This story is a prequel to Fallout: Equestria - Memories
Inquisitors, agents of the Circle of Steel, uphold the integrity of the Codex. Any Steel Ranger that fails to abide by the Codex or has renounced it will suffer fatal consequences. When words of dissent and treachery reach the ears of Inquisitor Souffle, he departs to silence the renegades that dare oppose the Codex and threaten to destroy what the Steel Rangers stand for.

This is something that I can get behind
So, I finally caught up on the rewrite of Memories and then came to read this.
I like the additional characterization of Souffle, additional story behind the water talisman issues from the start of Memories, and more. The text itself is well done.
No particular criticism of the story itself, but on a more nitpicky level, I should mention that AU tag is already covered under Crossover (though I suppose it applies if this is an AU to the primary FoE universe), and Adventure doesn't seem quite applicable to this piece (debateable). I'm not sure "comedy" applies, as the story has a very serious tone; the presence of some comic relief doesn't make the story a comedy. Additionally, the chapter title has only 1 quotation mark.

The original quote was to have it say 'gray steel' in reference to the different shades of morality, though it was changed in the end. Can't remember why.
So, I wanted to read this before I started memories and man do I hope Souffle gets what's coming to him...
Can't really comment too much on story and characters since it's only a prologue, but I'm definitely interested to see what happens.

I like this guy. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that he's going to end up as a bad guy in the next story. Oh well.
