Twilight Sparkle gets into a conversation with Discord, which leads into Discord explaining the formation of the current universe, his own existence, as well as Twilight's new 'true' responsibilities. But some of these things she finds she didn't want to know.
*update* Twilight, finding herself the Spirit of Magic, decides to investigate and get to know the other Spirits, from Triumph, the weakened Spirit of Victory and War, to Harmony, the triplet Spirits of Friendship, to Windigo, the cold spirit of hatred. She also finds herself in a position where she knows more about the universe than Celestia or Luna, and has to decide whether or not to share Discord's knowledge with her mentor and her sister.

The call me... Edward Sparkle! Ha Ha Ha. Such an insightful story. Read it a little too fast, but enjoyed it thoroughly. Quite an interesting take on Discord being the 'first' spirit, but it ties in with evolution or creation theory (choose your poison). Quick question though: Does a multi-verse come into play at some point? Then what if the roles were changed that Elements of Disharmony countered Elements of Harmony? There are multiple stories likewise, but it would interesting to note your "world" as the basis. Thanks again. Enjoy your future endeavors and I'll be looking for your writings!

3128581 I've been thinking about making a sequel, or do you think I should just add more chapters to this? It would explore how much Celestia and Luna remember, maybe get to know a few of the other Spirits, maybe show how much Cadence understands of it. I don't know yet...

1. Celestia & Luna's belief in stopping Discord, although they knew in part it was for the better for him to reign free.
2. Like you said, bring alive the different spirits. Especially the core Elements of Harmony.
3. I'd still like to see what Twilight would make of the hole situation, starting a debate with Discord.
4. What lead Triumph to change sides, other than making sense. Surely it must have had a emotional struggle.
5. The extent of Chaos brought about in each cycle. Was there any prices to pay? That would tie in with Nr. 1.
6. Every spirit embodies Magic in some extent, would Twilight be the next "Discord Demi-God" by having everything's power?
7. Last but a bit unsure, Magic is chaos given form. What would be the total opposite? Alchemy Order? Well just a side idea that if the extreme was existing then what would counter it? Luna and Celestia would be totally outmatched.
Yeah that's my best proposals but if ranked in importance it would be: 3; 2; 6; 4; 5; 1; 7.
You could choose between "What if ... Nr. 5" Chapters or direct sequels. This would leave your core story intact and if other readers wish to keep it in their memories like that then it good. It also gives the benefit of the doubt, where some readers would be delighted in taking the chance to read further.
Your choice once again, but I definitely still want to nag about nr. 3. Have a

3129080 those are all good ideas, but I have an explanation for 7 already: the opposite of magic is something that creates emptiness. Or 'Nothing' with a capital N. Discord said he gave 'spirit power' to everything, which was then called magic. Spirit power is what cancels out the Nothingness. So the opposite of magic is something that creates emptiness, or deletes matter. So maybe 'destruction magic' is the opposite of it?
Got a couple of names for music. Fantasia, any musical composition of a free or improvisatory nature. Lyric pertaining to, rendered by, or employing singing. Melody, which speaks for itself.
Have you checked the names of the Greek muses? Euterpe meaning "delight" or "rejoicing well" was muse over Song and Elegiac poetry, Polyhymnia meaning "one of many hymns" was muse of (you guessed it) hymns.
"Melodia divina" is Italian for "divine melody(and I think it sounds pretty).
3129364 You make a convincing point. However, then only Twilight would be allowed to wield both sides if it's destruction magic. Nothingness or deletion of matter could be applied in many ways. I'm up for it. The setting could be three options:
1. Twilight could wield Destruction Magic and try to restore the Everfree Forest.
2. Create a new world. Where she now can reshape it with magic. Becoming a second "Discord."
3. Ties in with nr. 2, could involve Cadence. Where the original 3 (Luna, Celestia, Discord) rules one world and Twilight, Cadence and a returning Spirit (Triumph or some-spirit-pony).
As always your choice
. Maybe a combined effort on all the topics so far. That would be kinda huge but eventually creating your own "universe" so to speak. In the meen time have a nice Celestia (day) or Luna (night).
Love the expansion story. The drawings are done nicely. Question though: Wasn't Triumph supposed to have a grin? (leaving the statue to stare, unblinking, over the gardens, with a triumphant grin on her face.) Wish to see you next valiant effort.

Spirit of music, eh? I want to call her "Concord". Why, you ask? Music is a mix of concordant and discordant tones. Naturally there's already a Discord, so we can't use that. However, Discord, one way or another, helped make music, so they're both parts of the whole in this case.

3131735 also, why would Twilight be able to wield Destruction magic? And destruction magic isn't even destroying things or using magic, it's like... the ability to make antimatter, it isn't negative, or able to be used by anything made of matter, it's just there, and when it comes into contact with matter they both stop existing. The opposite of magic is antimagic. It's that simple. (Discord and none of his 'creations', including Twi, are capable of antimagic, and I probably won't do anything with antimagic in general, this is just an extra tidbit)

The problem with Discord as 'God' is that chaos can never form a mind on its own, because 'thought' requires patterns of extraordinarily exquisite order.
Chaos in the mind, even a slight degree varied from the norm, results in all forms of mental illness.
And the typical excuse of 'because chaos does the unexpected' isn't right either, because for it to happen implies that intrinsically there must exist an infinite number of other Discords which never acquired thought... because quantum physics, random chance, infinite universes; that sort of thing.
Which is why, in spite of Discord still being the First and Awesomest, at least this story doesn't make him God, which I can add to the positives collumn.

And the 'chaos does the unexpected', before Discord started doing things, Nothing happened. Literally anything he did would be something completly new and strange to the universe he was in at the time. But I dunno. I'm glad you like the story.
