Was slightly cleaner of a break than I expected earlier in the story, but it was still quite satisfying and didn't feel 'too' clean as to not be in the realm of realistic possibility, at least to me. Seems Shining already was gravitating that way, regardless.
Anyways, awesome work getting through the major drama-esque part of the story. I look forward to the later fluff chapters and what I hope for the sweet moments to come.

That was REALLY good, well done.

If I have a complaint it's that you ended in the same way so many love stories do, the moment they say 'I love you'. And get together.
I really what to see what happens AFTER the confession, I always thought that will be the best part of the story.

But still, overall, I'd give this story a 9.7 out of 10. It was really that good. I loved how well written the letter was, it must have been a b**** to write, but it was perfect.

Hope to see a sequel, or at least several short stories.

Ever since I saw this on the featured box, this has been right up there in my top 3 fics and I'm ssd to see it end. Good luck in future work.

Well... that was a let down....sorry but i think that this chapter was bad

Why does this leaves such a bad taste in my mouth?....I don't know. It is like I fell really bad for Shinning forgiving that fast, like He should be doing two or three things:

1) Start crying his eyes out and look for someone to confort him, someone close to him.

OR

2) Lost his shit and start breaking everything. Blow some steam off.

3) Commit suicide or something really dark.

It feels like it was soooooo easy, even if Ares and Cadance have to tell everyone about it, I believe they will not be very harsh about it, maibe Twilight?, maibe not.

This ending looks so....unreal to me. Looks like there is something missing, something empty

This was a really amazing story. It's by far one of my favorites of all time and I'm sad to see it end, although I do have some complaints about the ending.
I feel that Shining Armor took the news that his wife is leaving him too well; He just sort of accepted it and moved on right away. There was no grieving, no anger, nothing, just acceptance.
Also there are so many unanswered questions.
Will Ares ever get home
How will their relationship work
Will Luna ever get a harem of human male body-builders
Also the ending was a little cliche with it ending with the mutual "I love you" confession, I want to see an epilogue with some closure. Ares introducing Cadence to his parents, Ares returning as a prince in the Crystal Empire and declaring that everyone will sleep together in a giant cuddle pile, Luna and Celestia visiting a strip club on earth for ladies night.

I just feel rather unsatisfied with this ending, it has no real closure and leaves you feeling like there's a piece missing. It's like eating a delicious Donut only to find out that the baker forgot to add the jelly filling.

I really hope the extra chapters have some more meat to add to the ending. If not then I think a sequel is in order.

Lots of little one letter mistakes making words the wrong word in this chapter. It was fairly good. Sad its over as this is one of the few fics I read that updates regularly. Not to mention the three other fics that ended recently for me. Ugh what do I even read now?!

You know... I came into this story expecting a clopfic. All the way through to the end? No explicit sex! It looks like the story took a life of its own as you wrote it, and honestly? I'm glad it did. You turned what I was expecting to be a quick and dirty story into a superbly done romance. I look forward to more from you, sir!

It took me too much time for read the dammed letter because it was difficult to deal with the feelings and thinking how shinig was going to react but everything turned okay. BEST ROMANCE AND DRAMA EVER!!!!!

I'll be honest -- I'm incredibly disappointed and saddened because this story failed to live up to its potential. This should have had another five chapters, at the very least.

It was all build-up, little-to-no climax, and there's little resolution to many plots. The end result is that it basically kills the reader's immersion and suspension of disbelief stone cold dead.

Knocking out side-stories to resolve main-story plots/sub-plots is also never a good idea.

I've been enjoying this story for quite awhile, but this ending feels like a let-down.

Shining's arc feels like it resolves too quickly, too easily. I kind of figured it would be something like that after he left, but this reaction after reading the letter, to simply have his wife, that he loves so much it's able to fuel a city-wide love bomb, just wish him the best in the future ... it's just too clean of a reaction to have him just go, "Oh well, I forgive you." and move on. There's no raw emotion in it, and so it falls flat. It doesn't need to be hatred, or suicidal depression, but even resigned despondency would feel more authentic than open acceptance for no perceivable reason. Shining needs to grieve, in some capacity, and to have him move straight to acceptance feels unnatural.

Ares and Cadance's plot feels like it should have had more impact as well. They've both been torturing themselves for weeks and finally have things come to a head, but for all of this build-up for so many chapters, it ends in a quick drunken freak-out followed by a quick confession—though the banter was cute during that—and them just cuddling up like it's any other normal night. After so much time building to this, I feel like I've been left hanging as a reader. This should be so much more of an intense moment, but it fails to deliver.

I'll also say that it's a bit of a letdown to have a "Mature - Sex" rated story not actually include any sex, except for in a non-canon side story—which probably should have just been its own little one-shot. When I first started this story I expected, from the rating and the description, to see it deal with how sex—or the lack of it—affects a relationship. How loving sex can deepen it and how it can sometimes even drive a couple further apart when they're looking for something different from it. Certainly this last is more a failing of my own assumptions than necessarily of the story, but it adds to the feeling that this story just could have been so much greater.

I don't like being overly critical, although I always manage to do it in a critique. I wouldn't presuppose that you should re-write the ending, it's your story not mine, and I have no place to try to put that requirement upon you, but I will say that this doesn't feel like the ending this story deserves.

That went well. To damn well.

This ending felt rushed, way rushed, like there was at least a heck of a lot more that should have happened on Shining's end. A guy after that much experience just doesn't 'get over' someone who has been that close to them for so long through one simple letter. Plus there's the many other dangling plot threads left hanging.

And honestly? I kinda think the whole relationship between Ares and Cadence reeks of emotional problems down the line.

However aside from the abrupt ending here. I liked your fic. Sure there were small cases of OOC-ness, but honestly charter interpretation is different for everyone. I did like the pacing and the humor to this is what really drew me in. All in all, Liked the journey, just not the destination.

Well a lot of people have already said what I thought about the ending, so I wont parrot them.

One thing that no one mentioned though - and maybe it's because I missed it - is that Ares' mental issues with cold just kinda disappeared. I remember the small part where they commented on the room being cold and how the psychologist was helping, but that was after a long while of not hearing anything. So correct me if I'm wrong, but it feels like that was left unresolved as well as what the others have mentioned. (And also on that note, he never really gets over his fear of sleeping alone either? Because throughout the whole fic he has someone. It just would have been interesting to see some progress on that front.)

Other than all that, I did like the story, and I hope to see a continuation or something later on!

It's been a heck of a journey, and I thank you for that. I gotta agree with everyone though, the whole resolution fell flat. Nonetheless this gets a fave from me, and I do hope to see some expansion on this story from you.

This has been one hell of a ride, and I am happy to see this story end with a good ending. My only wish is that we got to see a bit more development in the Twilight X Flash Sentry relationship, other than that, no complaints. I look forwards the sequel, and I can only guess as to what it may entail. Keep your powder dry.
