The description is a quite cheap but i've read the story a few months ago, it is one of my top favorite stories.
Spitfire is best.

actually its pretty good a little nice friendly competition eh.:ajsmug:

This story is one of my all time faves. Great to see it here too.

This was the very first MLP fanfic I ever read, back when it was posted on EQD. Untold hours of my life, lost thanks to the addiction this story started.

Glad to see it here, and give it my thumbs up. The characterization of Dash and Spitfire is excellent, and the story is great.

God, I'm so sad that this story only has four comments. It also has some of the most fantastic on-the-move writing I have ever read. Makes me feel like anything I attempt on my part feel somewhat hackneyed, by comparison.

Spitfire is best pony. 'nuff said.

This is quite good so far. Deserves more views. I found it by computing a ratings score for all the authors on fim-fiction that is (thumbs-up - (10.5*thumbs-down + 1) / story views (computed so the average score is zero). Your score is 0.152, which is number 11 out of 5443 authors.

My rating method isn't perfect, because risky fiction (e.g., Device Heretic's "So be it") scores poorly on it. But it's good for finding canon-like ponyfiction.

Can't believe the low view count on this story... this is one of those fics that would make for an amazing episode. Heck, it even fits pretty well into the scope of the show. Does TitanRising even check this site?

Glorious story. Not sure why it doesn't have way more views.

This was pretty damn good. Made for a good 2 or so hours well spent reading it :) Loved spitfire at the end there XD

Flawlessly written good fun. 'Nuff said.

There definitely need to be more adventure stories like this one.

Soarin' likes to crash-land in there all the time... Great Luna, that's so like him.

really well written, loved it, this should be featured.
good twists at the end with ditzy and soarin. might be the first fix I've read with a dash spitfire focus with no shipping, cheers. Great action scenes from start to end.

Thanks for sharing this story. I cannot find much that I like in the fandom, but this story gives me some of what drew me to the show itself - namely an exciting story with a happy though not smarmy ending, sympathetic characters, and a wondrous sense of fantasy - other people tend to forget Equestria is a fairy tale world, not contemporary America populated by pastel ponies. Good work!

Congrats.

Wow,
magnifique

I can see why this fic had such a high rating o EqD. The attention to detail is staggering, so good images start forming unbidden and effortlessly as I read the fic :twilightsheepish:

I loved the way you characterized Spitfire, and the morals of the story weaved in so beautifully. This story has warmed my heart.

Oh man...I haven't had this feeling after reading a story in AGES!

It was absolutely beautiful! Epic! Breath-taking! Nostalgic! Everything else! I feel like crying!

I also just love how you leave some of it out there for the readers to think and imagine, especially the ending dialogue of Soarin' and Spitfire.

You are legendary, I totally wish more people witnessed your awesomeness.

And thank you for the story...you have no idea.

Anyone who downvotes this will die a horrible and painful death.

That was awesome!

This was an interesting read. I did like it, and I'll mention some of the best parts in a moment, but... I don't know, the language was a little strange at times. There was an example early on -- "a girly groan of exertion" -- that just felt odd. So, even more so, did "sky pony". That seemed almost as though you were deliberately writing for a slightly lower reading level than your own. Also, on another note: a 10,000-foot-high spire seems a little... excessive, even for you-know-who!

Anyway, good stuff now: it's always a pleasure to see Spitfire, and I rather liked her characterisation here -- more than the "drill sergeant" model we get on the show now, frankly. The light subplot about the goggles was excellent. The Pinebone Forest was a nice creation, and I wouldn't mind reading more about that. I also enjoyed Ditzy's cameo and the scenes with Scootaloo -- plus, of course, the pillows!

Overall? My honest feeling is that I enjoyed it (I like straight adventure fics) and, unlike some reviewers, I didn't mind the slightly wordy exposition at times (I love things like the explanation about pegasus strength and humidity). It just didn't quite grab me quite as much as I hoped it might have done, which I suspect may be down to the "reading level" thing I mentioned above.

Oh, my. Rainbow's a bit touchy isn't she?
Hey, this is pretty good so far! Lots of adjectives, perhaps a few too many qualifiers, but the descriptions are vivid in my head.
Easy to tell this is pre-season three though, given how Rainbow lashes out at Scoots here...

Next chapter!

Oooh, I love Spitfire's depiction here. It's so like her before we even really knew her.
Also this really feels like it could be an episode. Great so far!

Ooo, the excitement builds! So much action. Spitfire's characterisation is brilliant. Love how she isn't pulling any punches, but at the same time it doesn't particularly feel like she actually wants to win.
This whole chapter reminds me of the Mos Eisley race in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, where you have to fly through narrow canyons at breakneck speed without flying over the top of them. There were multiple paths in that one too, with some routes being faster than others.

Bring on the second barrier!

They were like riding Scootaloo’s scooter, whereas this was like trying to rope a wild dragon.

An apt comparison.

Holy shit, that was intense. And that evil cliffhanger!

“Did I forget to mention that? Silly me. But it made for a great race, didn’t it?”

Oh, you.

“Like I said; it’s hard having to be the best all the time. Sometimes letting another have the victory can be a win for you, too. Haven’t you ever helped someone just because they needed it?”

This is a fantastic moral, and something that needs to be shown in the show.

This was a top quality story, and I am so glad that I read it. Great morals, great descriptions, very few instances of grammar derps barely worth pointing out, and an amusing section with Luna's letter. I thoroughly enjoyed this. :pinkiehappy:

This, all of this.

Its a shame that this is your only fic you have a lot of potential

This story holds a special place in my heart as the first ponyfic I ever read (back when it was on Google Docs), and is still one of my favorites.

Very well done! This deserves far more views than it's getting. Of course Spitfire's depiction has slightly changed from back where this was written, but in light of that this has been a very enjoyable and accurate story, close to how the characters were depicted in the show back then.

The writing style is great and better than most of the fics you'd find on a site such as this. The idea that Spitfire might be able to break the sound barrier too (which seems to be widely accepted as not possible, for whatever reason) was great too, I was really waiting for that to happen.

All in all I can say, while Spitfire was the one character that got me to reading this, it's one of the best Spitfire AND Rainbow Dash fics I've read so far. And I've read a lot. Let's leave it at that.

I like the concept. A lot. But spitfire pulling off some soundbarrier-breaking stunt just to impress rainbow seems rather off--- sure she'd let her win but the fact that spits worked so hard just to show off irks me, she's more than that:flutterrage:, as an offscreen character she'd have more depth or socalled insight. Other than that and a few unnecessarily delicate details, its pretty good.

Oh right, the ending's brilliant. It's anything but constructive and leaves soarin and spitfire's relationship upto us reader's imagination, I like that.

Lovely story. I am reading through the Pony Fiction Vault and this is one of the gems.
