I assume no responsibility for the rage generated from listening to this music.

Mine Cart Madness (Donkey Kong Country - 1994)

Congrats if you ever heard the second half of that track; it means you didn't die for awhile.

The mine cart levels were infamous for requiring several precisely-timed jumps.

So guess what made a return 16 years later?

XBL, I hope you enjoyed my 6 years of subscription. Halo, it's been nice knowing you. Now get the fuck out.

Sony, PS4, welcome to my living room. Probably.

My Asus G17 laptop? I hope you're going to enjoy the increased amount of attention.

Oh, I'm sorry. Were you expecting a blog entry here? That's a shame.

Maybe if you refresh the page constantly, one will magically appear.

REPEAT: ALL EMPLOYEES REPORT TO THE BOTTOM PLATFORM.

Escape From Laboratory (Resident Evil 2 - 1998)

To me, Resident Evil 2 has, without a doubt, some of the very best music in the entire franchise.

You've shot your way through an infected city, police station, sewer, power station, and finally got down to Umbrella's research labs underneath Raccoon City.

And now you've just hit the self destruct button, and it's time to go.

Escape From Laboratory (Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles - 2010)

The rendition in the on-rails shooter Darkside Chronicles, which plays through the same events, remains very faithful, and isn't held back by audio compression that composers were forced to do back in the 90's.

Hello, thought I'd start a multi-part journal series to pass the time until the Letters Anniversary and Trotcon.

A lot of video game music is awesome. A lot of older video game music is awesome. What is most awesome, is when a developer knows that, and gives our ears a shot of nostalgia years later. So here it is, my best throwback video game themes!

Bob Omb Battlefield (Super Mario 64 - 1996)

Every time I hear this theme, it's stuck in my head for hours. Swings perfectly, and is insanely addictive. Depending on your interpretation of this song, the Bobombs are actually singing this.

Throwback Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2 - 2010)

And here we are with its very faithful remix - the theme of the appropriately-named Throwback Galaxy. The swing is even more heavy in this one, and makes me want to get up and dance every time.

    More to come!

You guys should write some letters to Twilight.

Seriously, write them out in the comments here. Give her some feedback. Ask her a question.

I'll be sure to personally deliver them to her myself, and maybe she'll be in a mood to answer some of them!

    Letters Anniversary 30-Day Writing Challenge

So far, it's going well. 20 days remain, and I'm going steady. Hope to have everything good and ready for June 6th-7th.

    Rogue Bronydom

The group is nearly a week old, and we're about to hit the 70-member mark. No shortage of things to discuss, and I am amazed at how successful it's been.

I was amazed at what I was asked today.

So as you know from the parody of the event in Chapter 72 of Letters, I have been explicitly barred from attending the Summer Sun Celebration in Indianapolis in late June. So knowing I was not the only one denied entry, and knowing there were certainly ones who were not going to be able to make the trip north, I created a local alternative; Princess Luna's Other Summer Party, or PLOSP.

This morning just before leaving for work, I get a message from the Head Planner of the SSC. I am very shocked to have known this person in the past, but have not spoken to in over three years. She greets me, gives me a little history of how she came to planning it, how they will not break even if the event does not sell out, and then (wait for it...) asks me to cancel PLOSP, calling it an "anti-SSC" event, and that I was attempting to steal attendees.

    I had to start laughing.

Yeah, that's right. "You can't attend, but can you cancel anyway?" (I'm paraphrasing) So far, I have made a huge gaping hole in the SSC with the people attending my little get-together. Yeah, all THREE of them so far. I wouldn't be able to host more than 7 or 8 anyway. People who would not be going to Indy regardless of whether my event existed or not.

So you can imagine what I told her. But I'll let my words speak for themselves:

She didn't take that too kindly. She cut the conversation short, and I have not heard from anybody else about the SSC, thankfully.

Sorry, but when all of you put out your cash up front for an event, that was a risk you decided to take. Not my problem.

When my event description clearly states that this is for local Bronies unwilling or unable to travel, and you still ask me to cancel? Not my problem.

I have learned to not feed the trolls that got me banned from the HHBS nine months ago, yet my re-admittance is refused. I offered another olive branch in offering my volunteer services for the SSC a few months ago. I was flatly refused. When I put in a Maybe under the RSVP's for the event, I was explicitly told I would be denied entry at the door.

So don't you fucking DARE try to put the burden of your collective financial ineptitude on me. If some of you are put in the hole even if your event sells out,  you won't have anyone to blame but yourselves.

Seeing some people actually defend criticizing DHX staff over the trailer reinforced what I have believed for the past 2 years: when the Bronies finally fade into the past, it will be by our own doing. It will not be due to anything Hasbro or DHX does.

No, it will be our overreaction to something Hasbro or DHX does.

Are any of us honestly surprised by this ignorance? Have we so quickly forgotten where this fandom was born?

4chan. To those unfamiliar, that is the undisputed anus of the Internet.

Is it possible Equestria Girls is going to suck? Absolutely. Is it possible that Season 4 is going to be terrible? Absolutely. I am not a stranger to this.

I consider myself a fan of Digimon. Yet the US version of the movie was the most pathetic piece of crap I had ever seen, and I did not continue watching beyond Season 3 because I believe the 4th abandoned everything I loved about the franchise. I completely ignored the 5th season, and even the 6th when it came back after a 6-year hiatus.

And yet I wrote 78,000 words worth of fanfiction in 2007 set in the Tamers universe; six years after I had stopped watching.

I most likely still consider myself a Brony when the fandom finally implodes.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm holding out on the show lasting another 10 years, and then when their "target demographic" is over 18, we can talk about cartoon ponies having sex and it will be okay.

Alright. Making jokes is all well and good. Making fun of a spinoff we are uncertain of is all in good fun.

Seeking out cast and crew and giving them shit? Fuck no. It's time to pry your fingers off the keyboard and get your fucking ass outside. Especially when some cast and crew at DHX are considering leaving because of the criticism aimed at them and the trailer to Equestria Girls.

Take a few moments, go to your twitter account, and send some words of encouragement to the studio that gave us this amazing show. Use the hashtag #thankyouDHX.

And seriously - if you are among the bronies who are actively seeking out Facebook and Twitter accounts of staff to give them shit for a 60 second trailer, then you seriously need to unplug your damn modem.
