I like Vinyl and Octavia's personalities in this fic. They seem expertly placed and I would love the chance to adopt my own Scootaloo :D

Why, I was just making a nice french omelet for myself - what with cutting the onions, and the garlic, and the ham, and a bit of jalapeno to liven things up - when I brought the hand I had use to hold the onions and the peppers up to wipe my eyes; and by Celestia, I still seem to be tearing up! I mean, it's not like Sad-Scoots could ever bring so much as a semblance of a tear to my eyes, right? Eenope, definitely the onions and peppers... Definitely. As it happens, these are all just synonyms for a street urchin.  I have a list of them, enough to get me through about 10 chapters, in case I need them, but I probably won't.  I like esoteric chapter names, and generally put a lot of time into coming up with unique ones, or at least unique themes for them.

Another lovely chapter. just what i needed after a shitty two days of work related stress and family-induced insanity.

Love it.  Touching, warm, and has wonderful characterization.  Something seems a bit off about Scoots, but that could just as easily be a matter of interperetation.

another epic chapter that made my morning. I'm loving Octavia's motherly attitude. It's oddly fitting. And Vinyl's Rough personality perfectly matched that of a father. A little rough around the edges, but far from uncaring or unloving. please keep up the good work.

Awwww, poor little chickaloo! My "Pinkie-sense" is telling me that it's not going to be so easy, but I do hope that everything works out for them. Octavia and Vinyl are one of my favourite pairs and Scoot is my favourite of the foals.

Scootaloo seems a bit -too- cautious, in that she's not acting anywhere near as brash as I'm used to seeing.  I'd have expected her to throw up a lot more of an 'I'm doing just fine' sort of a front.  Again, that could just be personal interperetation.

Either way, I'm enjoying this story quite a bit.

Nope, nope.  Tatterdemalion is a legitimate synonym for an orphan.  It's just also one of my favorite words, so I decided to bring it in before I ran out of chapters.  I've got at least two more synonyms (although I fear I might actually start to run out of synonyms before the story ends...).

Vinyl Rage is a very scary thing, but very awesome. Another great chapter as usual, though might i make a suggestion? if i did already, forgive me, but it would be easier to read if you broke up those HYOOJ paragraphs. I had to read over a couple parts once or twice to get what was going on, but other than that, you're good. I got the same advice from someone who read one of my fics, and I did, and they really are easier to read.

This is the second best Scootaloo story I have ever read! It's more than a little disconcerting to know that, apparantly, everypony knew about Scootaloo living on the streets and nopony did anything about it, but Vynil doing stuff about it is so heartwarming!

There should really be an emoticon for D'aaaaaaaw!

Yay, this story continues to make me smile. I would never have imagined Mr. Cake being the sort to get that angry though. He sure doesn't look like it. And he ignored Vinyl too. Most ponies wouldn't COMPLETELY ignore a 'what is going on here' in the middle of a public shop. That would give him really bad press. Though being a monopoly that wouldn't be TOO big a problem.

Anyway, great story, keep up the good work.

This chapter started strong but left me cold in the end. It could have been an excellent bit of character development and conflict, except for first Cake being too OOC (Mr. Nice Guy attacking a foal in a shop full of customers?) - it should have been subtler but enough to raise some ire, and not a full-blown fight.

But then Pinkie Pie was overdone and ruined whatever that part had going for it. The multi-paragraph trip to Pinkie's room only distracted from the chapter even more. The end result could have been the same with same emotion but a lot less violence, and then it wouldn't have been such a letdown.

And I totally appreciate your opinion.  Part of me wanted to be more reserved with Mr. Cake's reaction, but in the end I decided that his personality is less legitimately "Nice Guy" and much more superficially "Nice," like he's putting up a facade in order to hide deeper issues.  I know that's a unique perception, and is likely to cause issues with people who think he really is a nice person, but I'm alright with that.

Pinkie is without a doubt the hardest of the Mane 6 to write for.  It's almost impossible to capture her personality without under- or overdoing it.  In the end, I feel like I wrote a vague shadow of the real Pinkie, and I'm still not altogether pleased with it.

The multi-paragraph trip to Pinkie's room was mostly informative.  If it detracted, I am sorry, but I like it where it is.

Honest critique is very valuable and meaningful to me, for what it's worth.  I do hope you keep reading regardless.

A very lovely, heartwarming, tear-bidding story.

I will eagerly await updates.

Also, side-note, I think the little interjections you add into the story, other might see them as irrelevant or random, are spectacular.

It really adds into the back story of the Octavia and Vinyl, giving us deeper insight into the interactions they have had, or will have with others and Scootaloo in the past and future.

by the by, this fic has given me a new look at Vinyl, I have never read another one were she used magic like a regular unicorn, normally only saving it music or art related things and simple levitation. It was a pleasant change of perspective on one of the characters I favor more....that and Octavia is my second favorite background pony behind Berry Punch.

its almost grim dark but not in any over the top gory way you know no pony dies atleast that i can think of
