Commissar Rarity

You call this romance, Charlotte?

In the Equestrian Rim, the best known trader is Beatrix, or "Trixie", captain of the small freighter Lulamoon. Some would even call her a merchant princess. That's how well she's done for herself. She's never particularly cared about what happens to others, only that she gets paid.

But when a routine contract leads her to the backwater Outer Rim, to a colony called "Ponyville", things change. First she almost has a run-in with the nanite-infested Sombrans, and then learns the Sombrans have been raiding Ponyville regularly. So why does she now care about what happens to others?

Sci-fi AU.

Written for the EqD story event that happened May 13, 2013. The prompt was "Fireworks and the open road. Sun, rain, sleet and hail. Through it all, Trixie travels. It's up to you to figure out why she travels, and the reason she performs. A friend she left behind? Wanting to show up Twilight? Something else? It's down to you."

Cover art is The Great and Cosplaying Trixie by pikkinon, so graciously commissioned for me an age ago.

There's a lot of stuff that never made it into the story, not because of length restrictions, but because there was just nowhere to fit it in. So if you've got a question about the universe, just ask. I'll either flip through my notes or make something good up.

This is a story i am proud to have in my group 4/5 stars(meaning I'll read it again).

Pony Firefly! :pinkiehappy:

Highly enjoyable. A bit haphazard with the sci-fi references at times (such as mentioning that Trixie has a cyberleg out of the blue) but it kinda adds to the style. Feels very much like Firefly, if Firefly had magic and ponies.

Most negative thing I can find is that it ended very suddenly. I hope you'll write more stories in this setting.

I was on a tight schedule writing it, due to the EqD event restraints. Glad you liked it though. And I might write more in this universe, it just depends on if inspiration strikes like it did here.

I think this story is underrated and unjustly overlooked. It is a very well written glimpse into a universe where Trixie is an intergalactic smuggler - and a prosperous at that. I am proud to call it part of my collection.

Why are all the interesting fics short or incomplete?
Because I love the universe you created here. Intergalactic smuggling, groups named after villans, the fact Twilight has a nasally voice, it's super cool.
I'd love to see Twi's reaction to Spike. The adorkableness!:rainbowkiss:
Anyway, I really liked this. Good job.
