So, this thing. It's based off an equally crazy idea that I'd still hope to write - one where there were about seven different shipping stories that each had a oneshot in a compilation of sorts. Among Vinyljack were Flimflampie and Ironshy - you do the math, 'cause I hate pre-calculus.

Other than that, right now it's awaiting review from ponychan's /fic/ board - specifically, the Writer's Training Grounds. Someone has already claimed it, so I'm eagerly awaiting their review. Then off to EqD for another round. I was told this story had a good concept and potential - and, I would like to get on that damned site just once.

But, seeing as how it might take a while, I've started typing the next update. Sunday at the latest, as I have about a page done, and Saturday all day and Sunday mid-day I can't do much, and I'm going to a game after school tomorrow, so I won;t have much time at all. By Sunday, 11:59 pm EST, you guys should have an HF&AE update.

Until then, have some Steam Powered Giraffe.

    Cheers,

    A. Tuesday

(P.S. The ponychan reviewer called the title silly as a super-short pre-review. Yeah, kinda.)

So, yeah, school's started up here in Pennsylvania, and I am now officially a sophomore. Woo!

Besides that, I had to get a new hard drive for my computer, and I've been having some trouble with it. I've finally gotten back Microsoft Office, so now I may resume writing fics - GoogleDocs just doesn't cut it for me.

I've had a multitude of ideas from everything imaginable - from sad, to comedic, to romance, to epics - all not typed. Some not even in a notepad on my phone. And, judging from how my mind works, most fics need to be written down within hours of their inception, or, their lost forever. It was a tearful goodbye to that Ghostbusters crossover I started.

Anyways, I should have some new story out by the end of the week. School's only just started, so it isn't cutting in too much. But, beyond that, I'm writing two nonfics and working on the script for Fallout: Equestria's total conversion mod. A bit busy, maybe.

What will the new story be? Don't ask, 'cause I don't know. Maybe I''ll finally start that series of crazy romance oneshots. Or another sadfic. Either way, some form of writing.

I should probably get back to script-writing - then maybe more Background Pony later. I mean, gods, SS&E - can you put out a chapter that isn't half of a novel in length? I''m only midway through chapter seven, and I started reading this when it first came out! (Granted, I took a bit of a hiatus inbetween 1 - 2 and 5-6, but still.)

    Cheers,

    A. Tuesday

(PS. Taking Care has almost reached 50 upvotes! That's awesome! You guys - I love you guys.)

So, I found out my niche in this community, I suppose - I can really only write oneshots.

Multi-parters, ones that tend to write themselves out as they go, are something I can't do. Northern Aggression had a planned forty chapters, only fifteen of which were completed. High Violet had eleven. Kindness of a Fugitive...I don't even know.

The first two won't be written simply because there isn't enough audience and I really don't know where to go next. NA I thought I had a next chapter, but then I relaized how stupid it was. A White House dinner banquet. The chapter itself might as well be at the banquet; it's the best filler anyone would've gotten there.

High Violet just can't be done. Too long ago, I ccan't get into it.

Kindness of a Fugitive... *sighs* I really regret publishing that. The original - The Fire and the Flutter - was written out entirely pre-publishing, so it was easy. But, as I've realized, one should never really put out multi-parters unless they know EXACTLY where they're going and a good amount of it is already written out.

However, I manage to do oneshots okay, I suppose - save for Annie Mae (shudders). I mean, Unsellable (no matter how much I wish that'd be on EqD, it's just not going to happen) has almost broken 100 thumbs (100! One hundred thumbs, people!) and my latest one, Taking Care, has almost broken fifty. That's crazy.

To be more specific, I can only do semi-sad oneshots, I guess. I mean, I probably could write comedy - but I feel a bit more comfortable writing stuff that should give people feels without having a totally terrible ending, like Unsellable or The Receiving End. My friend recommended I do an idea of his - which I might do, but at the rate I'm taking notes on my own ideas, my brain will need to establish a toll booth.

There'll be another story soon, and most likely it's going to be one of two things - one, some semi-sad oneshot like always (my growing area of expertise), or a spin-off of Unsellable, which would be a three-parter. THERE's a multi-parter I can write - a short, two to four chapter thingy.

In fact, Unsellable is spun-off of my original idea of Rainbow Dash attending high school under the care of her aunt and uncle - which is briefly mentioned in the story itself. There would be references to the events that occurred in the oneshot so many of you read, but it was going to be a pretty large project. A Slice-of-Life/Comedy/Normal story, with a touch of the feels at the end of every chapter, which makes them Magically Delicious (TM).

That idea still lingers in my head. But I fear not being able to complete it, and I'm too lazy to start it.

The spin-off would feature Rainbow Dash and Twilight going around trying to make amends to Dash's family life - see her dad, aunt, and uncle in the first part, ask where the others are, attempt to reconcile with her mother in the second, and finally - the most important - find her sister. Sounds good in MY head, at least.

Or, you know, maybe I'll write something happy and cheerful for once.

    Nah.

    Cheers,

    A. Tuesday.

(P.S. Just noticed I mentioned every one of my stories except for one. So, drumroll please.............On the Shores of the River. There. Done.)

(P.P.S. How was that by the way?)

Some of you may have noticed, if you go to Equestria Daily, that on a roundup last month someone had posted a recruitment advertisement for a group that was putting together a Total Conversion Mod for Fallout 3. It will the story into that of Kkat's Fallout: Equestria (15/10, amazing story, all of you should read it when you have a couple months) and change the location and the characters and the weapons and such until it is the Equestrian Wasteland. I applied to be a script writer - and I'm in! So, now I'm part of a larger project for the brony community. Crazy, right?

Also, I'm beginning to work on a story that's been in my head for a while now. It probably won't be posted to FiMFic immediately, but just to let you know, I am working on it on the side.

As for updates for everything, they'll be done when I'm bored with everything else. During downtime this week or next week.

    Cheers,

So, three of 'em are getting included in this blog post. Speaking of which, it's been a while since I've posted one.

Kindness of a Fugitive: Haven't updated this since its inception and the ensuing first chapter. I meant to do that tonight, but Flea's new EP and other interwebness kept me from doing so. A thousand pardons be requested. I shall update either this upcoming week or the next week, but no later. Don't expect me to be regular with this one - I'm writing a lot of other crap, including non-pony stories and the other oneshots I do for this site. Not to mention, school's starting up soon, so... yeah. (Kindness of a Fugitive)

On the Shores of the River: Inspired by my vacation in Ocean City, MD, and my immediately following weekend spent at a river house on a Potomac tributary. I was going for a weird variant on where I think the Elements come from - how they're more than just regular ponies and what not. Pretty stupid when I lay it out like that, but all of you ate it up, so, works for me. I think this is the first story I put the "Sad" tag on, though I think my other oneshots are hardly what you consider happy. I digress.

I woke up the morning after I wrote and sent it in feeling like an idiot. The idea seemed so terrible. But, it seemed to work. Take note, children: after a certain time at night, you should NOT be writing fanfiction. Regardless of how it comes out, you WILL regret it. (On the Shores of the River)

The Receiving End: Not to sound completely butthurt here (I really would hate to do such a thing), but I was hoping for a bit more out of this. My attempt at writing a story with just dialogue. At almost 8K, my initial fear of content subsided. I thought it was a pretty neat idea. But, hey, what the author thinks is cool might not be what the audience feels. Oh well. Have a read of that one, those who are viewing this and haven't seen it. I really did enjoy its idea. (The Receiving End)

That's pretty much it. like subscribe comment Just read the damn blog post, at least. If you want, that is.

I've done it. I've finally begun work on The Fire and the Flutter's sequel, and its now on its way in the submission vat.

Look for "Kindness of a Fugitive." It follows the events of TFATF by just over a month. I will have a blog post with the link to it once it has been approved and whatnot. So far, it's merely a prologue, and touches on things previous readers already know, but things new readers will be drawn in by (I didn't label it as a sequel...mwahaha, messing with the system), along with some new information that hasn't been disclosed before.

Plus, cover art! Good, simple cover art, too!

Also, "Come Fly With Me" by Frank Sinatra. Not part of the story, but a generally awesome song. Do find and listen to.

So, look out for it in the coming days! It should be much more well-written than TFATF, and a bit longer, too, which I enjoy.

    Cheers,

    Tuesday.

I received an email not too long ago.

    "Dear author or authors,

I regret to inform you that I cannot recommend this story be posted on Equestria Daily.

First and foremost, your writing is still not up to par with what is usually required for submissions. You've got dry narration, "lavender unicorn syndrome," and the characters slip out-of-character from time to time.

Next... this story has an interesting idea behind it. Dash likes her fan (oh, and the title drop was terrible) because it reminds her of home, even if home was screwed up.

I will be blunt. Your spousal abuse comes off as cliché and hammy. Obviously, for so heavy of a subject matter, the writing standards go higher than "(ex? I didn't read far enough to find out) drug-addict parents start fighting about money as soon as the father comes home."

There need to be more emotions here, and there aren't.

So, focus on the writing, give depth to the heavy, heavy plot elements you incorporate, and take this to Ponychan's /fic/ for help revising. This is your second strike of three, I advise that you revise accordingly.

    Signed,

    Prereader JJ"

    Well, shit.

At least someone mentioned the terribly misleading title. Will be changed accordingly. That's the first order of business.

The second...I did a whole mess of adjusting the first time around, and this is now or never time. I either have to spiff this thing up until the state it's in shines like the sun, or abandon the idea of Equestria Daily publication, at least with this piece. I see where I went wrong (this email is much more obvious than the last one), and how I can fix it, but, at the same time, I was told by two close friends that, at this point, I "might as well write a new story."

Scrap and re-write it. I don't really want to do that.

You guys rock, and you read it - I need your advice on what to do. Should I take it down for now (NOT a revoke, but unpublishing), and edit the hell out of it, according to the pre-reader JJ here? Or, should I leave it as is (changing the title, of course) and accept that this may not be a piece for EQD?

I see it as a problem of wanting to achieve a diamond that might only be zarconium, but also see it as writing incompetence.

I'm walking away from it for a day or more - I can come back to it with a clear head. But, I would enjoy your thoughts on this. Hell, I need them.

    Cheers,

    Tuesday

Better than my inital change for a total of ten minutes, and much simpler. A. Tuesday. Assume it means American - but, for the record, I'm not associated with any garage bands/ San Franciscan bagel places. The name "A. Tuesday" isn't owned by anybody, so I'll take it, thank you very much.

    Cheers,

So, I've been doing some research, and I found out that American Tuesday is not only a garage band, but apparently a bagel place or something like that in San Francisco...neither of which I'm affliated with....sweet.

That means it's time for a new username. A handle I can use all over the place, on my many different sites and whatnot, just to make things more organized. One that isn't related to San Franciscan breakfast huts.

So, I call on you, my lovely readers, to help me think of a new one. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated. Although, is it possibly for the word "Tuesday" to be infused, possibly as the main thing? I rather like the sound of Tuesday.

Also, I'm considering starting a writing blog, like on blogspot. I do a mess of writing, both fanfic and otherwise, and I'd like some form to vent out to, but at the same time give out some tips/tricks/lessons I've learned about writing and share the experiences with writing and the fanfiction community that I've had. It seems only logical to start a blog, even if no one does read it. Plus, it gives me an outlet to share any short stories I write, or maybe sections of longer-length stories I'm working on that aren't fanfic (those will be posted here.) Thoughts?

There may also be another "feelfic" debuting this week. I have some downtime while I'm in Ocean City, MD for the week, and I plan on using that for some writing time.

    Cheers,

    The-soon-to-be-renamed Tuesday.
