On the Eve of the Summer Sun Celebration, the forsaken Princess, Nightmare Moon returns to claim her vengeance upon the ones who had shunned her and her night. As Nightmare appears and lashes out at Twilight, a rushed defense spelled causes an unknown being to crash onto the scene right after Nightmare, saving the lavender unicorn in the process. With a cocky grin and devil don’t care attitude, the unknown blue creature smirks and challenges the Nightmare without a second thought.

Please don't take this whole comment the wrong way, I just want to help you see this story through to it's best possible state.
"Clinging to each other they both screamed bloody murder as they feel to the worm’s opened maw." *fell I also might consider subbing "into" for the simple "to," but that's just me, you're the one actually writing.
Most Sonic crossovers I've seen end poorly, but I think you've made a good choice using the (as of yet unreleased) sonic boom 'cannon' as the base for the crossover. Take the time you've got to be bold with Sonic's character, and, if you're feeling gutsy, his world, because we have no released cannon to compare with.
Overall, I like what you've put out for this so far, have given a thumbs-up like at the top, and I hope to see you do well with it, I'll be checking in every once in while to see if you've gotten any new chapters published.

Hopefully the idea will be carried through successfully at the end of the day, but I guess we just need to wait and see.
As another critique though, be careful with your use of words, not in choice but content, chances are that you won't have the same problem twice, but the opening scene didn't actually do anything new, the language read exactly the same as the scene in the show with no new sensory input, for a crossover, this is fine as some readers may not be familiar with both universes, but on FimFic, you can probably count on people being familiar with the basics of the MLP side of it, so a little flare would be appreciated and hold attention. Describe how humid, or cold, or hot the room was for instance, and you introduce a detail not picked up in the visual medium of the show.

I'm enjoying this because I like the characters, but this chapter was basically just the MLP:FIM second episode in writing. Sonic and Eggman were just kind of there; they didn't really change anything. I hope they shake things up a bit later on.
