Everypony remembers Tirek, the infamous, magic-stealing monster that walked Equestria all those years ago. However, few remember his brother, or the sacrifice he made to secure the future of ponykind.
Spike on the other hand remembers Scorpan quite well. Far more than he should, in fact. When memories from the distant past begin to emerge, memories of Scorpan and a dragon that looks uncannily similar to Spike, he has many questions, and very few answers.
Why does Spike have memories of a time eons past, and more importantly, why does the name ‘Scorpan’ sound so familiar?

Totally random, I know, but the description for your story gave me strange thought. Now, I'm typically a 'Starswirl became Discord' fan, but...
What if Starswirl became Spike? This could be a fun idea for me to work with if I ever got the chance, and... My god... It could explain even more than the Discord story would! I mean, why would Celestia be holding onto a single solitary dragon egg for who knows how long? Why would that egg seemingly ONLY open for Twilight? Why, despite some childish tendencies, does Spike seem to be far more mature and witty than should be normal for his age? And perhaps the reason he feels like a pony at heart, with virtually nothing in common with other dragons is just as much Nature as it was implied to be Nurture?
Starswirl in all likely knew about the Tree of Harmony, and saw the symbol of magic at the top of its trunk. So maybe as old age started to creep up on him, and his own attempts to ascend to alicorn status bore no fruit, he decided to both extend his life, and help Celestia find the one whose mark was on the tree. Most myths of dragons have their incubation periods last till it is simply time to awaken, so what if Starswirl transmogrified himself into an egg that only magic of one bearing that mark could hatch?
...WHEW! That's a mini-doozy of an idea, and doubtless I'm not the only one that's ever thought of it. Still, I was on a roll and just couldn't stop typing.
I've been waiting for more Scorpan fics ever since RainbowBob's story. I can tell this is going to be amazing.

The Spike that was with Scorpan was G1, and the Spike we know today is G4. Maybe G4 is G1's great-grandson?
4761559 I actually have a theory about this. G1 Spike IS G4 Spike, but reincarnated. Some dragons were set to be protectors of Princesses, or members of royalty. Kinda makes sense since G4 Spike protected Twilight, helped her grow into a Princess. Their has been many more Spike's than G1 and G4 Spike, but we only know of these two. Just a theory.

Ok well here is my headcanon. The king of the demons married and had three kids: leviathan, behemoth and goliath. he had an affair with a pony which produced Tierk and Scorpan. Because they hate their pony blood and their half-brothers ridicule them, they traveled to Equestria to take their revenge but Scorpan befriends the ponies. When Tirek tried to remove a pony's soul, he found he could only remove their magic, much to his annoyance. Then he strikes an idea, steal all the ponies's magic and use it to destroy his half-brothers and gain the attention of his father.
Very, very, interesting. I can't wait for the update.
