Sandstorm Inkwell

T

Jvarn, Kilm, and Hayt are all comrades in the Imperial Guard. Members of Veno Six's Sixth Regiment, they traveled space to fight the enemy's of the Imperium. During a routine boarding action, however, a Chaos trap pulls the three into a new world entirely.

Can they resist burning the xenos long enough to find a way home?

Looks promising. The imperial guards are as far as i can tell in character.
I really hope they don't get too friendly with the ponies.

Keep it up.

More pls....:twilightblush:

or face summary execution for dereliction of duty by your local officer of the Commissariat. :flutterrage::pinkiecrazy:

Sorry if I had spammed your thing with update notices but I published it, noticed a mistake and hit unpublish. It didn't do anything so I hate it again. It then decide to unpublish and then republish the chapter so I had to unpublish it AGAIN! :twilightangry2:

*sigh* So, I apologize. :twilightblush:

I'm consuming way too much warhammer-infused content. Is that allright?

It stumbled, blinking in surprise before three more las-rounds slammed it to the street.

Lasbolts. They're lasbolts.

With a report muffled by the suppressor, the rifle bucked into her shoulder as the round shot out.

Long-Las is a type of lasgun. Lasguns have flash suppressors, they do not suppress sound.

Again, she watched as the round hit.

Laser beams travel at the speed of light and do not follow ballistic trajectory, watching as the bolt hit its target is physically impossible.

He wore the same as Jvarn and Kilm: black boots, dark blue combat fatigues, a black flak vest, a black pauldron with Imperial Aquilla, and a white beret with their Regiment's pin.

No combat helmet\breathing mask?

He watched as red bolts flew past him

Once again, lightspeed.

Why do His warriors help one breed of xenos, instead of purging them all? Why do they even attempt to communicate? Do they not fear the wrath of the Inquisition?

With the smaller box clattering to the ground, the being pulled another from pockets that hung over it's armor and slid it into the bigger box.

Guardsmen do not discard empty powerpacks as those things can be easily recharged for later use. As far as I know you can just live them by the fire, and that will be enough.

Corporal Gravitational Lift twisted the hilt of his sword to release suction before pulling it from the dead Changeling.

That name is horribly lame, change it.

2627297 Wow, this is the most constructive criticism I've ever gotten. Thank you for that.

Lasbolts. They're lasbolts.

I have a Ghosts of Tanith book in front of me as I write this and it uses "las-rounds". Thank you for the advice (it may be lasbolt in a different book) but I will stick with las-round.

No combat helmet\breathing mask?

Nope. Numerous Regiments have forsake the helmet for some other form of headgear. Ghosts wear hoods, Tallarn wear their headwraps, so on and so forth. As well, they have no need to wear masks during a run-of-the-mill boarding action. I will include them in their equipment listings (when I get that far) but only Hayt will actually wear one for now.

Laser beams travel at the speed of light and do not follow ballistic trajectory, watching as the bolt hit its target is physically impossible.

That is actually pretty true. Hmm... changing the story to fit will be... complicated but if you wish, I will do so. :twilightsheepish:

That name is horribly lame, change it.

Indeed it is. Any ideas? If none, then he will be known as Lift or Grav.

Guardsmen do not discard empty powerpacks as those things can be easily recharged for later use. As far as I know you can just live them by the fire, and that will be enough.

Who says he's just gonna leave it there? However, thank you for the information.

Why do His warriors help one breed of xenos, instead of purging them all? Why do they even attempt to communicate? Do they not fear the wrath of the Inquisition?

Good question that I'll probably delve into more next chapter. However, in case you've yet to realize, Jvarn is the only real fanatic of the group. The reason why he isn't killing the ponies (yet) is that he thinks that the "psyker insectoids" are a bigger threat to him and the Imperium.

Kilm recognizes that they are xenos and wished to not have contact with one because of it. However, to her, she saw innocents in trouble and wished to help.

Hayt, well... he's got something to burn. That's about it.

EDIT: Sorry, forgot one response.

Long-Las is a type of lasgun. Lasguns have flash suppressors, they do not suppress sound.

Gonna have to defer to the dear Tanith First-And-Only with this one again. Mad Larkin (a regimental marksman) wielded the Long-Las with deadly efficiency and used a suppressor which was able to muffle the sound of his weapon. The wiki may say differently, but a Black Library author says it is possible.

I dunno, I've always felt people have gone to extremes with this. It's either kill them all or hugs and kisses (eventually). Why can't we have a fic where they are tolerated yet disliked?

2629314
Yeah, a middle ground would be nice like an temporary alliance and such. Still hating them but not killing them (yet).

But if i have to choose between kill the xeno filth! or let's be all friends, i would choose kill because it would be make sense for an soldier from a massive, militaristic and extreme xenophic empire.

I think that so far this has a done a good job of giving the Guardsmen a reasonable position. Xenos are bad, but psyker bug monster Xenos are worse.

2631164
Even the Inquisition differentiates between the Xenos and Xenos Horrificus.

2631903

I would expect the Inquesition to be more flexible in that regard, actually. Especially Radicals.

Luna is quite a hypocrite huh? She tried to kill all life on her planet.....twice, and got off scot free the second time. I say that if her sister wasn't ruler of equestira she would / should have been imprisoned or put to death....

Grrr, I hate the notion of "royalty"

2645326 :facehoof: the episodes were writen back when the target audiance was still a group of little girls with an unhealthy obsesion with pink :applejackunsure:

2647924

Gasp! Your right! Alert the fandom! Stop the story writing! Stop anyone from analysing the show.......

Seriously, you think that matters at all to this fandom? If it did it wouldn't exist. I'm just saying it how it is....

2648144 *grabs popcorn and plops down on a couch* :derpytongue2:

2648144 :facehoof: wasn't even luna, it was nightmare moon :rainbowwild:

2648470

And who exactly do you think nightmare moon is? Luna was angry because she didn't get attention... like any child (btw, I feel that luna and celestia aren't much older than a thousand years, luna had to be a child the first time) and lashed out in a far less than acceptable way. (attempted to kill all life)

Do you think that if anyone else who wasn't Celestias sister tried to do that they would be allowed to live? Let alone be allowed back into power? No.

2648583 im a brony, you are a brony. Im done arguing about lunas transformation being mental as well as phisical. :unsuresweetie:

2648617

Well, I'm pretty immature when it comes down to it so I read that as an admission that I WIN!

2648583 Slight technicality. It wouldn't be all life due to the existence of the sub-species known by the fandom as "bat ponies" and the fact that some vegetation can thrive in a dark environment. Granted, it would be most life (or the life that couldn't evolve in time) that would die but *shrugs before popping a popcorn kernel in mouth* not all life.

2648648 meh... now go work on equestria six

2648648

And the cockroaches, don't forget the cockroaches. Nothing can kill them.... besides the boot.

when will the next chapter beeeeee!!!!!!!!

Nightmare Uprising huh...:trixieshiftleft:

Anyone else here thinking of the Horus Heresy?:trollestia:

2677065 Well, Luna's betrayal is so much like Horus's it isn't funny.

1: Close and dear relative of the ruler turns.

2:Said relative is turned by outside powers. (I believe it was said that Luna was, in a way, possessed. Her anger and jealousy must have allowed dark spirits to inhabit her.)(Horus was corrupted without his knowledge.)

3:Being as they were already respected rulers, they no doubt were able to gather a large number of followers, even without turning them.

4:Current ruler had to banish(or kill) close relative in the end.

Yeah, they had a lot of similarities.

Oh.... A thought just occurred to me.... Guardsponies with lasgun battle saddles! Like from FOE? Anyone? No? Oh well it's just a badass image, just picture a ponie in IG armor, with not one but two lasguns strapped to its sides!

Hyat:pinkiecrazy: Best intro for a character I have seen in a while.

2627255 you are really going to question this regiments attire when there are regiments in the Imperium that go into battle wearing their dress uniforms?

I gotta ask, what the hell is a pict? I looked it up and it was a Celtic tribe in Scotland, I'm guessing that is not what you meant so could someone enlighten me?

thank you.

3168025 Picts are pictures. And I'll start again soon. Just been busy with AIT.

On Hiatus :flutterrage: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF..............

I CRAAAVE MOOOOORREEE :flutterrage:

I think the author is misunderstanding the term "las-bolt". It isn't a bolt like in Star Wars, it's a bolt like a lightning bolt. But a laser. Also, the Guard does not do boarding actions, the Naval Armsmen do. Those guys are trained to a similar level of skill as Stormtroopers.

Personally, I think that with their kit they should have already escaped, retrieved their weapons, and begun purging xenos (starting with the princesses in a surprise attack). Especially due to the bitches' betrayal. Though, betrayal is expected of aliens (in 40k). It is in fact, the main reason for the Imperium's hatred of them.

BY HIS WILL YOU WILL GIVE US MORE OR BE CLEANSED BY HOLY FLAME:flutterrage:

7367414 people play as the imperial guard in soul Storm is not easy. But it is a shit ton of fun.

“Should we, uh- should we help it?” asked Crescent Shot, rubbing a hoof unconsciously against his burnt patch of skin.

“No. No, I-I think we just let it be,” answered Crimson Shield, shaking her head slowly, her eyes never leaving the sigh in front of her. In front of them was a large bipedal being of unknown origin with a... something on it's back that fed a... other something in it's claws that seemed to spit fire at the Changeling mass that had been recently attacking the trio of Guards.

“Do either of you know what it is?” asked the third of their group, Barricade.

“It's an unknown being with a weapon that spits fire,” replied Crescent. A series of harsh sounds met their ears as the being swept it's weapon side to side, “and appears to be laughing.”

“So... dangerous?” Barricade finished.

“Highly,” Crimson stated.

“We gonna stop it?” Barricade asked.

“Doubt it,” Crescent answered as he sat on his haunches.

“What are you doing? Crimson asked, looking at Crescent in confusion.

“Enjoying the show.”

“Good idea,” Barricade said as he also sat down.

“You two are unbelievable,” Crimson sighed as she too sat down, looking at the brutish bipedal. She watched as it smacked aside a Changeling with it's weapon before dousing it in a spear of flame.

“Sooo, anypony bring popcorn?” Crescent asked.

Radar has picked up a helicopter going soi soi soi.

I’m thinking this story is Totally dead
