Well, that's about what I expected from this. Honestly, going theory for me is something out of the current MLP COmic, to those who know what I'm talking about.
...now that said, I have NO IDEA how this is going to go down. As it is, Pinkie may be the linch-pin to all this. ...on the other hand, the way this has gone, she might wind up making it worse, which in my mind makes sense all too easily.
Now, here's the thing. How in the heck could they stop Ace? Elements won't work, he'll have a contingency for that. Further, brute strength MIGHT be enough if everypony comes down on him at once, but likely he'll have a plan for that. Top it all off, the dude had near a year of brooding, slipping into insanity and this whole thing to fortify his already rather substantial forces...so that said, how in the heck do you compete with an army that's never tired, lethal, and worst of all, has no scruples or morals?
As is, I have my doubts about this ending well for anypony, much less the Main cast and Pinky and Ace especially. Maybe I'm just a downer, but with the way these stories have been...this one will take us further down the path of Despair than ever, and there won't be any going back for some.

I get the feeling whatever possessed Luna and made her Nightmare Moon has done the same to Ace. And don't give me those nightmare things from the comics, those are complete bullshit. It was Luna being lonely and messing with dark magic. After the modern day element blast, that entity became ethereal in a void between life and death. It saw Ace's self-loathing and used him. This is my headcannon.

Hell something tell me that Twilight is or will be working in some immortality spell, she has enough scars to start planning that sort of things, something tells me she will not let him go again
Will you incorporate the canon Season 4 when it comes out, or will this be completely original fiction? Just to mentally prepare myself for this...whatever it is, be it interwoven with Season 4, or original. Either way, it will be an epic to end all epics, as the predecessors to this have shown in spades. Anyways, on a side note, this has filled my fimfic rant quota for the day.
