Twilight Sparkle is lost and broken, living a new life in a new town, she has forgotten who she truly is. Something happened to Twilight in Equestria that caused her sudden departure, and has half of Equestria scouring the planet for her.
"What did I do?" Is... not a question Twilight had thought of. She'd been happy, and content living her new life in Frostglade. However, she'd always felt like there were pieces to herself missing. Like, she'd lost something important.
When Sunset Shimmer and Trixie Lulamoon finally track her down after months of searching (and barely tolerating the other's presence), the reunion is not a happy one. Their presence has upset Twilight's new life by revealing the first step in unraveling the web of secrets bottled up in Twilight's psyche.
The three mares journey to a place of ancient magic, where they must piece together Twilight's shattered memories, solve the mystery, and then finally go home to where they truly belong. Of course, their journey will not be easy; dark shadows follow Twilight's every move, trying to stop her party from seeing the truth. If that weren't bad enough, it's not just Twilight Sparkle who is being tested by the challenges of the Nexus.

This story had the benefit of having a much longer cooking time in my brain, whereas the other story I came up with in like... 5 minutes, and spent 2 hours writing it.
I'm actually surprised people liked it, even more surprised that so many people like this story. Kind of makes me feel like I'm defusing a bomb, only instead of fiery death it... nope, actually it is just like fiery death if I mess up.
Yeah, I saw it was in the popular list... and then I fainted.
I ended up missing the 100th favorite!

When I was drawing the teaser artwork many moons ago, I had just about finished it when I noticed, Trixie and Twilight's eye colors were too similar when standing side by side with Sunset, and it made my brain go: "No.
I tried pleading with my brain, but it would not have any of my silver-tongued witchcraft!
And then my brain did something it was very adept at: "Procrastinate for 9 hours." And then it did the other thing it was good at: "It came up with a reason for Twilight's new eye color." It's something that I was constantly worried about during the writing process.
The in-story reason is something I can't reveal right now. I wouldn't call it a huge spoiler, but I don't wanna set anything in stone until I get to that part of the story, in case I come up with a better explanation for the eyes.

If it's any consolation, I was constantly racked with guilt over the past few weeks. 
Awesome chapter. Though I do have to say, the fact that Twilight is an alicorn should've tipped her and everypony else off at some point that she might be from Canterlot or the Crystal Empire, seeing as those are the only two locations where alicorns are known to live. Unless that isn't true in this fic, and there are more of them out there. It just rubs me the wrong way that no one would think to contact either city about an amnesiac alicorn, even if they were unaware that there is a fourth one in their midst. Aside from that bit, I look forward to seeing what the hell is going on in Twilight's noggin. Update again soon!

After reading through the first chapter. I can say I'm impressed. The fact that you put enough time and effort into a story like this is beyond my level of comprehension. Maybe it's because whenever I'm about to write something I immediately delete it because I crack under pressure like a walnut in a car compactor .3.
