I've never seen a place that's quite like this. Everything is turned around; this crazy world is upside down.

Whenever Father's Day rolls around, Big Macintosh is determined to make sure that every member of the Apple family has a happy, relaxing day instead of letting them wallow in the sorrow of loss. There's just one problem with that.

He forgot one family member.

A great story and a good message. You can't ask for any more than that.

“I swear, you remind me more an’ more of Apple Oak every day, Macintosh.”

The Feels...

I cried :fluttercry: nice keep up the good work .

A fine story my friend. My father died back in 2004, so this has an effect on me. All I can do now is make him proud I guess. Even though I'm never gonna be able to finish my dream, I can just try to make my life work. Good job.

:pinkiesad2: That was nice...nice indeed

i understand the title now, his fathers a tree and macs an apple. macs just like his father, so the apple didnt fall far from the tree.

My father is still alive but my mother passed two years ago. Neither of their days, nor their anniversary have ever been the same. This story really captures the emotional responses that could be found in a character like Mac. I liked how Mac made certain that everyone in his family would be happy, even if he felt he didn't deserve his own joy. Fluttershy being at the cemetery mourning her own father was a very good way to show how different ponies deal with their grief and it was good that he was able to connect her father's encouraging words with a moment with his dad and be able to make some steps forwards in overcoming his grief. Great story. Kidda wish to read more of you writing Macintosh. See you in Brighter Days friend.

Not bad, not bad at all. A sweet little story.

I think you played too much Minecraft, though - "Apple Oak" makes very little sense outside that game :rainbowwild:

Some small corrections:
> But... why don’t you want to spend the day with your family.
Should end in a question mark.
> How’s about you and I head out fer a picnic, Granny?
A line break slipped into the middle of this sentence. Might want to remove that.

(Wow, this got into a Fluttermac group over a few words exchanged on a graveyard? Those crazy shippers :facehoof:)

Good eye on those corrections. Thank you very much! Also, funny that you caught the Apple Oak thing from Minecraft, haha. It just seems like a fitting name to me since it completes the tree metaphor I've got going in the story.

I think it probably got into that Fluttermac group solely based on the fact that the two main characters listed are Big Mac and Fluttershy. Unsurprising, but funny nonetheless.

This is a wonderful story. I teared up. Everyone always focuses on Applejack and Apple Bloom and how they feel and dealt with their parents being gone, but not a lot of people think about what Big MacIntosh went through. I think that's because he's older than his sisters, that people don't think it hit him as hard. It's nice to finally see someone focus on Big Mac for once. This story makes me wish I could have celebrated Father's Day.

You did a wonderful job personifying Big Mac and his quiet sensitivity. Well done!

Why does everyone want their parents to be dead

Wonderful little story. I like Big Mac as a character, and your characterization of him felt very 'true,' whatever that might mean. Bravo!

4566713 Because they are, according to the word of god, they just don't know how to broach the issue properly.

4862929 Nope, they were just never planned (And calling Faust God is kind of stupid)

4863714 ...Sigh. One, it's a phrase that means the creator said something is so. Two, in this case it was Megan McCarthy if I'm remembering right; it's been repeated by other writers since.

a touching story. I admire mac so much.
