Is there a deeper reason for why Chrysalis took control of Shining Armor to fulfill her plan? Did something happen when they were young that made Chrysalis's heart turn to stone? Perhaps Chrysalis was not always as mean as she is portrayed; perhaps, once upon a time, she could have felt happiness ... or even love. As both Chrysalis' and Shining Armor's pasts intertwine, emotions arise that could lead to her salvation ... or her descent into darkness.
This story's setting is almost entirely in the past, proposing a connection between Chrysalis and Shining Armor before the events of "A Canterlot Wedding." Alternate Universe tag in case of any unintentional discontinuities. Unsure about Slice of Life tag.

Okay... first of all I'm really glad I finally read this. This is very exciting and I intend to read the rest as it comes out.
Second of all... Oh my Celestia, thank Luna that was all a dream. I was so scared for Chryssie and Trim and so angry at Celestia and her stupid guards for being mean to them. I suppose it is a sign of a good story when you get so attached to the characters. So points and Kudos are for you. four thousand points and two kudos so far. We will renegotiate as the story progresses.
