This is going to be Twispike so fast, but even if I was hoping for some Sparity or better still Twisparity, I have to admit that this is hilarious.
Try not to make Rarity a bitch.
For the sake of novelty, I would like to see a well written Twilight x Blueblood.
The story could go with the moral that: "We dont always get what we pine for, but sometimes, it can lead so something better".
Atleast I would think it as a unique twist.

This is shaping up to be hilariously delicious!! Twilight's got a crush on Spike, Spike's got a crush on Rarity,, Rarity's got a crush on Blueblood, Blueblood isn't ---I repeat, ISN"T--a douche and is actually the cool as hell but slightly obviious cousin/relative, and Cadence's about to be put into a difficult situation again, just like last time when she was telling Spike about love.
Not to mention that it's being played just like in its sequel Heart To Heart that Celestia is Spike's mommy, making Blueblood and Cadence Spike's cousins...excellent!!!
And it's cute that it's ultimately a Spilight, but not just a Spilight, but that Spike is actually going to inadvertantly help Blueblood get Rarity as her special somepony. Usually, Blueblood is so negatively characterized that it's really hard to see him as more than an arrogant pseudo-noble. In essence, one prince is going to help another prince get a certain princess, when there is another princess (not Cadence) that is looking for her prince to finally realize the coffee.

Genius!! I have been so tired of reading Blueblood as a complete and total dick, to see him in this light. Not as a dick, prick, or a bane on ponykind. Here he seems believable, nice, overwhelmed by the crowns burden. See nice!!
Now this was littered with references to heart-to-heart and this started out nice and ended amazingly. I always have a worry that sequels never measure up to the first but this... This is a rival!!

I agree... But there must be more character development. This is a refreshing view on Blueblood, not only because he is a good guy, but because he is portrait so well. I've read fics where Blueblood was... Decent, but his character development was... Awful. Here the ball is high in the air... Let's see if it swishes the hoop.

I'm surprised at how natural the events came off in this chapter. Really, great job advancing and setting up the plot of this story. Doing it through Character motives, rather than arbitrary events no less.

Much as I'm loving the Spilight here, Cadance's departure from Blueblood's office, and her double-punchline, was the highlight for me.
It would certainly be hilarious if her history with Spike factored into the crazy situation those four are building around themselves.

I can't wait for more of this. It is great to see Blueblood written as a 3 dimensional character instead of a flat 1-D asshole. Also thrilled to see some SpikeXTwilight and hopefully some RarityXBlueblood. I know they are not the most popular pairs, but I am still glad to see them.

I suppose I'll have to go against the grain and hope that this ends up a Spike/Rarity fic with perhaps some Twilight/Blueblood in it. Frankly, I've never cared for the way Spilight always seems to be born mostly out of Twilight's desperation and fear of being alone, but given your past works, and this excellent first chapter, I have high hopes.
Looks like Twilight never really forgot about the proposal when they were young. And with Celestia being Spike's mother figure, Twilight is kinda allowed by both law and mindset to go after Spike. Interesting, glad to see a sequel.

Your opinion is very refreshing. I myself am a Sparity shipper, but I also adore some serious Spilight. The reason for both of them to me is that in ways, both relationships between Spike and either Rarity or Twilight are semi-canon, or at least subtly implied. Whether the writers that are working on Season 4 have it set up, it will be emotional, somewhat romantic, and above all else, CUTE and FUNNY!!!
I do think that Season 4 will actually have one of the two go from semi-canon to full canon for Spike, and right now it still seems to be a dead heat. Of course, when we have figured it out, I bet they're gonna be trolls and make Fluttershy Spike's canonical special somepony.......hmmm, the chaos would be delicious....
Sorry, off track.
TL, DR: I like both ships, I want one of them to be official, and I think Blueblood should get the one that Spike doesn't get.

I've never been one for Twike in a romantic sense (I generally go for mother/son there) but as part of a love quadrangle-comedy of errors with Rarity and Blueblood? Brilliant!

i don't know where you got an idea like that? Faust herself said Celestia raised Spike so she is his mother and Spike himself said Twilight is not the mommy in winter wrap up, so please explain to us why you think they are mother and son when it goes against everything the creator and canon tell us
note: i'm not trying to start a fight or flame war, i just want to know why people think this
So maybe Blueblood's plan to help Spike is to act like a giant deuchebag to Rarity like we saw in Best Night Ever.

We see Twilight Sparkle hatch Spike.
They have more of a sister/brother dynamic I suppose, although at times it does seem more like mother/son. Like in the crystal empire when spike is worried Twilight will leave him as his biggest fear.

mearly hatching his egg does not mean motherhood, word of god has Celestia raising and taking care of him, Twilight was a filly just starting school, she had no way of raising or providing for Spike in any shape or form, and as before Spike himself does not view Twilight as a mother figure
i can somewhat agree on the bro/sis dynamic but i see it more as two close childhood friends, also i've yet to see anything that would be classed as a mother/son interaction
again i do not see anything that would indicate a mother/son relations, i got more of a 'best friends bond drifting/breaking apart violently' kind of feel, as in Twilight is Spike's oldest and bestest friend, these two have been through thick and thin together, so for her to suddenly no longer wanting anything to do with him is a scary and shocking event, add in his young age and you just make things worse
but anyway i respect your opinion but i will have to disagree with it
