LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!

This is the tale of the early life of Silver Spoon: her birth, her struggles with her identity, her discovery of her special talent...and her friendship with Diamond Tiara, whose influence changes her in ways she doesn't even realize.

Sir, I do believe that you have made Silver Spoon an honestly interesting character. Take this mustache :moustache: and a *slow golf clap*.

Really?

Silver Spoon's special talent will appear in Thirty Moons.

Are you sure of that?

What if Aloe and Lotus Bitch encounter Silver and Diamond in ponyverse?

I EXPECT..... A CAT FIGHT!!!!!!!!!

3365277

Are you sure of that?

Uh...seeing as I am the writer...yes.

Wow. That was great.

Here's to hoping Spoon (with help from her BFF and maybe AB) shows her racist parents just who the tarnished one truly is ;)

I've always had a soft spot for her. It'll probably never happen, but I'd love to see an episode about her.
Though it probably wouldn't be as interesting as this... :ajsmug:

I love this rp and hope that there is more of it.

You're my new best friend. NOW

"I thought so," the new filly said importantly. "I've seen you two in my daddy's shop. Sterling Silver is a very important pony, which makes you a very important pony. And very important ponies don't associate with loser farm trash like that Apple Bloom." She tilted her head and ran a hoof through her mane. "I'm Diamond Tiara, by the way. Diamond Dazzle Tiara."

Let's just say that this DID happen in the show. Silver, being almost as shy as fluttershy, could just ignore Diamond and go talk to the others, and not listen to her crap about 'losers' and 'upper-class' ponies...

Diamond Tiara smiled a smile that, for some reason, gave Silver Spoon a chill. "You're my new best friend," she said in a tone that made it sound like a command.
"Um...okay..."

Yep, definatly Fluttershy!

She paused, studying her reflection in the mirror, and shook her head. "Is that really how important ponies are supposed to sound? Do you have to be mean to be important?"

NU! Look at Celestia!

"Hey, Sil!" Sterling Silver called as Silver Spoon

So much 'silver' here I can't tell who's who...

Silver Spoon rolled her eyes, which ached from the eye exam. "What-ever, Mother."

:facehoof:

Out of the corner of her eye, Silver Spoon could just see the cross look Apple Bloom shot her at that remark. She felt a twinge of guilt.

Then do something

"Like, check out that lame-o Derpy!"
"I know, right? Mother says she's the worst, most useless pegasus she's ever flown with!"

HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE DERP!!!

As the two fillies trotted into the schoolhouse, neither noticed the grey pegasus perched on the roof of the schoolhouse, who took wing, silent tears streaming from her eyes.
*My little Silly-filly...why didn't I see it sooner? You've tarnished...*

I feel so bad for you Silver Lining...

I've generally been of the opinion that antagonistic characters have more to offer in terms of narrative than loveable, relatable, predictable good guys, as no one is just born with a penchant for harming others in some way. We all know NightMare Moon's descent into madness, (or at least the jist of it) Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra, and the rest most likely have reasons for acting as they do too. It almost seems like common sense, I guess, but those that behave badly usually had something go bad at some point that reshaped their personalities into something unkind, even if very slowly. Those we're supposed to identify with usually have simple, perhaps even uninteresting backgrounds, bad guys are the ones with stories to tell. Some are a result of their weak moral conviction giving way to hurting others for their own perceived benefit, some are tragic victims of chance, like getting so swept up in notions of being 'cool' (Peer pressure, I mean, perhaps Silver and Gilda have something in common?) that they forget the feelings of others until they've isolated themselves from every friend they've ever made, working their hardest to be great only to have someone else rise far above them and end up a boastful fraud on the road, (that one's speculation, but makes enough sense, right? :trixieshiftright:) or in this case, a combination of feelings of inadequacy (Silver Spoon's line "I love being special" popped up in my head in the saddest way while reading this story.) mixed with meeting an already self-important little brat on their first day of school and not knowing what laid in store from there. I'm sure even Diamond acts the way she does for a reason, maybe just 'listening and learning' from her father's guests?

Short version: Bad guys are interesting, I like story, :yay:yaaay.

That was beautiful and tragic:duck::raritydespair:

Following Silver's life really opened my eyes to many facets of a character I already loved with all my heart.

and LOL Diamond was a creepy little bitch at 4! I mean wasn't she ever just a cute and sweet little filly?:facehoof:

This is disturbingly plausible (oh Diamond, you will be Equestria's greatest villain). My favourite bit, I have to admit, is that one little aside where Silver Spoon notices that Filthy Rich doesn't have 'important' body language and talk until he's talking to the Very Important Ponies.

This makes me hate Diamond Tiara even more. UGH! WHY DIAMOND WHY!:raritydespair:

Diamond Tiara smiled a smile that, for some reason, gave Silver Spoon a chill. "You're my new best friend," she said in a tone that made it sound like a command.
"Um...okay..."

Well done, I clearly see no reason here to over-complicate what could have very well being attributed to simple first contact.:moustache:

3773332 Obviously because she has developed a superiority complex, probably due to the way she was raised, and she has an egocentric personality that she hasn't out grown yet.

I like it, this was just what I needed a quick simple tale that kept me hooked and engaged from start to finish. :rainbowdetermined2:

Kudos,

~Leonzilla

4090790 Yeah, Diamond Tiara seems to me like the type that just orders people to be her friend.

Glad you enjoyed!

Well, I like it.

I've always thought that Silver Spoon was actually a good filly, I just knew it!

5055223 Agreed. I always felt like all the villains were nice at some point, but something turned them to the dark side. But my thoughts had always wandered off when somepony said Silver Spoon. I didn't know how to think she ever became a 'villain'. I thought the fact that it was Diamond Tiara was just too obvious, and there had to be something else behind it as well. Now reading this, I think I have a pretty good headcanon of my own of why Silver Spoon turned mean. But still, I would really love it if this chapter was expanded, being quite interesting.:derpytongue2::derpytongue2:

Blue_Valentine

It's funny because Lucky Clover is an actual background pony...but he's a stallion. :P

Awesome story. I just might use some of the ideas regarding earth ponies that were used in this. Perhaps a one-shot where my character loses his horn or something? I dunno. :derpytongue2:

Okay then... That actually makes sense for SS's family, although, I think that her mom died giving birth or soon after, because if SS's mom was around, then maybe SS would be guided the other way, to better friends

So I'm at Phase VIII of Thirty Moons and took the advice to read this first.

The beginning was SO CUTE! I loved seeing Teeny Silver and her Mama interacting!

When I got to the part where Silver goes to school for the first time, a part of me was like "you're gonna end up really sad at the end of this story".

I got the the end. :fluttercry: And...it...it... :raritycry: POOR SILVER LINING! She just wanted her daughter to grow up to be a nice, happy mare! :raritydespair: Then that stupid Diamond Tiara got in the way and she made the analogy to tarnished silver and...and... :raritycry: I'm sobbing on the insiiiiiiiiide!!
