Jeje, I know I haven't been really active as of late, but I fell that I should write another reason for why I like this pairing: I have a similar relationship with my girlfriend. She's kinda like Rainbow Dash: a free spirit, she loves adventures and she has a really strong character (both for good and bad). She's got a temper, and she's not very patient. But she is loyal, beautiful and she makes me a better person. I'm more like Mac: I'm really patient, I'm serious, not very adeventurous myself...so believe me when I tell you (or write you, whatever) that I know EXACTLY what are the challenges that Dashie and Mac could face...and how they could solve them.

It also gives me hope that my girlfriend and me will be able to go past our diferences and be happy together

The only one I can share right now (the others I want to save for future stories) is Zap Works. Basically, playing the Zap Apple thing up, but the foal in general is very smart, and is meant to be a parallel to Steve Jobs (you know, Macs, computers) and therefore kickstarts Equestria's modern technology movement and such.

But that's for another time.

Can we talk about possible baby names for this ship?

Besides the obvious Zap Apple (which I think should become an injoke where at least one of their kids will be named zap ), what are some of the names do you picture the Mac/dash brood having?

For me, I've got Roman Apple, Spartan Apple, Redstreak Apple, and Iris. (all of these are real apple types and the Spartan Apple was actually partially bred from the McIntosh Apple. Iris was added in as a nod to Roman mythology, where Iris was the rainbow goddess.)

It just makes sense to me. Rainbow needs somepony to keep her grounded, her pride and ego from getting to inflated, but to keep it up when she's depressed.

As for Big Mac, he deserves somepony who'll always have him looking at the sky with a smile and knowing he can depend on her and not only his family.

My reason for liking Big Mac pairings (not just RD)... I have a character similar to Big Mac (as well as trouble with social events) and find it easy to put myself in his mindset. Getting 'the popular girl' is (much less the girl wants you) something I would like so it is for part wish fulfilment for me anyway.

Since my secret pony fic challenge was a Mac Dash romance fic, I have been thinking about what would draw Rainbow Dash to Big Mac rather then pegasus stallions(Note to self.. analyse a fic in reverse, Mac with a crush on Dash)

It's not an easy question and I haven't found an answer.

Reasons being

Big Mac is the #1 bachelor in town - He is not the only male in town, and maybe not even the one male RD sees the most. Again where are the Pegasus stallions?

Big Mac will leave RD being her own mare - Versus what, Soarin controlling her? It doesn't make sense

Opposites attract - Oldest reason but there has to be common ground somewhere.

Also the pairing opens the best name for the Apple Family, Zap Apple

Well, it's kind of complicated. As many have mentioned, I thinks that they would be good together because their differences and similarities complete each other. The perfect match of speed and strength, extroverted and introverted, etc. Though they might have a hard time at first, I do believe that this is a couple that could last forever if they pass the first two months.

Second. I believe that RD is the best match for Big Mac. She's strong, independent, can handle the Apple Family (Granny Smith and AJ) and is extremely loyal. Big Mac is already an excellent choice for all the mares, but usually he gives more than he receives. For example, he is very protective. In a FlutterMac, this would help Flutthershy, but she usually doesn't has anything special to offer in exchange. Dashie, on the other hand, is strong and capable of helping Big Mac and getting him out of trouble.

FInally, my most complicated reason. I always felt identified with Rainbow Dash, mainly because she's a pegasus and her dream was to join the Wonderbolts, and I dreamed of joining my country's Air Force to be able to fly. After reading My Little Dashie, and because of my personal feelings (always wanted a daughter) and problems  (broken family,etc) the feelings evolved to, and this sounds fool and cliché, a fatherly love towars her. Basically, I fell like she's my daughter, and I would do anything to be there for her in that manner. But the point is that, feeling protective as I might, Big Macintosh does feels like a good coltfriend for her. He's strong, dependable, caring. He's someone that Dashie can use as a rock to stand upon to if things get hard. He won't ask her to forget her dreams or her friends. And he's a stallion that will make her feel secure, safe. And she won't be afraid to admit she needs his help. I believe that in some other cases she could try to mask her weakness or emotions, but that she won't feel the need to appear as tough as always when she's with him (unless something really unexpected happens). She will be comfortable with asking for his help, to cry in his shoulder. And the calm Big Mac will be the balance for her more intempestive emotions. He'll be able to calm her, he will be able to handle her stubborness  and he won't be pissed if she snaps at him in a moment of stress. And, even thou Big Mac might use her competitive nature to achieve something, he won't be as competitive as others could be (which is why I don't like the AppleDash shipping: I feel like they would be so competitive and stubborn that they woudl break, and Dashie would be hurt emotionally in the process).

I have always liked Big Mac ,I'm also a discord follower. I was reading a story involving Discord written by one of your members. When I finished I read some more of his stories and the pairing began to grow on me.

For me, it's because the characters are opposites and therefore have more potential for drama.  Most especially, Rainbow Dash is extroverted whereas Big Macintosh is extremely introverted.  I like the idea that Mac has hidden depths a girl like Dash could tease out.

Also, Big Mac is the manliest stallion in all of Equestria.

partly out of the irony of the fact that these two are shipped with everyone/thing (I remember one where Rainbow Dash ended up dating Death himself) but these two are rarely shipped together {braces for calls of "hipsterrr"}, and partly because I like the idea of a brazen tomcolt like Dash going weak in the knees for a pony like Mac. there's also my need to absorb the energy given off from emotional drama caused by a number of factors, and fluttermac not producing the required frequency of both sweet and intense moments (you kind of get the idea that those two would be peaches and cream).

teal deer, irony, my own twisted humor, and others don't just grab my attention like these two.
