In the waning days of the Byzantine Empire, a mysterious prophet appears in the court of Emperor Konstantinos XI Palaiologos promising him virgin lands far to the west where he might rebuild the Empire in all its glory. With the Ottomans encroaching on his small dominion, and efforts to repair relations with the Western Church a complete and utter failure; the Emperor decides to build and buy a fleet with to see himself and his people safely across the sea in the hopes of reaching Elysium...

Little do they know; the "prophet" which promised Konstantinos paradise and his people safety has his own agenda, the god of chaos using the Byzantines as mere pawns in the opening phases of his twisted game.

Interesting concept, liking what I've read so far and hoping to see more soon. :pinkiehappy:

A historical crossover? Hmm, I ought to see where this goes.

Thank you, very much; I hope you enjoy the story and are satisfied with what will come of this. Admittedly the likes-to-dislikes ratio is a bit disappointing so far. Not my best in terms of reception, but here's hoping that turns around soon.

Aye; here's hoping you enjoy the story. I will make it known that we won't be following the exploits of Konstantinos and Demetrios in the chapters to come, no; they played their roles. The non-pony protagonists are Demetrios' daughters, Helena (Who historically existed) and Kyra, who was born in Elysium (As the Exiles tend to say when speaking ofl Equestria).

A story about Byzantium? Marry me.

(Constantine XI is best pony)

Aye; Byzantium in Equestria; I'm glad you like the idea and hope you enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Byzantine Empire crossover? YISSS

Really interesting, you don't deserve the dislikes.

Aye, that it is good sir. I was wondering if anyone might notice that.

I have to make a comment on this story.

First of all, I do appreciate the Byzantium story but the Emperor (Basileus in this case; meaning Sovereign in Greek and in time it did acquire the connotation of Emperor, since the empire was primarily Greek after the split) never referred to himself as the Byzantine Emperor or Emperor of Byzantium. The very fact and term that is the 'Byzantine Empire' is strictly modern jargon to refer to the Eastern Roman Empire after the split between the massive empire of Rome. The Empire itself, Empire of the Romans would be Basileia Ton Romaion while Roman Empire would be 'Basileia Rhōmaiōn', while the Emperor himself would refer to his title as Roman Emperor, 'Ro̱maíos Basileus'.

Hope this tidbit of information helps with the story and if need be, do feel free on asking for further clarification.

Ah, thank you, I'll keep this in mind for future chapters and edit the previous ones when I get the chance. I'm glad that you otherwise enjoy this story and will have the next chapter up in a couple days, hopefully.

Such polite, diplomatic resolution to first contact. Bravo.

Can't wait to see how it all goes pear shaped.:trollestia:

Byzantine crossover? Instant like and fave!!!!

Isn't the Byzantine Empire called the "Roman Empire" or "New Rome" during the medieval ages?

Celestia lowering OUR sun? Oh gods.

The chat between Celestia and Emperor was rather, cheesy and awkward, when taking the fact that they have never seen each other.

The thing that most pokes me into the eye is that Equestria exists on Earth.

Second is that Emperor is far too accepting when it comes to magic.
If I was suddenly teleported By powerful being capable of moving stars, I wouldn't just be "oh, she just teleported me, no biggie".

Third is that everything is going too fast.
Strange beings arrive at our coast?
Give them land and shit, because friendship overrides everything, even national security.

And Celestia and Luna presented as gods?
Oh, ffs.

Anyways, I shall bid you good luck.

I am REALLY liking this fic right now. keep up the great work!

YASSSSSSSSSS... not enough material concerning the Byzzies on this site. Jesus. This needs to be turned into an all out Alternate History Timeline!
