awesome story. Best interpretation of Trixie yet. Instead of portraying her as a misunderstood, angsty performer who is just trying to make a living, you made her not only realize her slight immorality but enjoy the means she took (stage performance) in achieving that. I also appreciate the 1st person dialog, as her speaking in third person adds an overblown, mentally unstable overtone to her egoism. In this story, she simply knows what she's good at: tricking ponies.

One thing: "It felt like a funeral, except with more joyous laughter and smiles of relief." implies that there is laughter and smiles at funerals xD

Read this earlier when it was posted to Equestria Daily and didn't regret a moment of it. Definitely a great one-shot and giving Trixie a good heroic moment.

Plus, wacky pinpall! What's not to love?

Great job!

Trixie's a pinball wizard. Awesome. THIS was great.

TRIUMPHANT. Like, it felt like an 80's movie. Which is awesome.

This was simply fantastic. Pinball, seaponies, an interesting angle on Trixie's character, and the CMC. This had a fun feel to it that was refreshing after some of the sadder tales of late. Good show!

Did anyone else have a Tron moment? I couldn't have been the only one. Right?

That was completely intentional. :rainbowwild: Some of the funerals I've been to...

No jokes about the album Tommy? I am disappoint.

I found this on Pen Stroke's favorites list. It's wonderful.

Man, I had entirely forgotten about this! This is a great and powerful funny story. :trixieshiftright::ajsmug:

That was a pretty darn solid story. Really liked how you handled Trixie, too. Very nicely done, good sir.

Forgot about this from way back. I never saw Trixie as a charlatan or huckster, but that's my view. *Shrug* If you ever do a sequel to this, I'll be reading it.

2801780 That's Trixie's whole point, there at the end. She doesn't (usually) literally do what she promises an audience- she gives them the experience of having seen it happen instead. Just like how Passport-Clean didn't actually build a pinball machine in Equestria and get Applejack magically sucked into it, but still gave us an entertaining story, Trixie can entertain ponies with amazing feats through misdirection rather than actually breaking any laws of magic.
Stage performances are like stories that way- you can know from the start that they're not "real" and still enjoy them.

2803980 A shame the Mane Six couldn't have realized that... :ajbemused::rainbowderp::raritydespair:

But that's why she's not a huckster or charlatan to me. She was an entertainer who told a tall tale. Fine. If the Mane Six hadn't gotten so bent out of shape there wouldn't have been any problems and she would've eventually gone on her merry way. I don't even see what she did as 'boasting' so much as 'advertising'. *Shrug* That's just how I see it.

2805291 What she did in Boast Busters is... more complicated than what she did in this story, for a number of reasons. I'm not going to bring that into this. All I wanted to say was that you and the story seem to be in agreement overall about what it is that Trixie does, even if Applejack doesn't approve.

2805291>>2805301
If Snips and Snails hadn't gotten all excited, this discussion would be moot. Trixie knows there's a sucker born every minute. She wasn't counting on them actually believing her.
Huckster or real artist? That's where the fun thinking really goes, and who cares? It was an excellent story.
'Nuff said.

I had read this before I registered on FimFiction, and totally forgot about it. I'm glad I found it again! I'm a huge fan of the pinball wizard song of course. :trixieshiftright::applejackconfused::applecry::eeyup:

Now I've got Pinball Wizard stuck in my head.

...Why am I only discovering this now...?

This is brilliant.

This was one of the stories recommended by the FimFiction panel I attended at BronyCon (by Obsolescence, I think) and I'm glad they did. Fantastic work. Great and powerful storytelling! :trixieshiftright:

I read this forever ago through EQD on DA! Never noticed it got put on here. This is like one of my favorite Trixie stories!
Such a lovely little comical story with a bit of feels at the end. <3

I gotta show my pals this. How this story isn't swimming in the thousands of likes and comments is WAY beyond imaginable!

Huh. Says you wrote other stories. Gotta check what else ya got. I always wished to see more from you way back after reading this story! xD

Guess I got Poetical to thank for reuniting me with such a lovely classic. You may have been gone some years, but just to let you know I thought you were an incredible fanfic writer. Cheers!

Am I the only one thinking that this is a parable on computer game addiction?

Also, when did I ever pay enough attention in school to think of such stuff when reading a story?
