That probably would have been more clever. I wrote this on the edge of sleep, though, and wasn't really at my best. I originally wrote the line about a lunatic controlling her thoughts as just a touch of metahumor, but then I realized that Discord could actually work as an in-universe reason for bizarre ships.

That was cute, though the portrayal of "southern country bumpkins are massive morons" stereotypes is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Just because someone has a funny accent and lacks social graces doesn't make them a complete waste of flesh unworthy of spending time in the company of people more "refined".

But I know you didn't intend some sort of anti-southerner political statement, it was a cute story and it was very cute at that. Well done.

Frankly, Hayseed didn't have much to work with in the show. The only indications of his intelligence I could see were a lack of attention that caused him to slip out of his harness and not realizing that Jet Set and Upper Crust were not "real nice." Not much to go on, but it didn't paint him in a very good light. He did make the connection between Rarity's hat and her business, though, so that's something.

You are right that I didn't mean any offense to them and that it's just what fit with the story, which was designed to be light and fairly funny. I think I'll pop another disclaimer in the notes, though, as the last thing I want this story to do is offend anyone. Glad to see you thought well of it, even if not all of it suits you.
