The idea is promising but there is not enough here for me to pass sufficient judgement just yet. I shall return upon the release of more chapters, once I can get some better idea of the writing quality and the direction the story will be taking, but for now I will say that you do indeed have my interest.
Looks promising, definitely interested. One minor issue: How does Sombra know that he's near Ponyville? The show states he was imprisoned 1,000 years ago, and Granny Smith remembers the founding of Ponyville, therefor placing the time of it's founding at around 100 years beforehand, if we assume ponies live to the average human lifespan. Even if it was around when Sombra was, It would have likely only been a small settlement, probably unnamed at the time. Otherwise, I see no problem with this story so far.

Usually I start a story with high hopes, but then I get another idea and think it's better than the last, and lose all motivation it. But who knows, maybe the motivation will come back.
