Written for Equestria Daily's Writer's Training Grounds #002: "Rarity Takes Manehattan"
(Come and join in on the fun!)

What exactly happened to make Suri Plomare so distrustful of everypony else?

At her very first fashion week, she found herself without any fabric to create her dresses with. Luckily, two tailors step in to offer her some very exclusive fabric which is sure to win. Their names are Flim and Flam.

HAHAHA :rainbowlaugh: Flim Flam, I really like you guys now. Rarity oughta thank you!

Wow, I like the idea of Flim and Flam having some sort of past with Suri. Certainly gives a reason why she became the mare she is in the show. Good job, 'kay!

Nice adaptation of that one legend of that one naked king:moustache:

Except this is set BEFORE Suri became a sociopath, and is meant to be imply to be how she was set down the road of becoming one.

This was incredible. It really does show what Suri meant about 'learning' that Manehatten was ruthless. IMHO, that line said volumes about her character. I don't think she was a bad pony ORIGINALLY. Her speech suggests she BECAME this way.

The idea that she got so wrapped up in what Flim and Flam were telling her to the point where she was near hallucinating, suggests she had some mental problems that being screwed over twice in a row and having things blow up in her face brought to the surface.

This story gives enough detail without dragging on, you keep things going at a proper pace, and the 'lessons' Suri learns.

4259309 Really though? THIS set her off? It didn't take much apparently.

I'm thinking this was what STARTED HER on the road. Once you HAVE a feeling, you'll do ANYTHING to have that feeling be justified. Logic exists only to be USED to justify that feeling.

While Suri is a pony who CAN'T be trusted now, I like the idea that there was good in her once.

I really had to think about your comment, and only by reading did I realize that I did put Suri through a number of halluzinations to the point where she could have possibly lost her mind. It still seems kind of fitting to me, although it makes it considerably darker than the original fairytale it is based on.

Still, I didn't mean to imply Suri had any severe traumata or mental problems that made her. It was more that she was taught a lesson by two conman she didn't know how to interpret right.

I'm glad you liked it and hope you continued to do so after reading this.

Indeed. She had no friends to turn to.

Who'd have thought Suri was so Damn GULLIBLE?

4381408

Or just naive and desperate.

4796430 (Shrugs) Tomato, Tomahto...

The cycle of selfishness.

Why would Rarity thank them? It's because of them that Suri became what she did.

You call that not much?!
