Because with the release of the new Magic expansion, someone was going to make a Nyx story with this title. So it might as well be me.

Nyx and her friends have been playing the card game "Science: The Convergence." But when she finds that the new expansion set is apparently named after her, she's upset. Then furious when she discovers it's more than just the set with her name on it...

Magic the Gathering is owned by Hasbro. Nyx is owned by Pen Strokes, from 'Past Sins' and it's sequels. Seriously, go read it instead of this.

I desperately want a pony based MTG expansion. Now.

Luna could be a two-sided card with Nightmare Moon on the other side.

Flaming Pony Horror, hahaha!

Now this is the story I like to read: very short, but very random and funny. Being a Magic: The Gathering fan, I couldn't help but laugh when "Journey Into Nyx" set came out. I'm glad someone wrote a fanfic referencing the set. :rainbowlaugh:

I could actually see a flip card called 'Luna- Princess of the Night/ Nightmare Moon'

This....This is hilarious.... I was trying not to burst out laughing because it was late and I couldn't wake a friend, but inside, this whole thing just had me rotflmao the entire time. :rainbowlaugh: congratulations.

It's a homonym. Magic has a vampire character named Sorin Markov. Sorin and Soarin sound alike.

6007507 I know about Sorin Markov. He's the planeswalker who summons 1/1 vampires with lifelink. my question is if Soarin' is supposed to be Sorin why isn't Soarin' a planeswalker?

Magic The Gathering had a spell card that was the equivalent of a nuclear bomb. The CMC card should be at least that destructive. :pinkiecrazy:

That is perfect and fits in with MTG and MLP. And now I would like to see MLP MTG cards.

Wow. How did I miss this? Rather amusing, though the templating is a bit... well, off. I apologize, but this kind of my thing.

Nyx: Nyx WUBRG
Legendary Creature — Alicorn Pony
W: Nyx gains flying until end of turn.
U: Nyx can't be blocked this turn.
B: Nyx gains lifelink until end of turn.
R, T: Nyx deals 1 damage to target player
G, T: Put a 1/1 green Pony creature token named Crusaders onto the battlefield.
2/3

Not sure I really buy that Nyx is all colors. White-black seems more up her alley. Also, the card itself is quite underpowered. Compare Cromat. Furthermore, her white and blue abilities are fairly redundant.

Soarin' Markov: Unless Cloud is a land type in Science: the Convergence, cloudwalking has no apparent rules meaning. Even if that's the case, it should be cloudwalk. Furthermore, keywords after the first don't need to be capitalized, and the list shouldn't end in a period. Cf. Akroma. I won't say anything regarding possible planeswalker status, but conserving creature types is always a good idea; there's no reason Soarin' can't be a Pegasus Vampire. Also, nonlegendary creatures shouldn't have proper names. As is, you can have four Soarin's out at the same time.

Tom: Tom 4
Artifact Creature — Rock
Cast Tom only if a permanent named Rarity is on the battlefield.
When there are no permanents named Rarity on the battlefield, exile Tom.
Tom's power and toughness are each equal to the number of discord counters on permanents named Rarity.

Aside from the horribly parasitic card design (Making the card completely dependent on another specific card, to the point of it dying twice when there isn't one? Not advisable,) you haven't accounted for how the "legend rule" allows each player to control a legendary permanent with the same name. Furthermore, again, nonlegendary creatures should have more generic names.

Twilight Ablaze: If everyone loses at the same time, the game is a draw. Also, this would probably work a lot better as a Unicorn Berserker, and I see no reason to ever play one, unless you're also running Platinum Angel and are That Guy. And, once again, nonlegendary creatures need generic names.

Now that I've satisfied my compulsion, again, entertaining little story.

Well she got a mythic rare...

Do you mean like Wrath of God, Rout, Damnation, Worldfire, Armageddon, Jokulhaups, Terminus, Worldbreaker, All Is Dust...Magic has more than one nuke.

I'm not into the game myself. I just remember a friend mentioning it.

6494721
Fair enough. Sorry if I came across as hostile, I was more amused by how many things in Magic could be called "nukes," given that at this point I'm pretty sure there's like two new ones each year.

Lol twilight

all the pictures are just lines of text saying "0x0 px"
rip me..

Odd. They're still working for me.

just figured it out, turns out it was my school's stupid content filter lmao

Damn this was a great story, please tell me that you are planning on making a sequel to it.

Not every creature with a name is legendary, actually, in actual MTG. There are some that should, but aren’t because of some reasoning. Anyways, so I think that point is fairly moot due to Ali Baba, Sensei’s Divining Top, and other cards.

10231261
Ali Baba predated the legendary supertype, and there can be (and apparently is) more than one teacher's fortune-telling spinny thing in all of Kamigawa. Some other examples were cases of insufficient world building, especially in Homelands.

The point is that if it has a proper name, convention dictates that it should be legendary if possible. Otherwise, use a more generic name for it. Like Sensei's Divining Top. :raritywink:

10231537
Shoot! You saw the holes in my argument! Anyways, I had decided to seek out resources and found a thread of various examples of generic names that still should only have one, such as Mayor of Avabruck, but you can have four mayors for one town.

10235009
Avabruck actually goes through a new mayor every month. They kept electing werewolves so often, they ended up just reducing the term to one lunar cycle. :derpytongue2:

10235018
but at one time, they can have upwards of 16 mayors, since I can control four current mayors, same with you, Alfred, and Jenny over there.
