Story teller at heart. I like to examine the unusual. I spend too much time being 'reasonable'. I write to play, and hope others enjoy the results.

Would Canon Celestia and the Mane 6 countenance the Conversion Bureaus and Ponification? In the face of a megadisaster that would sweep humanity from the face of the Earth, I think they would. If only as the lesser of two enormous evils. Our world is out to get us, and only Celestia and the Mane 6 can save Humanity.
A meeting of the group as they put the plan together, and as their worst fears come to fruition.
Author's Note: I don't know if I will continue this. But I encourage others to examine the ideas and play in the sandbox.

A good story should provoke discussion, debate, argument...and the occasional bar fight.

Conversion Bureasus Fics...they never die.:pinkiesick:

2637856 Because they appeal to our dark side, and let us project the dark on familiar characters and the question of what would we do facing extermination at the hands of true, unrepentant evil. (In RL evil is white-washed as the 'victim', and excused).
In this case, the questions of good and evil apply more to our favorite characters. What would they do when facing an implacable enemy?

Oh great another CB story were the ponies think they can force change on people "For their own good"

Interesting...
However it's nothing against you as an author but i'm honestly really sick of ponification or death.
Why so many people want to be ponies or ponify others, i will probably never undstand.
But facing such a situation myself i would rather die, because my stance is "Born as a human and as a human i will die".

Anyway since in don't like the storyline of ponification but the rest is still not bad, i will still give a you thumbs up.:ajsmug:

2638154 Then you'd be in the HLF, or if you had skills useful in generating the Humanification potion (anything from chemistry to a good imagination), or just a strong back for clearing museums, the government would be using you for the support echelon.

Well, the ponies did still make some questionable decisions, but their actions were much more acceptable to me than in certain other works in the sub-genre. This is because not only did they have good intentions, but their "good intentions" could be seen as such by pretty much everyone involved instead of just the ponies. That is, they were actually trying to help save humanity and not "save" humanity (i.e. save humanity from itself and/or "save" humanity in a way that pretty much eliminates humanity anyway).

2638154

the original story idea behind the Conversion Bureau was convert or die because Equestria would basically kill humans.

Remove that and it's either evil ponies, which COMPLETELY missed the point of MLP, or it's some eccentric people want a change while others resort to violence because they won't accept that some people want a change.

2638706 That was the other reason I gave them limited resources and a time limit. I can't see our heroes doing something unless it was an immediate crisis, and even then Twilight has been torturing herself that she didn't do better.

2639405

the original story idea behind the Conversion Bureau was convert or die because Equestria would basically kill humans.

That's simply an incorrect statement, my friend.

2638154 Thanks for the idea. Chapter 2 is entirely your fault. No 'pony or death'. :raritywink:

The entire idea of this theme of "conversion" is just as pathetic as this fandom. Why would people want to be ponies? Sure it's blissful, but so is ignorance, living under a dual matriarchy is just as miserable as living under a czar, no matter how benevolent the ruler, power poisons the mind of any sentient creature. It only makes matters worse that these rulers "control celestial events" (lie to EVERYONE). So yeah, conversion at all must have been developed by the most pathetic brony of the bunch (amongst many pathetic colleagues) and I hope it dies with Pinkie Pie, who I would love to beat to death with a lead pipe.

But that's just my two cents.

This fic is great. Do you plan to continue it at some point?

2764541 As I get ideas, yes I will. But right now I can't think of anything.

2692423 Well, the CB stories WAS made by JDR, a moronic, feministic bigot who used to be a man, before having a sex change, and has serious mental issues.

2829236 Well there you go.

Cant remember what I said but it got deleted so I am going to assume it was negative. Well cant have that this story is still shit

2692423 Not forgetting the complete bastardisation of technology and free thought. The ponies are more racists bigoted ass holes than we are. I hate it when people write that we are beneath them lesser beings and that being a pony taking away our free rights, history, culture, personalty and free speach is worth it because we might get some pony poon. Talk about pathetic

I want this to back fire on Celestia just for the shits and giggles

To answer, Distorted Flare and More Dakka were insulting each other about why the story sucked. I'm okay with having my work insulted, it is an experiment after all, but there was no cause for the language being used on each other. So I deleted before it became basically 'yo mamma' jokes.

3811100 It did, sort of. The resistance had Twilight and Her Britannic Majesty's Marines had to rescue her. It will probably be up there with the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima on acts of questionable morality. But I still think they did the right think with the time pressure and the limited resources/intel they had. Celestia, Luna, Cadance and Twicorn will probably be asked about it for the rest of their lives by and endless stream of know-nothing know-it-alls.:twilightoops::raritycry:

Well, at least they gave us Moon Base Alpha.

3811120 i was thinking of the potion turn them back to human would be the problem, the potion seems to be magical in nature so from pony to human woudint the potion still be in them and kill them after the transformation? and I thought volcanos erupt from the pressure of the lava and such? so a tunnel network that lets the lava flow though could buy a few more years to find a better more permanent solution

3814298 Two links to documentaries on the Yellowstone Supervolcano (and the mechanisms of other supervolcanoes).

I'm linking these, becasue they're about 45 minutes in length.

Basically, relieving the magma pressure causes the explosion. 1600 cubic miles of material is too much for the biosphere to absorb, and nopony has the power to put it somewhere safe, like the LaGrange points, and it all has to go there at once, relieve the pressure and you get the boom..

3814362 I allways knew my science teacher was full of shit now I have prof

and of the potion? watching several million die from organ failer before thay can stop distribution would be the most horrifying thing that will happen to them (thou some might transform back just fine thare is allways some who are immune that's just evolution)

Not bad. A few noticeable quirks, but nothing worth mentioning. I'll give it a thumbs up.

You actually did it! You created a plauseable reason for CB to exist and its all wrapped up in a conspiracy to trick humanity into helping itself and satisfy all human factions, and not as a flat out excuse to write 'soft' genocide, as with the Transformation Story Archive's HEA* shared universe. Bravo!
This may convince me to read more CB stories than the one or two I have... before I ran into one that painted the entire show cast as massivlely OOC, in a King Sombra level of evil arrogance, "wrong" and dark. :facehoof::pinkiesick:
(*Human Extinction Agency, Similar premise to the Keanu Reeve version of "Day the Earth Stood Still" except the aliens are as opposed to killing the humans as they are to the humans killing the animals off, preferring to blend them into the biosphere as the animals they endangered. First written in 1995...)

4076808 3879913 I'm glad you enjoyed my experiment. You might enjoy CB - Kenny. CB - Earth's New Masters, probably not.

If you ever consider going further on this, I'm definitely interested in your take in this AU conversion bureau you have

So the griffin option is available.

I imagine the changelings, buffalo, diamond dogs, ZEBRA (seriously, why has there never been a zebra convert?), all wanting to get in on the act.

4816633 I might add to it if I get an inspiration that fits.

5219149 Of course, they were trying to attracts as many people as possible. Loosing my fingers would be a nonstarter for me, even with magic as compensation.
Although the dragon option would be the one I'd take.

Bravo! That's the second TCB story I've found where I genuinely sympathize with Equestria.

6072703 Out of curiosity, what's the first?

Now this is a Celestia I would gladly follow as my Princess, she's doing right.:)

I could actually see this plausibly happening. Well done.

Cliffhanger, my arch nemesis! We meet again!

6072703
I do kind of wonder what the other one is. I just read this for the first time and I have to say, I kind of adore this sort of story. Not TCB stories, that is, but ones that have hard decisions, where no matter what least evil you pick, you lose in some way. I find them the most emotionally intense.
