Thank you for pointing that out! He is actually not meant to be fixing anything with his magic and has certain restrictions on it. The book was beyond fixable with a restoring spell, so he had to use a more focused time spell on it which is hard for him to do. If you have anymore questions later or are confused about a certain part, just ask again! I usually make sure everything he does is right with his character.
