Nyerguds

"The changeling looked at the foal much like a space explorer would look at an alien life form. He resisted the urge to prod it." - Flitter

I wake up, dazed. I look around me, and see robot arms gently lifting me out of a bloody cocoon. Not that I have words for this, yet. I know nothing. Nothing at all. Then, the strange helmet appears. I look on, fascinated, as it is put on my head.

As the memories flood in, I realize I made the worse mistake of my life.

I said "yes" when somepony offered me a second chance.

This story is kinda set in the Hippocratic Research Center of Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons, where Project Chimera takes place, but since I took some serious liberties with my version of the place I don't really think Project Horizons is required reading for this. Though it may help to get a better understanding of the place.

Oh my god yes. You plus fallout. Give me a second to compile myself.

Interesting read.

This was a nice short read, Nyerguds. Glad to see that you're writing more! Thanks.

My very first story here is a Fallout Equestria one... :unsuresweetie:

Thanks :pinkiehappy:

Like Flitter, this was just another one of these crazy ideas that popped up in my mind and just begged to be written :yay:

Rather enjoyed it, hoping for more. Fun concept for a character, a pony that's lived more times than he knows and is on his last life.

I liked the duality of the same place both making him live forever, and being out to kill him :twistnerd:

I had originally planned for him to get through the whole damn thing, but interrupting it when Blackjack blew up the place seemed to flow more naturally in the story, and it made it unnecessary to describe his apparently-existing role in Sanguine's plots :twilightsheepish:

(also, it makes this story a lot more independent from PH)

This is a very interesting story and I would love to read more about this character. Perhaps he escapes the hoof? Or maybe something else entirely. I can't help but feel like there really should be more.

Not sure. This really was just a single idea that popped up. I admit I have been thinking about him meeting the result of that last life he saw; a long family line which is used to seeing the nigh-mythical immortal forefather popping up every decade or so over the course of the last century.

But... I dunno. I definitely don't want to go into the actual life just before the one he wakes up to now, because it'd require me to make a clear connection with Project Horizons, which is something I simply don't want to do. Like this, the story works perfectly without Project Horizons.

Even besides that though, I don't have anything good planned for this character. Maybe if I ever get some good idea for this kind of reverse-amnesia story, I might write something, but as it is, there's not much to tell.

So yeah, thanks for the interest, but I don't think I'll be adding anything to this. I also still have to re-rail the train wreck that is The Daily Unlife :unsuresweetie:

Silly Surfer! Ponies are not made to be nommed! There, have carrot cake instead.

Yay, carrot cake! :yay:

That was splendidly well-written, and I was wincing in anticipation of the worst, especially after the machine showed him a family. Absolutely fantastic job with this.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! :pinkiehappy:

That was fuckin' awesome. Best serious FoE sidefic I've ever read. Not that I've read many.

Thanks! It was just one of these crazy ideas, y'know? :pinkiehappy:

I don't think there are many non-serious FO:E sidefics out there, though. Even my own The Daily Unlife, while it definitely has comedy, is quite serious about the wasteland. There's also Wild Wasteland and Duck And Cover, but all of them still treat the wastelands with the respect and seriousness it deserves. Unless you go for straight-up parody fics, I think that's about it for less-serious fics.

Oh look, there's my favorite FoE sidefic :V

I just happened across my review of this story and realized it was based on the blanks from Project Horizons, now that I've been reading that. :D More appreciation for it!

Ah! Yes, indeed, it is. I even put that in the story description. Of course it's always nice when readers have the same insight into that aspect as the author :pinkiehappy:
