Ideals are peaceful. Reality is not.

"Ponies just bursting into song in random places at the drop of a hat? Who does that?!" were her exact words while in Manehattan.
Yet shortly after her visit to the big city, Rainbow Dash wakes up one morning unable to stop spontaneously singing.

Perhaps the city left a bigger hoofprint on her than she'd like.

discord........ it just has to be discord.

Ah musical theater, I shall be be keeping an eye on this one. There's no business like show business, like no business I know.

I really love this idea! I have a great appreciation for the theatrical arts, and love staged performances, but the fact that in the story Rainbow (or AJ) isn't aware of what's going on just makes it funnier. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to more!

This is so funny. I love this fic. It would make a good actual episode.

I've got a theory~
That it's a demon~
A dancing demon-
No, something isn't right there.

3754826 That would be funny to see with this story. In the end pinkie summoned a demon to make everything happy and sing songy after seeing the musical. Twilight comes across the pendant while trying to figure things out at sugarcube corner and the demon wants her as his queen. Could only imagine how it would go once he found out his queen is pinkie pie. "It's tempting, but I think we can ignore that clause just this once." Would love to see this go along the lines of Buffy's 'Once more with Feeling'

Neat story. Oddly enough, this appeared on the same day that I just submitted a story with the title ': The Musical" in it as well.

Wow, you people.

Musicals are awesome! However, when I saw Rarity Takes Manehattan, I was surprised there weren't that many musical stories on FimFiction, and none of this notion. So, I delivered. :duck:

3754826 3755198
... Where do you people come up with this stuff? :rainbowderp:

3755328
Well then best of luck to you.

What, you've never seen the Buffy musical episode?

Here's a ponified version of that song I was starting.

The Episodes name is Once More With Feeling. And it's rather brilliant. I have it's soundtrack on my iPod and the song's are great in and of themselves.

3755517 It was actually taken from an episode of Buffy the vampire slayer titled 'Once more with Feeling' It is the 6th episode of the 5th season. Basically someone summoned a demon that turns life into a musical. Downside is the energy builds up and occasionally causes people to spontaneously combust so they have to stop it. A google search or going into netflix will let you watch the episode and know more about the reference.

I can't upvote this because your song lyrics are horrid. They lack meter and rhyme. The only thing distinguishing them from dialogue is the halfhearted attempt to make them look like verse.

Have you ever actually written real song lyrics?

3755658 3755653
I'll have to give it a go, thanks!

3755689
Actually no. I can't claim to have truly written song lyrics before with the exception of poetry (Counts? Hard say). I was especially worried about the lyrics. Even after repeatedly asking for help, I received little substantial aid.
It also doesn't help that I wrote this in a single stretch and, to conform with time restraints, went with serviceable lyrics over artistic ones, something I rarely do. I plan on vastly improving them before moving on with any more chapters. I'll certainly take what help I can get.

3756483 I might can at least help with the song lyrics. Not immediately, but probably tomorrow/the next day.

Might want to work on your rhymes for the lyrics, but aside from that, a cute little story based on a hilarious idea.

heheh, I like this. I can picture mlp to be a musical... especially with Dash as the star! Her comment in Rarity Takes to Manehatten killed me. :rainbowlaugh: Say, if you ever need help with lyrics I'd be glad to assist! Just shoot me a PM anytime. :D

I enjoyed reading your story! In fact, I featured it in a blog post of mine. It's not much, but I hope it'll get you a couple of extra views. Keep up the good work! :rainbowwild:

FROM THE LINER NOTES OF "RAINBOW DASH'S GREATEST HITS", RELEASED ON COLUMBIA RECORDS IN 1974:

Out of all Equestrian performers today, Rainbow Dash may well be one of the most celebrated and gifted of them all. Starting from her dreams of being, and ultimately becoming, a member of the iconic group The Wonderbolts Music Division, many people who have praised the Wonderbolts' concerts drew their particular attention to the wonderful voice of Rainbow Dash. This attention caught the ear of the president of Epic Records, who, in 1966, signed her to a deal with that label. From there, she planted a seed that grew into a list of her great hits, such as "Hey Boy (Hey Girl)", "Lucky Love Strike", "Top of the Day", the Bloom-&-Seed-penned compositions "I Love It When You Turn Me On" and "Ice Cream Escapades", "Good Morning Equestria", and several great tunes from the catalogue of Mr. Berry Gordy, including "Two Lovers" and "My Guy". These hits also managed to turn on Clive Davis, who signed her to a contract with the main CBS label, Columbia Records, 3 years after she became successful at achieving her worldwide fame. Her hits just kept coming, as she succeeded in turning songs such as the Beatles' "Lady Madonna", the Rolling Stones' "Let's Spend The Night Together" and "Wild Horses", and others, into seductive, soulful ballads, and turning her concerts and television appearances into sensuous love affairs, winning her many a mare and stallion, and becoming, well, what one writer for Rolling Stone called "The Issac Hayes of Equestrian Pop-Rock."

Is this story dead?

6206058 At the moment I have had trouble getting my mind in gear for this, to be honest. I'm the last one to say that a story 'is dead', but I will be honest that this hasn't been a priority.
Frankly I just need someone to kick me in the rear about this one. Or writing at a good pace in general.

Oh my, THAT was interesting! It was kind of hard to find a tune for them to sing though. Other than that, the story's great!
