Good day all.

There are several things that need to be discussed concerning PonyFall, so let's get right to it.

Looking for Luna and Applejack Writers

The very difficult decision has been made to release the writers for Applejack (Belgianchief) and Luna (Bridgebrain).

Belgianchief has been suffering from a medical condition from which he will never recover, which is why his story hasn't updated in such a long time. His focus has (understandably) been on other, more important things. We were hoping that he could come back and finish his story, but unfortunately we have reached the point where we need to move on. Should he return at some point, he will have a chance to work on something we have planned for the future, should he wish to.

Bridgebrain's story just never really gelled with how the other stories were progressing, and was taking a very long time to update. The decision to remove it was very difficult, as Bridge is a great guy who is well-liked in the PonyFall chat room. He is, however, handling it like a champion and has agreed to stick around and help the editing team.

We definitely realize that the recent writer turnover may look like a very bad thing and that one might think the collaboration is falling apart. Don't panic! While releasing a writer is never exactly pleasant, quite the opposite can be said of the collaboration. It's finally coming together quite nicely now that Twilight and Rarity have their authors. Should these decisions have been made earlier? Yes, probably. That's part of the fun (difficulty) of writing in a collaboration. You get to learn to deal with unexpected complications.

Obviously, this means we're looking for Luna and Applejack writers. The process will be the same as with Rarity's. If you are interested, you need to bear in mind the following:

- You should love the concept of PonyFall and be familiar with the overall story

- You should be competent enough of a writer to avoid basic formatting, spelling, and dialogue mistakes

- You should have absolutely no intention of shipping yourself with the pony

- You should NOT have many other obligations that would prevent you from updating regularly

- You should understand that your story will be guided to follow the overall main plot

- You should understand the pony and be able to convey her mannerisms properly and keep her in-character

If you think you have what it takes, send me or Draequine a PM. Consider it as a job application, because we'll only be picking a few hopefuls to move on with each pony. Good luck!

Background Ponies

There is a plan for the background ponies, but we are not currently accepting applications to write for them. While your interest is appreciated, we're focusing on the main story before doing anything concerning the other ponies.

Discord

Yes, we've heard the feedback, which can basically be summed up as: Discord's chaos is like a strong spice. Add the right amount, and it makes things turn out great. Add too much, and it ruins the entire dish.

Yes, we get it. The amount of random chaos is being scaled back for future interactions. Most of the readers seem to prefer the slice-of-life approach many of the stories are taking, and were a bit put-off by the sudden inclusion of chaos. Discord will certainly remain a central part of the story, but he isn't going to overpower chapters like he did the first few times. Ironically, this is not straying from our original plan at all.

Twilight Sparkle and Rarity

There was some concern voiced that Twilight and Rarity need to catch up to events happening in say, Pinkie and Fluttershy's or the Cutie Mark Crusaders's stories. Don't sweat it. The writers know what they're doing, and we're not just going to shove them into the other stories without there being a reason for it. Both of these stories's second chapters are nearly finished and ready to be edited. They'll be caught up in no time.

Rainbow Dash and Princess Celestia

There have also been a few rumblings wondering where the next chapter for Rainbow Dash is. Basically, it's in editing Hell right now. Silverness is working hard, but he also has other things to deal with, too. It should be ready shortly.

Princess Celestia's story had some feedback concerning her characterization. Her writer is aware of this, and she'll eventually settle down to her usual regal self. No ETA on the next chapter, but it's getting worked on.

Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy and the Cutie Mark Crusaders

Hey, I churned out five chapters in one month. Leave me alone and let the others catch up, already!

Oh, wait. The Cutie Mark Crusaders story can't update until I finish my next chapter. Blagh. It'll come, it'll come. We're well ahead of the other writers (with the exception of Draequine), so we need to slow down a little anyway. Patience would be appreciated.

Slorgy's Fantastic Blog Update

Good day everypony!

It's been a little while since the last blog update, so here's a fresh one. I want to point out now that Sanctuary is listed first for a very good reason. Onward!

Sanctuary

I need to say this now. Sanctuary is going to define me as a writer. It will be my 'masterpiece,' assuming I'm capable of creating such a thing. That's not to say that I don't love my other stories or put care into them as I write them, but seriously - this one's going to blow you all away. I hope. I'd love for this to be the first story in the 'Sanctuary Universe' much like Fallout: Equestria or The Conversion Bureau in which other people can write stories within the universe (though only stories I approve would be canon) . I am very excited about this story, and that's a good thing.

Because of that excitement, I've been working on the story. No, a new chapter isn't available yet. What I have been doing is working out the kinks in the overall story. Unlike every other story I've written, this one is going to have a full conclusion set in stone before I begin writing it.

I have completely reworked the entire plot to steer it away from Diablo, though it is still a crossover and still retains elements from that universe. It is now going to more closely follow Aurora Lulamoon, and will stray a fair distance away from the plot of Diablo 3.

In fact, I have created an entirely new universe, from the creation of the world (Sanctuary), the gods, the first life on the planet, and all the way through thousands of years to the present time. An entire history is outlined and is getting fleshed out, which includes the canonical times shown in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and I have also created a history for the crystal ponies hinted at for season 3.

Additionally, I've fleshed out the main characters with complex and realistic personalities and motives. These aren't just barbarians, witch doctors, and demon hunters. They're living characters with histories, secrets, hopes, and ambitions. Sure, they are all OC's. But if I've done my job right (and I think I have), you're going to care about them just as much as you care about the Mane Six.

PonyFall: Australia

Okay, I was a bit depressed the other day about this story. Since then, I've discovered a few things. One, most of you love the story despite the problems it has, and two, the problems it has can (and will be) easily corrected and I should stop over-reacting.

I'm not sure when the next chapter will be out. I think my PonyFall writing binge may finally be over. I do need to catch up with PonyFall: Onward Valiant Crusaders though, so it shouldn't be too long before the next one is posted. I just have other things on my mind right now (Sanctuary)

The Final Element

All I can really say to my TFE readers is: thank you for your patience. I know it hasn't updated in a while. I'm hoping for a writing binge similar to the one I had for PonyFall. If there is one thing I've discovered as a writer, it's this: do not try to write a story when you're not in the mood for it. The chapters come out terribly.

I don't have much news on this story that you haven't already heard. After the funeral chapter (this upcoming chapter), the story will make its way towards its conclusion. Once that happens, I'll begin work on the sequel: Ever After Never Came.

The Saint of Killers Meets Twilight Sparkle

Yes, I began this story. Then I went and failed to finish it. It's okay though. This was meant to be a side-project all along, and it continues to be one. I have been writing little bits of it here and there. I'm assuming it will end up being quite short, maybe 3000 - 4000 words or so. It's definitely not a serious story, just a fun little project. For anyone who is unfamiliar with the crossover, you should check out Preacher.

The Day My Beard Turned Into Pinkie Pie Sequel

This is still happening, but I haven't had time to give it the attention it deserves. The last thing I want to do is ruin Beard's legacy by shoving out a half-assed sequel. It'll get worked on once some of my other projects finish up, or when I get bored and full of caffeine and sugar.

Untitled Changelings Going Camping Story

In my blog in which I asked for my readers to vote Junebug as EQD's next Nightly Roundup Header Pony, you guys delivered and had her absolutely crush the competition. Amazing! I promised a reward, and you all (well, about 20 of you) voted.

So it looks like I'll be writing a story about changelings going camping. Other than that, I have no idea how the story will unfold, but it will likely be a comedy. No clue when this will get started. Sorry.

Untitled Junebug Story

Surprise! A lot of you voted for a Junebug story, too. Well, I think that's a fantastic idea, so you get to have them both. Now if only FiMFiction would create a Junebug character tag... Maybe you should all email knighty and ask for one!

Dramatic Readings

Surprise again! Some of you wanted dramatic readings (especially those of you who voted on the PonyFall group page). Therefore, when and if I get time, I will try to do a few dramatic (or ridiculous) readings of PonyFall stories. Particularly PonyFall: Adventures in Chaos.

Here is a sneak preview of the next PonyFall chapter. For the first time ever, I'm letting my readers see a chapter BEFORE it goes through the very heavy editing process I use. The chapters usually change quite dramatically as I go through and find errors in grammar, spelling, and continuity and characterization.

I turned into a robot. It was time to get serious.

“Weapons activated,” I announced. “Population control in progress.”

I shooted all the peoples. Angel was just left gone. Don’t know where. Pinkie jumped on my shoulders.

“Yeah!” she cried. “Pinkie-Riding-A-Death-Robot time!”

Fluttershy went and hid in the girl’s bathroom. It was supposed to be women’s bathroom because mall. But I forgot because school has girl’s bathroom.

“Ka-me-ha-me-ha!” Angel yelled as he unleashed a Kamehameha at my face. I absorbed it with my face shield and propelled it back at the former bunny.

“You die time!” I announced.

“Your face has... healing powers?” Mark Hamill asked as he walked by. He was Luke Skywalker.

“Mark Hamill?” Pinkie yelled. “Well that was uncommonly random!” Mark Hamill was also Joker.

By this time Angel had reached his third form and activated his special abilities. He was now have huge health bar. He was a final boss!

“Oh you think you have won?” Pinkie crossed her arms like unimpressed. “I am a wizard!”

Angel ignored Pinkie and drew a sword. It was on fire. That was when the building exploded.

“Nooooo! My healing powers don’t work on napalm wounds!” someone said.

It was dramatic.

So, I noticed two things concerning the last chapter I posted almost immediately upon waking up and logging into FiMFiction.

1) Someone actually replaced their Thumb-Up vote with a Thumb-Down vote.

2) There are far fewer comments than usual.

One's initial reaction would likely be to ignore this. But this is me we're talking about. This is Uncle Slorgy! I don't just sit back and ignore it when things go wrong. So here are my thoughts on the two above issues.

1) Someone obviously really didn't like the last chapter. Seriously, think about it. How bad must something be for you to actually change your mind about the fact that a story is good, and then take the time to replace that vote with one saying the story is bad. This one chapter apparently made a good story bad. How did that happen? Sloppy writing? Poor characterization? A real hatred for Angel? Sadly, there was no comment left explaining why.

Rargh! Now Slorgy find it hard to love. Slorgy not know what wrong. SLORGY...

Okay, calm breathing. Maybe it's not so bad. Moving on to the next point.

2) Well then. Maybe it is that bad. Maybe I'm just getting spoiled (probably), but I'm used to getting about 40 - 60 comments per chapter with this story. I am noticing a disturbing trend.

Right around the time that Discord showed up, the number of comments dropped down to 26. Then it was 26 again with the next chapter. And now we're sitting at 12 the day after I posted the last chapter. The number of readers also seems to be drastically down (yeah some are probably catching up, but still...) This might seem like nothing to someone else, but a certain phrase keeps popping into my mind. "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all." For some reason, I feel like people are listening to that advice.

So I'd like to admit something right now.

This chapter was straight-up filler.

Yes, that's right. I was writing towards a few particular events, but a few things happened in other stories that delayed my plans. I had to come up with something to tide us over in the meantime until I can get to the parts I had planned.

But writing filler isn't satisfying, so I went with building Pinkie's character a little bit and then we'll have some character-building with Angel later on as well.

Maybe I'm writing too much emotion for some people's tastes, or maybe I'm not writing it well enough. Maybe I've gotten sloppy with editing, and have let too many errors get through. Maybe it's too 'slice-of-life,' or maybe it's too silly in parts. I don't know.

So what I'd like to ask you, the remaining readers, is this: What don't you like about the story?

Seriously, let me have it. Watching readers leave without explanation drives me bonkers and kills my will to write. I'd rather have some thoughtful feedback on anything that's bothering you, the readers.

Leave comments below on anything that you either A) dislike about the story, or B) are worried about in the story.

I'll listen and observe. I'm not so conceited as to think I'll get a chapter right every time, and I'm always looking to improve. Hit me with your best shots!

So a few days back I posted a blog about the sudden lack of updates. I know, I know - you guys and girls want me to update my stories.

But I have been working on things!

Like helping Draequine with my parts in his next chapter, which can be found here: PonyFall: Adventures in Chaos

I've also been choosing a new writer for Rarity (Congrats, Dusty_the_Royal_Janitor), and editing for the Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Princess Celestia, and Cutie Mark Crusaders stories.

In-between all of that and my new job, I've still managed to write some more of the next PonyFall chapter. I'll also try to get around to finishing The Saint of Killers Meets Twilight Sparkle and see if I can pull that story off without making it suck.

So busy! I'm trying to get updates out. I'm sorry, I'll try harder, but it's difficult to coordinate so many projects at once! While I'm on it, I'm sad to report that there's no ETA on the next chapter for The Final Element, but I have started on it, as well. Please don't hate me!
