do wonder, though, if Scoddri will show his evil side when Sweetie Belle is confronted by her friends...

So what does Discord hope to accomplish with this? That's the major question here.

He could be angling for his freedom. Maybe. But one would think that if that was truly his goal, he'd have mentioned it by now (aside from that story). He might just be trying to bring more chaos, in which case, it's certainly working. Or maybe, just maybe, he's just doing it because he wants to teach, and Sweetie Belle happens to be the first potential student. Or perhaps a combination of those last two: added chaos with a student to boot. This last, as unlikely as it sounds, I think may well be the case, in which case bravo, you have made me actually like the idea of a somewhat lighter and softer Discord.

No, the filly told herself, shaking out her mane in an attempt to clear her mind. I made my decision and I'm sticking to it.  If they choose to follow me, then that's their choice, not mine. I need to think of something else.

I'm guessing this is a typo. Shouldn't this be italicized, introduced as thought speech, or something? Otherwise it's pretty much switching from 3rd person to 1st.

This story is great so far a really intresting take on magic, and i can't wait to see what Discord gets out of this, im betting even though the "chaos magic" is just Natural Magic that in essence that nature can be construed as Organized chaos that he will some how break free after Sweetie starts to use alot of it but that is just my take.

I thought that Scoddri was telling Sweetie Belle to guide a lightning bolt into the cave to strike the pile of wood through the entrance.  Yeah, harnessing the power of a crystal is probably A LOT safer than attempting to harness lie power of lightning.

Not sure where the author's going with this, but if Discord used to be a pony, perhaps he saw magic like this Sweetie Belle does. Or maybe he's transferring some of his abilities over for fun. Or maybe he's just altering her perception of reality.

Whatever the case may be, I think he's doing this because he's genuinely bored and/or forever alone.

Between this and Discordant all we need is a fic where Discord telepathically speaks with Applebloom and the Crusaders' journey to the Dark Side shall be complete!

Another phenominal chapter. I love how incredibly detailed you are in your writing and you draw out the traits of everything in each chapter, from the flowing streams, to various fauna of the forest, and even the detailed crackle and shimmer of a warm fire. Bravo I say! I await on baited breath for another chapter.

Sweetie Belle is becoming powerful as Discord's 'apprentice'. Chaos magic seems to be a very magical thing and I can't wait to see more of Sweetie's adventures and eventual confrontation with the elements and her friends, for look out, Sweetie is now a chaos mage!

I have to say, I've loved this story ever since I read the first chapter, I just wish that it would update more, the wait kills me everytime!

il admit, i avoided this story the first time i saw it due to only having 140ish thumbs, but after i saw it on display, i figured id actually give it a read, and this story is amazing so far! i must apoligise for this initial assumption, and i really should have given it more of a chance. I am very interested to see the direction this story is going to go, will it end with sweetie belle`s return to ponyville, or will you explore her magical talents further after she learns about them more? maby she will break discord out and have a battle to the death with chaos magic! :O nah that would be kinda stupid, but i look forward to what you do nonetheless.

The fact that Ruben knows who Sweetie Belle is implys one of two things

1. the Mane 6 have enlisted help in their search

2. the diamond dogs simply got wind of a lost unicorn called Sweetie, whom they can steal for gem hunting.

Follow Ruben, my dear Sweetie, but do not take anything at face value.

Loving this series, the Chaos magic seems similar to Tamora Pierce's Wild magic; the fundamental power that flows through everything, out of reach of most mages, and thus not recognised as a true magic disipline.
