1717557 I know it seems like a weird pairing, but it's actually one of my favorites.
Prior to Ponyville Confidential and A Canterlot Wedding, you very rarely see the CMCs interacting with Spike. However, Scootaloo is the first to mention a canon relationship with Spike in Cutie Mark Chronicles (she says Spike said ziplining was fun, implying they'd talked about it) I also think their personalities mesh well.
Spike falls for Rarity like a young boy falling for his favorite teacher or falling for one of his big sister's friends. It's a silly crush, on what he thinks women should be.
As he gets older Spike realizes he doesn't want a Rarity, he wants a girl he can relate to. Scootaloo is easy going, likes to do fun things like ziplining and scootering and won't mind his boyish quirks.
Overall, I just think it's cuter that SpikeBloom or Sparity and let's just say he's not Sweetie's type.
