Unholyheaven

T

Four hundred years ago, ponies arrived in a deserted sector of space. There they found much alien technology, and with it separated from Celestias rule. Free to shape their own futures, five factions came to power, all hoping to claim control of the sector in the name of Faith, Throne or fortune. This is each factions story.

This is the history and culture, as well as government and military of each of the five Koprulu Pony factions. The main story is called the Koprulu Sector and can be found at the link provided.

Hello,

I have some advice for your story. This chapter is over 20,000 words long, which might seem intimidating to some readers. If I were you, I'd break it up into smaller chapters of maybe 3-4K words each. That way, people aren't scared off by an intimidating chapter length.

Just a thought, of course :raritywink:

Your concern is noted. But trust me when I say the only people I imagine reading this are the people who already read the main story. The faction lore project just started with one chapter that was only a couple thousand words, but people loved the world building it did. So I made the next one longer and more detailed, and people liked that one more. Same with the third. I got a lot of positive feed back for all the detail I gave, so decided the next one (this one) would be the most detailed yet faction lore I've written yet.

The only people who would read it are most likely the people who want a massive detail on each individual faction. Got to give the people what they want. I'm kind of really hoping it gets bumped off the front page early on. Its not really one of those stories meant to be read unless you're already a fan of the series.

HOLY BALLS! This is the longest chapter I have read in a while. And yes, I must agree with your deduction, da detail's good.

The campaign on Braxis kinda reminds me of the colonisation of Brazil. Spanish tired to take it by force, failed miserubly, then the Portuguese came, and gave the locals trinkets, cheap shiny jewlery and got the whole thing. That's how I think one of the factions will claim the planet...only instead of the listed, they include a husband worthy of the natives' godess. :ajsmug:

Ah yes, history. I love history!

Wow, that was a long read....But I made it! The only thing I don't understand is which planets each faction has except their capitals. Confederacy has Tarsonis, Dominion has Korhal IV, Vatican has Umoja, the Khalai has Aiur and Cadance has Braxis (of all planets...). I know Mar Sara is in Dominion space in the story but what about all the other planets like Haven and Meinhoff. Also is Char under the Confederacy because of the QBB?

2939685 Minehoff is Consotium if I recall corectly.

Also, quick question Unholy. So technically now we have three distinct zerg broods in the sector(not counting the feral zerg) - the confederates, QB's forces on Char and the flesh eaters(they eat zerg, so technically they are zerg) from Braxis?

One more thing. Does QB by any chance have wings, yellow fur, pink mane and teal eyes?

Flutters being a crazy zerg activist would be awesome!

Tragically Blizzard has never made an actual map of the Koprulu sector for me to work with. I don't want to name a whole bunch of planets right now, because could bite me in the rear in the future. It would be cool if a map was made, but making a complete map three dimensional map of something that big would probably take as much effort as making an entirely new game. Remember, the sector is three dimensional, so that could make for some very strange shaped borders. Probably why there are so many violent disputes. It also makes it hard to me to envision an actual map.

Char is technically independent. I don't want to go into to many details until I get to that chapter. I'll say this though. The zerg have grown strong there. Not just in number, but in variety. Remember they have been getting help in evolving. It isn't Confederate owned, so anyone can go near if they want, though you probably wouldn't want to. If you go anywhere near it, the zerg won't let you leave until you make an offering to Queen Bee. As to what exactly an offering is, that will be explained in the main story.

As for Braxis/Cadia's strange history, that will probably be explained in a later update either this week or next week. I have some assignments to finish up. I hope to get them all done today so I can do another chapter on the main story, then do Cadia's lore shortly afterwards. Its only one planet, so it shouldn't be nearly as long. Cadia and Shining Armor are coming up very soon in the main story.

Question though. Does anyone actually care about military compositions? This is the first faction I did it for, and am wondering if folks would want to see an update for the dominion to explain their unit composition, or if I should just move on with the story?

i would love to see a lore page on the vatican and consortium.

Wait, isn't Cadance's planet named Cadia in the story? Also, interesting fact: Gauss weapons, aka coilguns, are actually highly similar to railguns. They both function using magnetic acceleration. Gauss weapons use a series of magnetic coils that surround the barrel to accelerate the projectile while railguns use two parallel magnetic rails to accelerate the projectile.

I see a problem with the culture of the Confederacy: if they are the loyalists to Celestia, why does their society have such a double standard in it about gender. The Equestria we all know from the show is known to be very equal when it comes to gender.

3269977

Technically it's a "temporary" military dictatorship. It was built on military service, and most of the Royal Guard and Navy were stallions

Also they were are using old charts left behind by protoss and terran. The terran charts labeled the world "Braxis" in starcraft. The colonist would later change the name.

This is very detailed, very well thought out, and beyond that given some personality. Very nice work here lol :)

4440643 I hate to tell you this, but the author passed away several months ago, but I think he'd appreciate your comment all the same:twilightsmile:

Fantastic lore, nicely done :)

3269977 that is true about equestria being rather gender equal overall, but Equestria isn't a military dictatorship either. The double standard probably came in on the belief that men are better suited for battle, even in Equestria, the Royal guard seems to be conspicuously lacking in mare soldiers. Also, with soldiers constantly going off to battle, with many of them never coming back (at least not alive), its deemed important for mare to bear as many foals as possible, especially since they don't believe in, as they share Celestia's disdain for the practice, nor have the ability to create clones, unlike the Dominion, which clones at will, and sees very little problem with it (at least the government doesn't) , aside from not cloning unicorns due to a weakened magic potential.

The Confederacy is essentially the Equestrian Royal Guard model applied to an entire society.

I wonder if "The Koprulu Sector union" will end up taking over this lore page as well, and finish what unholy started, like they have been with the main story?
