Oh yeah! Skyfall is back! I remember watching Dusk Quill write this live a few months back! Certainly this would be more exciting if I've never read this before, but it's exiting nonetheless.
I remember seeing an episode of Family Guy where they're parodying the movie Taken, and there was this joke about how it doesn't make sense to chain prisoners to a pipe. Even though we can't see what's going on here, I imagine something like that happened.
You know who's responsible for that line staying here. Me!
I will already hazzard the guess that it's either Fleethoof or Shining Armor. I imagine we will get through most of the story before finding out who definitively.
Onward to the rest of the exciting premiere of Skyfall: Retribution!
Anyone think that's kind of awkward. Midnight never left his side while at the hospital, and Fleethoof is wearing a pendant with Cadance's butt mark on it.
And also we have the bromance between Fleethoof and Shining Armor fall apart. Not that it's not justifiable.

Shining's eye is injured. Like he'll need an eyepatch perhaps. Didn't one of the jailers in the prologue mention that the prisoner they brought in had a "patch"? As in eyepatch.
So, it must be Shining Armor then.

Seems like that's going to be over pretty quickly. I thought Shining was going to spend the rest of the story hating Fleethoof's guts over what happened.

I'll have you know I'm still waiting for someone to get the bright idea of mounting 2 helicopter engines sideways, hooking them up to a pair of treads, and putting the whole assembly inside a 10 mm steel box with a gun turret.
So wonderful. I didn't get to see this for the "grand opening" due to work, but I finally had some free time to sit down and read.
So worth it and so awesome!

...though it does have that "Secret Agent Pony" thing going with it.
4754633 At this point Alaric's claim to the Kingdom's throne is moot and his supporters are considered enemies of the current reigning power. Though I doubt we'll see any of the Kingdom's politics in this story. At this point Alaric is pretty much running around on his own with a small army of supporters. Though as DQ has shown, Alaric has gotten pretty good at using minimal resources to cause pain for the Equestrians. I'm really looking forward to seeing what DQ brings to us next!

I can not express to you how much I want this story to have Candence/ Fleeethoof for some reason Midnight/Fleethoof doesn't sit right with me. Is it wrong of me to want Fleethoof to win Cadences heart.

Took me a bit to find out about this, but it certainly holds up to the rest of the series. I speak Spanish, so these Spaniard guards talking with mixed language make perfect sense to me... mostly because I occasionally do that myself in conversation with others, usually resulting in them being extremely confused about what I just said.

You would be correct. The firearms basically have a lack of a trigger guard or wider guards and slightly elongated triggers to allow all sorts of races to use them, but otherwise similar functions and mechanics to ours.

Uh, aren't you supposed to send new recruits to the front? How else are you supposed to get hardened veterans?
You send the recruits to the front to harden them and to conserve your already existing veteran pool. If you sent in your veterans first, they would do well, but if they get wiped out, all you have left are recruits with no experienced veterans left for you to rely on when shit hits the fan.
You might need those experienced troops later so send in the fresh troops first and expand your veteran pool.
So the Captain of the Royal Guard doesn't have the brain to do something very basic and scout the surrounding area before attacking?

4866921 You would send new recruits with a handful of veterans so you have somebody competent when shit goes south for the recruits or they inevitably fuck up, but for the most part that is how a veteran is made. ;O
