Princess Luna has been through a tough life. A thousand years ago she could not control her jealousy, envy and rage and became the infamous Nightmare Moon. Then, she spent a thousand years on the moon, only to return, still as Nightmare Moon.
However, despite everything she has been through, her return to Equestria was warmly celebrated. Princess Luna is a pony that everypony loves, and she is completely forgiven for everything that's happened.
So, when Princess Luna is suddenly and unexpectedly killed, the entire nation of Equestria is thrown into grief and despair. Ponies everywhere find themselves unable to deal with the tragedy.
But the worst hit is Princess Celestia herself...

It would have been more than a little presumptuous to automatically assume that the thing in your mind when titling the chapter was the song playing during the regeneration of the 10th Doctor, seeing as Latin itself predates it by a couple thousand years, though it certainly was the first thing that popped into mine.
Seeing the above comment about the funeral procession song, though, I just had to make the direct connection. Polarbearman threw it right over the plate, so I had to take a swing!

I knew Luna was going to get shot as soon as I noticed Navy Shield hadn't used his gun yet. Hopefully we'll see a bit of Celestia rage next. Incinerating all of Equestria by dropping the sun on it should do.
On a more serious note, that cliffhanger was evil. Though I'm holding out for a good ending nevertheless. It would be kind of a bummer otherwise, to have Luna die after all the effort and build up towards saving her. (But hey, such things have happened before, as readers of One Piece might know.) Good job!

We seem to have a big problem with the moon here.... Back in Chapter 9 they said Luna had to be killed during a NEW MOON so that she couldn't use the moon's power to regenerate herself. But somewhere along the way that seems to have changed to a FULL MOON, which doesn't really make sense, because that's when you'd expect her powers to be greatest. What happen?
The bad guys also seem to think she has to be killed outdoors in order for it to stick. Let's hope that was right.
