While experimenting, Twilight's new teleportation spell goes awry, sending her careening into a different world, just in time to take part in a fantastic ritual called Heaven's Feel. Twilight must adapt to the world of humans and take part in the vicious conflict that is the 4th Holy Grail War as a Servant alongside her equally reluctant Master. The duo must contend with powerful adversaries and survive the subtle machinations of the Magi determined to win the Grail at any cost. Can Twilight overcome her unwillingness to take the lives of others? More importantly, should she? And is there any way for the displaced Unicorn to return home? Trapped, alone and in a different world and surrounded by enemies on all sides, does the Magic of Friendship still hold any hope for Twilight?

A crossover with Fate/Zero.

This is ...interesting. On one hand it is quite bit better then the other Fate crossover here Fimfiction. The writing is fairly solid and you managed to get Twilight and the story itself looks like it could be fairly interesting. However there are some issues such as the fact that Twilight being summoned like that makes absolutely no sense. The Grail basically works by summoning humanish spirits from the Throne of Heroes with Arturia being something of a major exception do to a mixture of her legend and the deal that she made with world as she was dying.

Summoning Twilight both from a entirely different worldline while she is still alive ...really isn't something that the grail can do. It might work better if she ended up there by a different accident, perhaps her copying Arturia in making a deal with the world while near death, Zelretch or something else going wrong with the spell and her ending up over in Fuyuki as a master in Ryunosuke's place?

Also there's the issue of the fact that the Grail basically provides the equivalent of a 'information packet' explaining both the war itself as well as a layman's amount cultural and technical knowledge of the modern world. The last problem is that as much as I really love Twilight, she's most likely to get brutally killed as a Servant. Both do to the magic resistance of several of the other Servants and simple fact that any of them could blitzkrieg through speed alone.

....Her lack of Noble Phantasm unless she could somehow somehow summon the element of magic (and that counts as one) would also heavily screw her over along with the fact that there's no way she would ever serve Ryunosuke or use the means by which either Caster used to gather prana which means that she'd quickly die as well.

Not trying to dissuade or insult you as I do wish to see the more of this crossover. Just that there are a few plotholes in it that need fixing.

Both http://typemoon.wikia.com and http://tatari.byethost33.com/fuyuki/index.htm are good sites for finding out more about Nasuverse, there's the Fate/Zero light novels if you didn't know about them, and spacebattles forums have a good number type-moon fans who probably would be willing to help you out too if you needed it.

Actually, I have indeed put a lot of thought into the issues that you brought up and am addressing them in one form or another. So yes, while I am straining things a bit, I still intend to play mostly by hard and fast Nasuverse rules. In fact, one of the issues you brought up is a major driving force of the conflict. I'm glad you picked up on that so quickly.

tracked. interesting premise... :twilightoops:

Enjoyable. and also, PINKIE PIE LUCK IS ALWAYS RANK E.:pinkiecrazy:

311077

I had just finished editing and posting this story and went on to watch this week's episode. I couldn't imagine a scene that proves my point better than when Twilight is getting her fortune told by Pinkie and they bring up her Pinkie Sense just in time for it to go off to signal a flowerpot falling on Twilight's head out of nowhere. The only thing I could think at the time was HA! PROOF!. :pinkiehappy:

309928

I'll admit that I was a little bit worried while going into this chapter but this has more then exceeded my expeditions. Aaron is so very much a Nasu!Magi and Twilight was very much herself in this chapter, though I doubt that she's really comprehended the nastiness of her situation just yet. Of course once she gets her bearings I suspect she'll do her best to pick Aaron's brain when it comes to thaumaturgy.

I do have to feel somewhat sorry for Aaron when it comes to Twilight's upkeep given that those stats and her own nature means that she's most likely guzzling down a good chunk of his prana, and unless he's dumb enough to use a command seal to force her to use to use the usual method to gather prana, that probably is going to be much fun for him especially once she starts fighting much less if she has a reason to go into her avatar state. Though her tendency to fight smart will probably really help a lot with that.

Is her nature going to have any effect on her ability to use her magic and amount of prana needed to recharge her magic?

Not sure if you're planing having either of them start to learn the other's magecraft but you do realize that if Equestrian magic is something that humans can lean, that Twilight has potentially become as valuable as the Grail itself... :pinkiegasp:

The luck stat seems a bit low to me given the usual amount of luck that Twilight seems to have but on the other hand given how just how high even a E ranked stat is compared to a normal person that might just be me being somewhat nitpicky. Given her mana rank, she is really reminding me somewhat of Extra!Caster by the end of the game in capabilities. And ye gods A++, that by itself would give her a good chance of holding her but also being one of the final contestants. But add in the fact that Twilight tends to fight smart and the complete OoC of her magic, and she's going to be a massive spanner in the works.

Though this means that Gilgamesh just might take her fairly seriously compared to how he usually acts.:twilightoops:

It'll also be very interesting to see how the other Servants and Masters react to the complete alienness of her magic much less their expressions to her casual use of teleporting.:trollestia:

Any chance of seeing her at the equivalent of the Kings Banquet? It'd be interesting to see how she might interact with the other servants along with the faces of the masters if they learned a bit of her past filtered through the usual Nasu!mindset. Also any chance of Twilight using transformation spells in order to wander around Fuyuki like a certain other servant? And any chance of seeing Twilight's Class and Personal skills?

But anyway great job on combining things together like you have! :pinkiehappy:

So yes, while I am straining things a bit, I still intend to play mostly by hard and fast Nasuverse rules.

No problem with this. I was a bit worried that you might just be using the animes for all the source material ...which tends not work out well given the crappyness of the first one and the amount of things that they never bothered to explain in it.

I'm glad I could clear up some of your concerns with this chapter. However, you apparently missed the part where Aaron talked about Twilight's prana consumption, namely that she doesn't consume any of his prana. That's because the reason a master needs to support his Servant with prana is because the Servant is a phantasm, a body constructed out of prana that needs to be supplied in order to avoid being erased by the rules of the world. However, Twilight is not a spiritual entity and her body is not constructed out of prana, which is why she doesn't need Aaron's prana to remain in the world, as well as why her fate is up in the air should their contract be broken. Also, not having a spiritual body has...other ramifications, and I bet you can guess what those are. :twilightoops:

As to some of your other questions, particularly about those pertaining to how Twilight's magic compares to human thaumaturgy and it's alien nature...well, let's say that I only laid out her basic stats in this chapter for a reason. I intend to detail her class abilities and personal abilities in later chapters and I think that those will answer your questions quite nicely. Given your questions, I get the feeling you're really going to like some of the future developments I have in mind. :moustache:

I did miss that; I was viewing her to be mostly like Arturia... Twilight really is a massive list oddities in this. Though this might mean that Zouken might get interested enough to involve himself.

I'm starting to wonder if somebody from Nasuverse isn't trying to hack the grail given the strangeness of her situation.

Also, not having a spiritual body has...other ramifications, and I bet you can guess what those are. :twilightoops:

At least some...

Thou truly art a evil wretch ...and now I can't wait to see the next chapter.

Okay, I just ended up doing a pretty fair-sized edit to this chapter because of a miscalculation on my part. I had to double-check the novels, but I realized that there were the better part of two whole days between Caster's summoning and Assassin's death. Because of that, I had to work that extra time into the chapter. It's not a huge deal because it doesn't change a whole lot of what you already read, but I felt it was an important enough problem to fix. Sorry for the goof. :derpytongue2:

Very enjoyable chapter. On the matter of NP will Twilight be able to access the entirety of the Elements or will it just be hers; and if so what will the Element of Magic do? I imagine if the Elements are her NP it will either be her using all of them or summoning the rest of the Mane 6 to actually cast it. I'm personally hoping for the later. Another thing, if the Elements are her NP would they be A rank or EX rank? They are at least 1000 years old and can 1-shot gods. They also seem to be single target so maybe a anti-unit anti-divine NP? I think that they would be at least A++ if not higher. I have high hopes for this story and I can't wait to see more.

Wow I was watching Fate/Zero earlier today with another brony friend when I started putting each of the mane 6 into the servant classes. I'm still in the early planning stages of a Fate storyline set in Equestria.

Here's to hoping Caster's Master in this fic doesn't get his head blown off by the discharge of a WA2000

Aaron's origin = watching/observation? :unsuresweetie:
Can't wait to see how this plays out. I really admire your painstaking dedication to keeping in Nausuverse canon.

One question: After the story ends are you going to make a sequel following the Fate/Stay Night storyline?

339249
I don't have any plans for one, so all I can say is probably not.

339256
Too bad. It would've been interesting to have Twilight participate again only to serve the protagonist.

This is getting increasingly interesting, and I am definitely looking forward to twilights Entry into the battlefield... Whether she really wants too or not!

I look forward to the others reactions to Twilight. This is getting interesting :pinkiehappy:

interesting. so unless the MLP franchise exists in the Fate/Zero universe, Twilight has an added advantage of no one totally knowing anything about her and what she can do. can't wait for the next chapter... :twilightsheepish:

Impressive work once more. I always felt that the Fate/Zero anime did a great job with this set of episodes and I look forward to seeing how you can add to it.

339648

This is the Heaven's Feel after the one taking place around the time of World War something, with an interval of sixty years between events. So MLP may exist, but not MLP: FiM.

341415

doesn't Fate/Zero happen ten years before Fate/Stay Night? anyway, you're right though, i guess even if the MLP franchise does exist, it wouldn't be FiM unless the author has planned it otherwise... :derpyderp1:

341428

Yes, there seems to be an inconsisancy there. It may be the translation of Fate/Zero I read was wrong (not the official one), However somethings metioned about plans for the next Heaven's Feel by various parties in Fate/Zero do seem to indicate a larger time frame than ten years. And the tech levels indicates more than a decade since the round preceeding Fate/Zero.

341428
341643
According to the timeline I dug up, which can be found here: http://tatari.byethost33.com/fuyuki/timeline.htm, Heaven's Feel 4 takes place in 1994, with HF 5 taking place in 2004. So yes, the timeframe is just about exactly ten years. Most (if not all) of the parties who participated (and survived) the fourth one weren't expecting the fifth war to come along so soon, which it did because of the unique circumstances that the forth one ended under. Unfortunately, that means that there is no FiM in the Nasuverse right now. And even if there was, no one would know because magi generally avoid technological mediums like television on principle. That said, just ask yourself one question...:rainbowhuh:

"What if Emiya Kiritsugu...was a brony?". :trollestia:

344763
i would say he would empathize with Princess Luna... (we need Luna emoticons :rainbowhuh:)

344763

Yes, but if FiM existed it would make Twilight being summoned make more sense (though it is not needed).

And it seems that there was mention of Magic Resistance being a stat in the unofficial translation (Alexander's being about D level), but you have not listed it for Twilight. But then I suppose it does not matter as much for her.

Fun thought: Ionian Hetairoi VS Want-It-Need-It Spell (possibly used upon multiple objects).

EDIT:

Ah, after looking somethings up I see that magic resistance is an ability (though most servants in this grail war had it to some extent) rather than a stat.

"In all likelihood, all of the Masters and Servants. Had not yet even assembled in the. City."

I think those were suppose to be one scentence. Also it seems later in the paragraph that you used 'need' instead of 'ended'.

"For the second time that day, Twilight found herself fighting the urge to throw up."

Seems to be an artifact from before editing in some extra time before the the opening of the war.

350715

Thanks for pointing those out. You're right on the money with the second one. As for the first...typing this out on an iPad has its drawbacks. :twilightoops:

Reviewing discriptions, it seems like Aaron maybe in the same hotel as Saber's (real) Master. On the same floor for that matter. :facehoof: Twilight may want to Teleport them back after they finish observing so they can move out if that is the case.

Also:

As they stopped at an intersection and waited for a light, Twilit took a moment to concentrate, grateful that the invisibility spell hid the telltale flickers. Of light given off by her horn.

384101
Damn it! I love my iPad, but it's moments like this that make me hate it sometimes. And I swear I checked that chapter over half a dozen times. :facehoof:

As for your other comment...no. Aaron and Twilight aren't that unlucky. Although Aaron is already well aware of the risks of remaining in the hotel, so he's been making plans to bail. :twilightoops:

384502

It is only unlucky if they get found. (The closer to danger, the farther from harm and all that; even the mage slayer believes in that and used it to select the new base after they moved out of the castle) Otherwise it might actually help keep them from being found in the short term as it might not be watched as closely.

Wanna know what would be interesting? Put in another "anomaly", one unused to battle, so Twilight can have some sort of internal conflict beyond her normal ethical problems. Can you do that, or is the storyline fixed?

429898
Well, not an anomaly, but I do have something like that in mind.

The story is getting more interesting by each update look forward to Twilight on the battlefield. However, I don't think the others would take her seriously but that's just me.

Looking forward to the next update.

MOAR! CHUNG IS UNSATISFIED

Once again excellent. I am most pleased to see this update. A few minor spelling mistakes but nothing more. A quick note, A++ rank is the equivalent of divine mysteries and EX is simply beyond classification and higher level than the gods.

Actually, from what I have read depending upon the mechanics of the teleport spell it could be a feat of True Magic and not just high thaumaturgy.

Unless you plan on a follow up, I do not really see any reason to strictly adhere to the ending of Fate/Zero. But whatever.

EDIT: Also there is a mis-match on the ranking of Enhanced Intellect between Twilight's stats and the discription.

Thanks for your input. You guys are a big help. Twelve-thousand words is a lot of ground to police. I go over every chapter several times and I swear I find something wrong every time. Oh well.

457839 Thanks for pointing that out. I thought about being lazy and simply hand waving it as the difference between Equestrian and human magecraft. But I think you're right and the rankings (to say nothing of what's going to happen later on in the story) make much more sense this way.

457929 Thanks for pointing out the discrepancy. It is now fixed. As for teleportation, I recalled Caster from FSN using something similar, so I went with the basis is that it is magecraft, but on a level that is impossible for modern human magi, which makes it seem like Magic. :pinkiehappy:

458984

For comparison, the High Speed Divine Words of the fifth war's Caster was an A rank ability.

As I said it depends upon how it is done, so decide if the method is something that is otherwise possible like moving really fast such that travel seems instantainious. After all I would think Aaron will be asking about it at some point, so having an idea about how it works would then be important.

Twilight having reached magician status with only the study she has done and no Mage Crest would really mess with the minds of the magi of this world who consider such things to be very important. :pinkiecrazy:

Well, if you're going to use the Fate ranking system you should probably just stick with how it already is instead of redefining the ranking system. A good way to put it into perspective is that True Magic is at least EX rank. Ea's full power is supposed to be able to destroy planets and thus should allow it introduce the concept of death to things like Type-Mercury or Type-Moon. Since we know Zelretch used Kaleidoscope to kill Brunestud we can assume that EX would be things like total planet kills or absolute control of celestial bodies. Nonetheless, EX does not guarantee power. Rank is usually a measure of sophistication. Iskander's Reality Marble is EX partially because it is a reality marble and partially because it is maintained by both him and his army. It is the combination of the wills of an army of servants all brought under Iskander. Excalibur is considered the pinnacle of Swords belonging to Gaea and it is only A++.

459271

I'm still fine-tuning the exact mechanics of how Twilight's magecraft. The fact that her teleportation is limited by physical distance is an indicator of it being mere magecraft rather than Magic. That said, Twilight already has set hoof into the domain of Magic with her efforts in the prologue. Let's just say that when he finds out what happened, Tokiomi (and yes, I mean Tokiomi) is going to flip. :pinkiecrazy:

459346
Awesome, Tokiomi losing his shit? Epic. To be honest, Twilight being in the domain of Sorcery isn't all that far fetched considering she is the Element of Magic. Elements of Harmony gotta be at least EX rank.

Nice job, I can't wait to see more of this. :pinkiehappy:

Quick thought, by the way...anyone else feel that Waver Velvet would be the perfect name for a pony? :rainbowderp:

461386

Yes, or at least much better than most human names.

Here is a though: what is Pinkie Pie's Luck rating? Alexander's is A+. He might also have the effect of making her's drop, though maybe not as much.

461603 I haven't decided yet about Pinkie's luck rating. But I do plan on doing stats on all the Mane Cast in future chapters as a sort of omake. But don't take them too seriously.

Looking forward to the next update, and I'm beginning to wonder something.

How would Twilight react if she finds out just why Berserker's master is fighting, and afterwards, would she insist on trying to make an alliance with Kariya on general principle?

466083
Depending on what time it happened would Kariya even agree?

And great job on this chapter moguera; with my complaint being is on the need to keep things happening as they did in canon.

329752 I have no idea what to think of that.

The story is promising though.
