    Good & Bad News

Well! Long time no see, FIMFiction. Well long time no talk at least.

The good news is, I am now in a new job which gives me weekends back (sometimes)!

The bad news is, I am now writing to you from my iPad because my computer is finito. Kaput. No more. Dead...  And with it, several stories and continuations of other stories I have already published.  Yup. So you probably aren't going to see much more / any more Old vs New (if any of you were still following that haha), or Bitwise's Equestria (for those of you who got to pre-read a bit of it), or a few others. Sigh.

But eh. We shall rebuild! soon as I no longer have to write on an iPad lol.

    Good lord things are busy

Well!  This certainly has been a dry spell for people not following my tumblr.

Unfortunately, it won't be ending any time soon.  As you may have gathered, I have been exceptionally busy with my job. I have actually been writing, but I have mostly focussed on the various comic storylines being published / pending publishing over at Fernintumblr / Mare-vel Comics.

Hand of Justice: Mirror, Mirror has been coming along at a brisk pace, but is currently on hold for a Halloween-themed comic which will start on 07 OCT.  If you like Fiddlesticks... well, or if you really DON'T like Fiddlesticks... check out Dirge of Scaretzo.

Old Appleoosa: Heritage is coming along nicely, and for Pinkie fans the next chapter is currently in production (although the artist has been having a few difficulties).

That's pretty much it from me.  Hopefully things will slow down in a few weeks and I will be able to do some legitimate writing again.  As much as I like doing comic scripts and the exercise in telling the story in as short a time as reasonably possible is fun, I do need to do some actual narratives aaaaaaaahhh. @_@

    Marevel Comics

Or, "What the heck has Fernin been doing all this time?"

Well!  As Creideiki so correctly pointed out in my last journal, my lack of uploads has not NECESSARILY implied writing inactivity on my part.

In fact, I've been working on a few pony superhero comics!  They're being published at my tumblr.  If you're interested, see the links below.

1.) Sonata Du Octave-- A three-issue comic focussing on the superpowered clash between Vyclops (alias Vinchenza "Vinyl" Scratch) and Doctor Octave (alias Dr. Octavia Philharmonica), based on my earlier My Little Marvel.  The issues are:

    Overture: Octave Rising (now complete)

    Fugue: Blind Justice (ongoing)

Duet Con Moto (to be published)

2.) Hand of Justice-- A graphic novel focussed on the exploits of an inexperienced young superheroine Lyra Heartstrings.  Cheer (and as appropriate, cringe) as she tries to balance her personal issues with the greater goal of upholding the cause of right as... The Hand of Justice.

3.) Old Appleoosa-- Issue 1: Bounty.  This will be a Western-themed comic based on some concepts I worked up with JamesCorck on Deviantart.  Depending on how the first issue works out, there may be more.  Have to see.

...Anyway, so that's part of the reason why I haven't been around.  Main reason is work-related though, sigh.

Ack.  The scenario in the opener to the Trixie ep was almost EXACTLY what I was going to use for a changeling-related Trixie story that I planned out four months ago.

And now if I get around to writing it, the scenario will look unoriginal.

Cursessssssssssss this is the "Rainbow Dash as a Drill Sergeant" thing all over again.

Oh well, that's what I get for being slow.  In any event, as you may have noticed I've been very busy with my new job and have done basically no writing since getting back to the States.  It's unfortunate, but there it is.

The Medallion of Light and the Medallion of Shadow are some of the most powerful yet obscure artifacts of antiquity.  Created by a now-vanished cult of assassins, the two devices together give their bearer the incredible power to walk the worlds with but a single step.

Nefarious forces are closing in on both artifacts, and very little stands in their way.  Heinrich Himmler's agents covet the medallions for the greater glory of the Third Reich.  Ahuizotl's simply want their master to get what's coming to him: the world, and everything in it.

With the fate of all good people and ponies in doubt, one thing's for certain: saving two worlds would be one hell of an adventure.  And if adventure has a name, it must be Daring Do… or is that Indiana Jones?

Will our heroes win the day? Find out in... Daring Do and the Medallion of Shadow!  Or, Indiana Jones and the Medallion of Light!

NOTE: there will be some violence in this story, but nothing more than you would expect to see in an Indiana Jones movie-- so I didn't check the "gore" content box.

Artwork by Tzelly-el.

Special thanks to SapphireStarlightPony & Rated Ponystar for helping with the brainstorming on this one.

Thanks to this stupid thing I've had the Indiana Jones theme song stuck in my head for like the past four days and I am about to claw my eyes out AAAAAAAHHHHH @_@

This needed to happen. And now it has.

As soon as I saw that art work I knew a Fic would come and now it has *squee*

Tracking for when I'm coherent enough to read it.

YES! I was always a fan of the Indiana Jones movies. And this just made my day. I tip my hat to you good sir, and I wait for more!:pinkiehappy:

oooh, nice. This is seeming to be awesome :rainbowdetermined2: :pinkiehappy:

Holy poop! Yes

#7 · 139w, 6d ago · · · Ch 2: Lost ·

Quite nice, quite nice indeed. This is seeming to be really good :D

niiiiiice. I will give you... A MUSTACHE! :moustache: Use it well comrade

Good story; awesome concept. I've advertised this for you on my Tumblr.:pinkiehappy:

Not one more fiction! Now im up to more then 140 to read and more then 400 chapter + a story to write + school.

I haven't seen an Indy crossover with this much potential since Indiana Jones and the Simian Odyssey (artwork for the story here). Let's all pray that the quality matches, but the length of time between updates does not.

The only bit that seemed to be off was that at one point you wrote 'canon' instead of 'cannon,' which is a fairly common and amusing mistake.

This idea is delicious!

Love it so far.

OOoohh... Oooohh!

I came.

wonder if the two meet each other? (had not read storie yet) also i knew dareing doo was the pony form of indy with that whole "never leave hat behind" thing... OH GOD YOU JUST MADE THE INDIAN JONES THEME SONG GET STUCK IN MY HEAD!!!!

This is the good part about being a brony. YOU NEVER RUN OUT OF STUFF TO READ. EVER. :D

This level of fiction-meets-fiction actually earns my seal of approval. Because neither of these take place in the primary universes! Indiana Jones is fictional in real life, and Daring Do is (apparently) fictional in MLP. So... :pinkiehappy:

I bow before your intense level of detail, TEACH ME MASTER!!!!

Will Indy and Daring Do ever meet each other for more then a few seconds, I don't know say, stoping the bad guys near the end?

But anyway, like this very much.

I found my new tracked story

really? nobody has said it yet? well, allow me,

"In Soviet Russia, adventure finds YOU!" :trollestia:

So excited! Can't wait for the next part to come out! :pinkiehappy:

Very well done.

My Freind, you have CAPTURED the True spirit of the Indiana Jones adventure in your writing, in Both WOrlds!

I'm Sad that Jones and Do won't meet so far, but you've captured all the drama and the action of the series.

And now I have the Indiana Jones theme stuck i my head as well.  Thanks a lot!

Very good, only complaint is that you need to have a better way of separating the scenes Indy and Daring ( use [hr ])

This had better end up featured!

Oh wait, it did.

Having that great theme in the head is not a bad thing at all, also the official name is Raiders March and it is only rivaled by the Star Wars theme.

And it took the Brony community this long to make a crossover with Indy in it. Huh, well I have nothing but, you sir are amazing.

>>337458 :duck: yep and me being a avid reader (Twilight approves ) is loveing it!!!

>>337868 try meanwhile or just DOO when it is daring doo and INDY when it is Dr.Jones that work?

>>337888 i know right i figured a storie like this was going to come along sooner...

I am also a big reader, and the Brony community sure does know how to supply good reading material.

Words cannot describe how awesome I think this is.  Using a full-on world swap instead of making it a 'dynamic duo' sort of story makes it much more enjoyable.  Daring Do vs. the Third Reich.  Hell, if she can take them head-on, she should be able to take on anyone.

Also, I can imagine the dialogue between Daring and Marcus Brody would be quite amusing.

There has actually been at least one other that isn't so bad. It had Samurai Jack, the Mane 6 and older Indy.

ok i just read all 3 chapters and i think i know what happened... they switched places but they may have accidentaly switched some memories as well so daring should expect more memories as well as Indy... also i think for them to meet the two halves need to meet and become one and to get sent back it needs to be broken in two again...

Why did it take this long for someone to make a fanfiction like this?

Hope you got more from Daring Doo and Indiana Jones.

There is something very wrong with your list. You left out the Jurassic Park theme.

So, we have an Indiana Jones crossover and a Jurassic Park crossover.

When will the JAWS crossover be written?

You just made my whole week.

Hay yeah! This was bound to appear, eventually :rainbowdetermined2:

One tiny mistake though: Nazi Germany would be using Reichsmark, not Deutsche Mark.

You know what your are right, though I can't remember how it goes, though I don't think it is as good as those 2, and mention of Jaws reminded me I forgot it too, but if I were to mention all of the great themes (video games and/or movies) we would be here all day and it would be well "over 9000" words long. And on an unrelated not I am looking for more on an unreleased video game from 1998 called Thrill Kill.

Liking this so far. I will carefully lift it from its pedestal, placing an equally-weighted sack of sand in its place, and then track it.
