Sheriff Silverstar presides over a town that is the envy of a great portion of Equestria. Despite being a dusty and rural frontier town it is remarkably cosmopolitan in many ways. Aside from the pony inhabitants the buffalo territory lies not far away and they freely populate the town, and with a very good set of mines Diamond Dogs have begun to ply their trades. The population is happy, but Silverstar is not. He tries to be, but it never lasts.
Silverstar is wed to a mare whose contempt for other species gets no disguise inside the house, and sends him into the kind and tender embrace of buffalo cow Cactus Blossom, the chanteuse at The Salt Block. He has been out with her, and enjoys it. But such happiness cannot last in that form. He must pursue real and lasting peace.
(Yes, you are not mistaken. The story title and the chapter titles are named for the works of Garth Brooks. Mock all you want but I genuinely enjoy his music. Besides, for a western setting like this a Country music reference seems proper.)

I don't know 'The Night Will Only Know' at all, don't think I've heard 'The Red Strokes' previous to just looking it up, but I know 'That Summer' very well. My knowledge is mostly restricted to radio.
Very appropriate title, though he fared a bit better than the song.

"Exact words" comes into play here. Cordelia is no lawyer but she considers herself owner of all things on her property (though obviously marriage makes it complicated.) Silverstar know he could take his things but like most battered spouses he is once bitten, twice shy and would rather not fight Cordelia.

Passionate responses, that's what I want.
I had to make sure that these characters were round and motivated. That there was a sense of history as well as future. Insufferable and mean as she may be, Cordelia has a context now. She's an Antebellum Southern Aristocrat in a very Postbellum world, a petite Faulkner extra wedded to a Western lawman with a heart of gold. She was earnest in her marriage because she thought she could change him into someone like her. And when she couldn't, well, that's where the love went.
His accent bugged me at parts, but unfortunately I have no advice to give right now. It just seems to get thick as molasses in January at parts where it has no real reason to be.

Dang what a way to start off your story so it looks like Sheriff Silver Star have an affair with cactus a female buffalo that they met about a few days ago and they became very close to each other which I will say that's a bad thing because he is still married by the way how his wife is I don't know speaking of his wife when he got home his wife got so mad that he came home late but what makes things worse she caught the sense of a buffalo which she was not happy at all and she just beat him up like there's no tomorrow and then kick them out of the house now the situation makes things more complicated now
Now I know that singer Garth Brook courtesy of my brother and his wife they listen to country songs but I probably won't recognize some of the songs you reference in your stories

Boy that is a pretty ugly situation that he's in but it looks like he made a decision and he needs to go home to talk to her despite Cactus and Morton telling him that she will keep on abusing him but he has other plans when he got home of course Cordelia thinking that he comes back and stay for good but he just wanted to tell her the truth about behavior in the way how she's been and everything and basically trying to get his belongings but of course she used a law against him that everything in this house belongs to her now including the items which that was not cool so basically he just left without nothing good for him because she is something else
Yeah that's going to be a huge problem yes his wife is an abusive Pony but he did not help himself either by cheating as well but I'm sure somebody will give him a good reason because his wife doesn't even love him and he doesn't even love her either I don't know how this works
Apparently everybody is kind of in the edge at this feels emotional after hearing that silver star has to go back to his wife and basically abusing him but no matter what the circumstances Cactus will be there for him and it shows how much she really loves him so much meanwhile after Sheriff Silver Star and his wife heated argument he went to the restaurant just to check out and have lunch he even meets the pony and the Buffalo who announce how much they love each other and got married which again good for them I think that's wonderful and despite that SilverStar is really in the mess right now that's one thing he would never regret meeting cactus and falling in love and it looks like Cordelia is looking back at old memories and thinking it was his fault that this is all fell apart but we all know darn well it fell apart when she was acting so racist and abusive Pony I just hope sheriff SilverStar will get through this
Well then it turns out to be pretty sweet after all the drama they have to go through speaking of which Silver Star made an announcement not just only the newspaper but the whole town about him and his wife not together anymore because sooner or later they will know what's going on so he might as well say it which I think that's a pretty bold move and it was sweet of Gail and Howeling offer him support after that big huge announcement and they offer him to dinner but the thing is he doesn't want to be late for a cactus performance and he made a promise to her meanwhile at the bar she felt worried that he's not going to make it and she doesn't want to disappoint the audience so she went up there she was pretty sad at first that he didn't show up but surprisingly he did and alongside with the two couples as well again this was a pretty sweet one here

Omg this is the sweetest moment I ever seen my entire life so apparently cactus rather ruin her reputation knowing to the fact it will make her bad but she'd rather not let Silver Star alone miserable and had to do it with all the heartache and everything going around him which that is pretty brave of her to do that and she even did it in a song which the song is pretty amazing and despite that they finally admitted that they cannot live without each other no matter how bad it can be they always have each other that is pretty romantic I like that

Well this was pretty sweet so its looks like the court is now in session so they're going through the divorce telling their stories why they should they separated and of course both of them don't love each other and because Cordelia basically used him just for the fame and recognition not only that physically and emotionally abused him even though the Silver Star was no better either because he was still married to her that is still cheating but that was the only reason why because not only she was physically abused him but she say a lot of racist comments to other creatures and ponys which that is not cool but it looks like everything turned out pretty well because now he living with Cactus blossom and now expecting kids soon and despite all the heartaches and everything he was happy where he is now this was a pretty good story keep up the good work
